I worked in pet food for 5 years. The number one thing I recommend over everything for cats is to feed as much wet food as possible. Over 50% of cats over the age of 10 develop kidney disease. Cats are desert animals and do not naturally know to drink water and their tongues aren't designed for it so they are almost always dehydrated. Wet food is the best thing you can give your cat as often as you can afford. In my opinion, the worst wet food is better than the best dry food. It also doesn't have to be one or the other. You can do wet and dry food. The usually don't make senior specific wet food. Also, many times senior specific food is mostly marketing. However, if she is having tummy trouble try finding wet food with pumpkin! Pumpkin is just fiber so it helps even everything out.
We have a nearly 20 yr old cat and she is thriving! We feed her Blue Buffalo Sensitive Stomach + a can of the blue Buffalo mature pate food daily. Works great for her touchy tummy.
Our vet told us when switching to a new food to do it gradually. Add a little new to the old increasing the new over time to let them adjust. This way their tummies can adjust as they can be very sensitive. Hope this helps. 💜
I second this! It is recommended 25% new food for a few days, and 75% old. Then after a few days move to 50/50, etc. Also, if things are still loose, I would recommend going slower. There is no harm in taking your time for the most part.
Our 17 year old kitty was also having tummy troubles (along with kidney failure). Our vet recommended Hill's Science Gastrointestinal Biome, and that seemed to help. You might need a prescription, but if Missy has been having digestive issues for more than a few days, it's time for a call or visit to the vet anyway. Definitely start feeding wet as well if you don't already. Don't be afraid of the cost of expensive cat food. The expensive brands like Hill's, Nulo, Wellness, Tiki, Weruva (my cats' fave), etc don't use fillers, and cats end up not needing to eat as much to get full. Most of those brands sell broths with a little meat as well, but those are snacks, not meals. Please give Missy a pet for me! I love how she starts purring just because you are near!
They have a senior version for the lil soups. :) we give that to our 17 year old princess several times a day. She won't eat much regular wet food, so lil soups are the way we get more water in her.
I am going to be honest. Your podcast has helped me sleep this past week so much. It is safe to listen too and helps guide me in a nice way to not have nightmares. I woke up to the one that your mom was in again this morning and had to rewind and listen to on my way to work. She captured a great outlook on life and love it.
I love cats, and this is what has worked for me - continue using the old food for a while gradually adding small amounts of the new food along with it until she gets accustomed to the new. I have found the switching process usually takes about 10 days to complete. Also have a familiar treat available that she gets after she is finished with her main meal, so that she associates the treat with eating what's in her dish. Looking forward to your new travel vlogs🥰
My fur babies, brother and sister will be 20 yrs in May. I switched them to mostly wet food. I also switched the Meow mix to IAMS. With the change in foods and elevated food dishes, they very rarely throw up anymore, and when they do, it does not stain.
We use Hill’s Science Diet for our 12 year old cat, Kitty. He loves it and when he has had tummy troubles in the past, the vet prescribed special wet food to add to his diet.
Awesome snowman, but Canada has a bigger snowman, he's 35 feet tall and you'll love the city it's in, Beardmore Ontario 😊😊 and you can see him during the summer too 😂😅
Merry Christmas you 3. Mix the new food with the old so Missy doesn’t get an upset stomach. Every day add less and less old food until that’s all you’re giving her. Hope she feels better soon. Have a happy 2024 🎉
Not a cat owner (yet 😏), but we do have a Shuh-Tzu and a Bichon Frise and they have both eat Wellness dry and wet food. I also give them a plethora of vitamins and supplements cause one is already 14 (no health issues) and she's very picky.
Incorporating wet food into Missy’s diet would be helpful to her stomach. I’m pleased you went with Science Diet! It’s what our vet recommends. I highly recommend not free feeding, and adding CBD, fish oil, and Vitamin E supplements to her meals. Those can all be found in liquid/oil forms.
Our cat Tiger lived to the wonderful age of 23 years old. We had to feed him Seinor cat food because of digestive problems. 1st, he was on Iams Seinor, and we had to switch to Science Diet Seinor with was a lot better for him.
Oh no the poor Missy I hope she feels better soon. So long story short what happens if you’re one of the really really late people and just remembered that you need you forgot to mail the box of Xmas Legglife. Will you be able to open it on the future of vlog maybe
At her age, it’s about time that she can start having kidney problems. My older cats have had to go on Rx kidney food. Next vet appt the vet will probably check that.

Gosh, that's one of the most amazing compliments ever. Thank you!!
Our old kitty cat developed colitis at around age 15. The vet put him on daily low dose steroids. Hope Missy feels better.
I'm going to go tomorrow to see Snowzilla. I saw the article in ADN.

When you do winter travel, is someone staying at your place to make sure your pipes don't freeze?

I hate auto correct ignore the future vlog meant to say good things come to those who wait even if it’s late
Add some canned food to her diet along with the dry.
Thank you!
