You really covered such important topics guys!! Charge what you need to charge - you are not Walmart and therefore not the low price leader. Others selling similar products for super cheap just hurts the industry and you don't have to compete with that. You also nailed it on doing shows - too many options can be overwhelming and you can lose the customer all together. Juried shows are great as they will limit the number of vendors in the same category so the show is not inundated with too many similar products. Also, if you choose to sell wholesale, make sure you set your policies, meaning the company needs to meet quantity minimums to get wholesale pricing - not just a hundred or two hundred dollars. You will be more respected and not taken advantage of if you are firm with your policies as a professional business. Your bottom line is more important than theirs!

Holy moly! Great advice! My only regret is that I didn't find you so much sooner on so many levels! Business name, multitude of fragrances, basically just keeping it simple. (I will say, I did already come to a conclusion before seeing this video of wanting to slim down and keep it simple and uniform in the products I make. But I also don't do just body essentials as I also do other things and plan on having a store on wheels along with an on line store. Thank you so very much! So much appreciated for what you both are willing to be down to earth and talk about what your mistakes were and what you learned! Very educational!

Wow, you share such pertinent information. I was thinking about supplies, recipes and keeping it simple! Thank you so much! Do you have a recent video of where you bug supplies and also about how many soap recipes you have? I don't even sell soap, but I have a pretty carefully chosen group of oils, but even still there are a few things I wish I hadn't purchased like oils and molds!!!

  • @h2t26

The scent thing is my issue. I see some stores doing really well and they have 10 to 20 different scents. There is no way I have room to offer that much in my tiny apartment. Also scents do expire in the bottle and fade from products, if I'm not selling it that was money wasted. So I had to accept that I can only offer a limited selection. Any not an issue I need to worry about now since I decided against starting my business.

The market I've been going to has been very quiet lately. There is another event that is an hour away and run by the city. I'd have to get approved and provide samples. In order to change anything that I offer, I'd have to get permission before I could sell it. The price for a spot is reasonable, but it would be outside like most markets in my area. They are also looking for a soaper. Other vendors have been telling me they make alot more money at the larger event than the smaller. Do you think it would be a good idea to join the larger event even though it's so far away?

I’m so happy I found this channel, being a stay at home mom for years and I have been wanting to do something to contribute to the home. I have always wanted to create soaps and have been afraid but you have inspired me. It’s now the business end that scares me lol .. my eldest child works in education but they are force vaccinating so her dream job is up in smoke song w her pension and benefits 💔 I’m thinking this would be a great thing to start w her. She’s so creative. I’m curious since I ah w no money really if my own what do you think would be a good staying budget to get started small? Can you do a video on how selling one Etsy works ? There fees etc? I’ve been binge watching your channel at bedtime maybe you already have a video like that up? Love your videos !!

6:16 “if you choose to do that (sell MLM products), there’s nothing wrong with that…”
Yes there is. Lol. :) I know it’s nice to be all “your choices are okay” these days, but MLM schemes prey upon the end client (housewives trying to make some extra money, etc.) and make the people at the too rich.

We opened a business bank account some time ago and I recommend you do the same! If you're running a true business, the expenses and profits should be separate from your personal accounts. When we opened a business account, we also got a business credit card which helps keeps expenses separate.
