    Thank you for sharing. I also moved from using ArcGIS to QGIS for the same reasons: free and open source.

    currently working on my Urban Planning Degree from ASU. This seems to be more on hands than what I'm currently doing.

    Gimp has been degraded to facilitate packing. The current version has many bugs and it works differently than previous versions. If you are a Gimp user, you might need to learn about new compound layers which were not necessary since the function was already there.

    All of these technologies are fine, but here in Australia we live in computer-generated boxes, computer-generated cities, where the human spirit is dislocated from our built environment. Planning will come of age - and it's only a new profession - when it throws away those technologies and teaches the essences and processes of creativity itself. Achieve that, and it can be done, then, and only then, do you go to the computer. We must first divine our built environment, before designing it.
