So Camping World was not punished. They only had to give back money that wasn't theirs. The fine should be three times of the settlement because otherwise, its just the gambling cost of doing business
That's how it was explained to me by a VP of a corporation, just the cost of doing business. I resigned from my position at that company. It was a different field but shows how prevalent this attitude is.
When I went to buy my car they tried to tell me their $500 “premium deluxe package” was standard and they had to include it on all cars. I had a car salesman tell me that etching was required by the police…. It isn’t. They’re liars.
Refund full purchase price plus financing charges, so that the RV owner got it for zero cost. That would ensure they never do it again, as they would literally be better off giving the RV for free instead, less legal costs.
Someone needs to check out boat dealers. They won't give you a price and aren't required to put up a "window sticker". I have a feeling a bunch of them operate the same way as Camping World, but nothing is documented the same way as a motor vehicle.
Camping World is the definition of sleaze. Years ago we went to one in San Marcos, Ca. and found it impossible to buy any of the advertised items. They attempted to steer us to more expensive alternatives.
Sounds like the long defunct Montgomery Wards...first day of the 'advertised' sale get their as soon as they are open and yet somehow they are already 'sold out' (note: this was long before eCommerce)...but we have THIS model....of course that was after spending 10 minutes trying to find someone to help you out.
@@alhutchison1535- I remember as a young man I saved up to buy the $399 Lazy Boy recliner advertised. I showed up proud and the sales man shows me this tiny cheaply made recliner “as advertised” I asked what the heck is this a kids chair, it’s a piece of junk? No sir, that’s the advertised chair, what you want is the $599 one next to it. Needless to say I walked away and saved up some more money, never trusting advertising again. 🤣
I bought a new Toyota Rav4 from my local Toyota dealer. When I took delivery of the car I looked at the Monroney label the dealer removed from the window and put in the glove box. It listed Standard equipment. Tinted windows and front clear bra. Well, the dealer charged me $998 plus tax for that. I went back inside and talked to my salesman and he called out the sales manager. The manager said, “too late. You took possession of the car”. With him protesting, I knocked on the General managers door. I remained calm and civil and told him the sales manager said, “too late.” I asked him “ What do you suppose the State Attorneys office would have to say about it?” He called the finance guy in and told him to cut me a check. The car has never been there for service. They lost a lot of future business and I have advised many people about what they did. Trust no one.
I don't know that camping world was ever good but RVs used to be an ok thing decades ago. Mom and dad's old '72 Winnebago was affordable and really didn't give much in the way of trouble. And we had years of good vacations with it, and it did double duty as a cook car and breakroom during harvest season when you were out in the field for long days. Ditto my aunt and uncle's slightly newer and much fancier Winnebago. But I agree, I've looked at modern ones and they're junk. Mighty expensive junk at that.
Plus absolutely designed as shoddily as they can so they break down all the time, and you find out the warranty is worthless, and repairs rapidly amount to more than the purchase price to get the vehicle to the standard it should have had in the beginning off the floor.
Always ALWAYS negotiate OUT THE DOOR PRICE. meaning that is the price you are cutting a check for. Not the price of the vehicle. The out the door final price. Negotiate that. If you say 87677 for OTDP and then you walk into the finance office and the last line doesnt read 87677, get up and walk out. If they stop you tell them that wasnt the out the door price you agreed upon and if they wanna do business that number needs to be what you shook hands on. If they wont budge leave a google review of exactly what happened and write to your local news. Agreeing to an out the door price then going back on it needs called out and corrected by law if necessary.
This is good advice. Car dealers specifically almost always want to talk car payment. Car payments are a terrible way to look at what you are really paying. And almost all of those "add ons" that they want to charge you for are BS in any case. If they want to sell you a car, you can usually negotiate those off if you care to spend the time and effort.
I always negotiate all car, motorcycle etc. deals “Out the Door”. Always works great after the salesman gets over his annoyance. They once tried to charge me for the tag when I picked it up at the dealership weeks later, but after reminding them that the price was out the door, they relented.
I finished the interior of my Ford Econoline van. It had everything except a toilet and there was no evidence on the outside that it was anything but a work truck.
@@chuck8094 I have 2-100 watt solar panels and a vent, so it is obvious my Transit Connect is a camper. No built in toilet, but I have a murphy bed that I love!
Wise move. Most modern RVs are sticks-and-glue construction. DIY or custom-built are the only way to get something with structural integrity that can withstand more than a stiff breeze.
I had a bad experience with simple tire work from Camping World. I was on the road, so went there. Never again. That said, my last 5th wheel purchase was in 2016 (I fulltime) from an rv wholesale outfit. I was ready to pay cash, but the salesman talked me into financing. This is how it worked. By financing, I got a $1000 discount on the price. The salesman told me that they get a $1000 from the finance company as a kickback. He told me to make my first normal payment, then make the second payment for the balance of the loan with no penalties. Worked wonderfully!
My cousin did his research on a Airsteam make and model trailer, found all the costs to fix/replace and what was needed specifically. He printed it out and showed it to the dealership and was able to buy that make and model at a cheaper rate, did all the repairs and replacements himself. He has no issues with it to this day. He lived comfortably in it while having his actual house built over the years, “good and cheap, pay as you go” on unincorporated county land, everything paid for. He still keeps the Airstream as his “man camper/manper” (not like that gross “pop-up” from Honey Boo-Boo) and he takes it to the beach or to the lakes, to save on hotel costs.
Depends on the number of customers affected, if it's like less than a hundred yeah I can see this being fair and a pretty potent warning in relative terms. But there ought to be a punitive fine in seven digits as well.
Even in my 20's when I bought my first new Acura..."out the door" was the only number I wanted to hear. Bought 2 in a row from the same dealer. They will fold if you got the $$ and the sale is fast.
@Tom-6502 In which ones? You can always offer a lower price in the UK to any dealer. Less room to haggle sure but that's mainly cos we don't have car dealership mini monopolies so there is less markup due to more competition.
2:17 car dealers here in Texas are doing something similar... they try to add a transport charge a additional second transport charge to your paperwork so look at your paperwork closely. they also try to charge a huge amount for your taxes so make sure you know what the tax rate is and bring a Calculator or do it on your phone and fight that. my mom recently purchased a car and I purchased a car last year and we both had to go through that with the paperwork and once you say something there's nothing else that they can say they cannot fight that because they know they're trying to screw you over by adding additional amounts on whatever line they feel like they can do it on thinking the buyer is not going to know.
It's been like that for years. A dealer in 2013 didn't give me credit for my trade in on the taxes in the first version of the paperwork. It was a $14k trade in. I told them, rather loudly, no way. Those people do this every day, and if they don't fix it, bye bye. I really didn't appreciate that, but they had traded with a dealer in Austin for the exact vehicle we wanted. It ended up being a great suv, as we didn't have a warranty issue until 79k miles for a bad catalytic converter!
"OUT THE DOOR" always use this phrase when negotiating a price on a purchase. That means that price includes registration, tax, or any other stupidness that they might like to tack on there.
The way the article was written makes it sound like all they have to do is give the money back, but there is not really a punishment. Or maybe I didn't hear correctly...
I have come to the realization that I bought a new RV that’s cheaply made. 1 year old and multiple different things wrong. Water leaking from the shower. The power jack locked up. 1 stabilizer jack broke. And already had to swap the fridge out as the first one died a few months into owing it. The dealership I bought it from is and was crappy about fixing anything so I’ve started to just fix myself
Something interesting and sketchy we've seen from CW is that they'll bill out extended service contracts and then never convert that into their service contract program (Good Sam) until after a claim is filed, and then its a battle for customers to get them to get it all processed how ever long into their coverage they might be.
In my experience, the most expensive motor home is built exactly the same way the cheapest teardrop trailer is assembled. By the same people. With the same 'interesting' approach to quality. Something about a silk purse & a sow's ear comes to mind...
I had a car dealer try to add on itemized charges that were already included in the price. I think it did involve freight and destination charges and some other things. I pointed it out, and they claimed it was a mistake. I should have walked out, but I needed the car, and I presume car dealers are crooked as a rule, not an exception. So they deleted the charges and I completed the purchase. I thought of reporting them, because I’m pretty sure they were doing that as a practice. But I doubted I’d get anywhere …
In 1972 my parents bought a Pilgrim slide-in camper. (I still own the 1972 F-250 Camper Special it slid into.) We went on a trip and found that the water heater would not stay lit. The factory was convenient to visit on our way home. We got a guided tour while someone replaced the thermocouple. Nice responsible company. Too bad that isn't common these days.
Car dealers have a lot of lobbying money. Legislators and judges who want to be re-elected tend not to look too closely until the checks to their campaign funds start to bounce.
I checked out Camping World in 2019 when I was looking for a teardrop to tow behind my Subaru. They not only don't cater to the SINGLE camper, they don't cater to the working class outdoorsman and minimalist markets, stocking only those six-figure behemoths that look like Motel 6 rooms on wheels. Good Sam/Gander Corps are obviously modeled on the traditional high pressure new car dealer model, making F&I, warranty and upgrades more important than the base product.
I rarely hit lots for this reason - cars or otherwise. With that said, I only negotiate "out the door" price. I don't let them pull credit with, "...assume excellent credit for now." I don't tell them about trades or down payments. I won't discuss monthly price. I only discuss "out the door" price and I'm ready to leave. I wish we could separate purchasing a vehicle from the financing as I think that would be better for everyone except the dealers.
We own a 1966 Serro Scotty trailer...a very basic "home" on wheels. Our concept of camping is to get away from civilization and NOT to bring it with you.
The biggest problem with RV's is that they're trying to be just like a home when that's the last thing you need. It sells though, and realistic alternatives are nearly non-existent. If you want to stay in something like your house get a hotel room instead; you can get plenty of them for what new RV;s cost!
Love the shirt Steve! Side note, my dad was a jet engine tech for Williams International for almost 30 years. The engine was before his time, but he did work on variances of it's engine, which fun fact, eventually evolved into the Williams F112 cruise missile engine for the Tomahawk.
Both RV and Car dealers (I used to sell cars) make their money off of financing by working the deal for your monthly payment. That monthly payment hides all of the extra costs. I only negotiate for the cash price, plus TTL. And once the dealer and I have agreed to the price, I stick to it. Period. And if they won't honor that price, I walk. You'd be surprised how often they'll give in.
All the information on standard window sticker labels on cars at car dealerships were required for this reason. They should have done it for RV's decades ago.
I literally was looking into trading mine in at camping world. I was originally interested in an older model 2014 grey wolf. I was approved and everything then all of a sudden while it was still a pending deal they sold it to a wholesaler. Then they tried to get me into a much newer model 2020 forest river which was like almost double the price and double the payment. It was nice and all but the wallpaper was coming off in many places the slide-out had a big gouge underneath from a bad roller and no warranty whatsoever. Price tag was 20 grand and they were going to give me like 3 Grand for a trade in. Payments were going to be $380 a month for 180 a month that is $68,000! I cannot believe that! What a ripoff now I have a hard inquiry on my credit
Build your own RV. If you can't, work with a contractor and mechanic. That being said, a house isn't a good vehicle and most vehicles aren't good homes.
I own an RV repair shop. You're suggestion is not viable nor does it make economic sense. Then again, RVs are an extreme violation of the KISS principle😂
Actually, I have built a small RV. Nice and simple, and it did the job. Sold it when someone made me an offer I couldn’t turn down. Got a call from them a few weeks later, and they thanked me for the sale!
My parents big ass RV was stolen off camping worlds parking lot when they took it in for service it was found stripped and the thieves tried to set it on fire . They ripped out the sink and shower plumbing i assume because they thought it would have copper tubing ???? It was plastic or PEX . They ended up taking the TV and some personal items and lighting an accelerant in the sink and on the countertop but they didn't know that that stuff doesn't burn lol .
I used to work for a large dealership in central Ohio who also sold RVs. They used to include the luxury tax, for the appropriate vehicles, in the sales tax total, and then pay sales tax on the sale amount minus the luxury tax. ILLEGAL because it is a tax on a tax. Their response was well we are gonna keep doing it til we get caught. Don’t know if they ever did.
That place is very scetch. I saw a tear drop get sold to them and I asked how much they paid the customer got. 2200.00. I went back a few weeks later was selling for 25k.
Why does the state get the 3m in fines instead of it being split up between the partys that were damaged...? That makes no sense the people ripped off just get paid back and the government gets 3m.
Camping World is a disaster. They lie. They cover up. They're slow AF. I HATE CAMPING WORLD! They told me 'We'll really be able to take care of you after the sale." 2 months later, no parts, denied claims, leaking RV... Pushes blame off to manufacturer --go deal with them. I loath these people.
I buy used RVs at huge discounts. Most are in great shape and only need cosmetic updates. I would never consider a new one. Nor will I buy one with a slide out. Those things get stuck all the time.
Finally a state bars the "well qualified buyer" provision, this need to be nationwide. I can't tell you how many ads I heard on the radio or seen on TV that I've "voided" because of the bait and switch using the "well qualified buyer".
I knew a fellow who worked as an 'F&I' man for car dealers. He would often make the statement that he made more money for the dealer than the sales agents. The money was made by predatory lending practices against those with poor credit (dealer financing deals) and by attaching basically nearly worthless credit financing insurance to the deal. This insurance pays off your loan (maybe) if you die before the loan is paid off, so it is primarily to protect the dealer from having to repo cars from dead people. His technique for buying a new car was to let the dealer think he was going to finance with the dealer, negotiate his best price and get it in writing and then go to a bank for the loan so he could come back and hand the dealer cash for the negotiated price when he picked up the car.
They do the same thing here in IL. I was given a sales price online, confirmed the price on the phone. Went into dealer wasted a couple of hours going through everything. Had the final documents to finalize purchase saw there was a freight charge and prep fees. This was a brand new camper, I asked to see the actual sticker to confirm what was and was not included. They refused to show original. I walked out It's a systemic issue across all their dealers
If you have cash for a car or RV but you can save several thousands by financing thru the dealer; just finance it; get your great deal; then use your cash to pay it off in a month or two. It's a nasty game but we have to play it.
That's because people settle claims instead of pursuing it to the end in Court which will set a precedent helping prevent the same bad things from happening again. Sorry, no settlements- see ya in Court!
@@P_RO_ That's the sick and twisted rationalisation that criminal CEOs want you to believe so they can avoid accountability. Murderers don't get to make out of court settlements with the victim's family in order to escape criminal prosecution. Thieves don't get to give what they stole back to avoid criminal prosecution. Why do people who use lies in order to commit their thievery get special privileges? The term "fraud" has become a euphemism which downplays certain techniques of theft, to the point where people have forgotten that it is *still* theft!
In state of Oregon I bought a used pickup truck from dealership wrote a check for 10k and put it on the desk , salesman said great now how do you want to handle the additional fees and charges. I said I included them in the check, either give me the keys or tear up my check! They gave me the keys two hours later
the fees all these dealers tack on are such BS when my mom got her current SUV, the dealership scammed her through all the fees they tossed on, effectively negating her trade-in value for her old car (after effectively spending the whole day wearing her down trying to buy the damn thing off her) they even charged her a shipping fee when it was bought off the dealer's lot
So does Camping World still come out ahead on the double-charging since they still get the increased sales foot traffic, profit from customers who bought other non-sale RVs, warranty service work, financing profit, etc.????
My in laws financed a RV and we would go with them once a year . They financed $75000 meanwhile my wife and I would rent a RV for what would be about $2000 for rental , food , camp site and fuel all in . I tried to tell my in laws that I could go camping every year with them for 17 years once a year for what they will pay over the term of their loan but I don’t have to pay for insurance , maintenance , storage and all other costs and I get to use a relatively new RV every time. I guess there will always be suckers to throw money away on RVs . Edit: they go out 4-5 times a season.
When I was younger in the 2000s we had a pop-up camper that my family took to campsites around Southeast Michigan and was always amazed to see the kids whose parents had those fancy RVs with all the gizmos and gadgets included. Nowadays after watching videos like this I only wonder what the parents' experiences were buying those things and maintaining them.
What a shock that a dealership is crooked. I went to look at a truck a few years ago. The online ad had a bottom line price, but when I got there, they told me I had to pay shipping, repairs to make it pass inspection and something else. They would not waive it so I walked away. RV dealers are even worse. Liz amazing on TH-cam documents cases that customers alert her to. She has been successful in many cases of making the dealers and manufacturers do the right thing.
I used to provide computer solutions to automobile dealerships for a few decades. At one point I was pulled into the RV dealership world, and got to see some typical Service Repair Orders, and work with the sales reps and sales managers. I have seen the nightmare scenarios where a sales customers asks about the warranty on the RV before they purchase, and are told that the dealership would gladly handle any and all issues under their comprehensive warranty, and would be glad to provide an extended warranty to continue the same coverage further into the future. Well, that's fine except for one little detail. the RV manufacturer does not provide warranty coverage on a lot of the items that are built into the RV itself. I was shocked to see how many rapair orders would be written up as warranty like repairs, only to be bounced back by the service department saying the item(s) on the repair ordewr are not the responsibioity of the RV manufactuer, even if they had installed a component (say, a refrigerator), and the item's manufacturer would then reject the warranty coverage v=because rhe item was either insalledd in an environment the unit was designed to operate in, or because the unit was used in aa commercial manner as it was part of a larger end product, as opposed to being used by a retail purchaser. And the sales department personnel were off the hook because in the sales contract is says that only the terms and conditions stated in the written contract were in effect, regardless of what the buyer night have been told verbally. I saw a few too many customers goet bounced around until they just gave up and either sold the RV, or got it repaired on their dime. And in the state where all this was happening, a lot of the consumer protections in place for automobile buyers were not applicable to RVs, and that was clearly part of the legislation that might otherwise have covered RV buyers and owners. So, it was back then that I decided if I ever wanted to go somewhere in an RV I would simply rent one, but never purchase one. That Camping World got nailed in this case is nice to see. I hate to see companies cheat consumers in any manner. Fair is fair, and when a consumer is cheated there is nothing fair about it.
I've been a van dweller since October of 2005 and have always built my own rigs. I've seen first hand how RVs are put together. Total garbage!! I'm blessed with the knowledge and ability to do most construction related things, so I can just build my own RV. I've found a flea market near Fort Knox, Kentucky that has cabinet plywood cut offs, that work perfectly for building cabinets in here. My current van is Oak and Walnut with Birdseye Maple trim. It looks like the interior of a private jet!
Every new car dealership are ripping people off like crazy The new cars and trucks that they have sold people 40 to $50,000 on each car or truck of bullshit fees everyone needs to be shut down
They put the extended warrenty on the contract already printed out. You have to stand up and tell them to take extended warrenty OFF and re print the contract. Standing up is a great way to communicate you are ready to walk out the door. Worked for me just fine. Firm talk with neutral tone of voice.
I got hosed at the end of Covid when I had to buy a new car. Morgan group is a ripoff. The owners have one of the most expensive homes in the country. I would have gotten a used car but they were even worse of a ripoff.
I came from the EU to the US in 2006 and wanted to get a used car. The price on the car said $1500 and I asked them if we can negotiate for $1200. They said "okay" and the bill they presented afterwards was north of $2000. When I said "you agreed to $1200, what is this BS", they started to explain the items.. And apparently they were ALL negotiable, because when I told them that we agreed on $1200 and started to leave, saying something like "maybe someone else will stick to their agreed prices", the final price suddenly became $1200 and the only thing they couldn't drop was $65 for registration. It feels like that could become the norm - because apparently it's possibnle for them to even have the VAT included in the price they put on that window sticker.
You can also record a notice with the legal description and include a picture of you, or not, along with contact information. This way when a title examiner and the escrow officer reads the notice they will know how to contact you. This way it gets caught when the thief tries to sell it.
When I sold my car to a large Toyota dealership, and then went back to buy the car back they had noted all the extra stuff I’ve bought and had installed on the car as extras. I told the sales man there no way I’m paying for Ceramic Tint when I had the ceramic tint professionally installed on the car. Worst thing about it is they had charged about 3x the amount of money than what I had paid a shop to do it.
I bought a new twenty seven foot Travel Trailer for a negotiated price. It was May and it had set on the dealer's lot for almost a year! It had two entry doors which we loved but had put other buyers off. I gave them a check for the agreed to price and we were both happy! It was a VERY good deal! No
Just watched a show this morning from criminal lawyer in WV this morning from 4 months ago is camping out let going to make you take down what you have learned about them like the other story I seen ✅‼️👍🏻
I recently bought a new 2024 Ford Escape. My local dealer didn't have what I was looking for but found one at another dealer about 50 miles away, Ford had a couple incentives available that took several hundred $ off the price, one was if I financed it thru Ford. They gave me a reasonable price for my trade and calculated the price if I financed and for a cash sale. I spoke with several at the dealership and told all of them that I would pay cash. I got a cashiers check for the cash amount from my credit union. A few days later they had the car and I went to pick it up and sign the paperwork with the salesman. The sales manager came by and said they screwed up by giving me the $500 finance incentive and tried to get me to finance it, to which I told them no way. I gave them the check and drove it home.
My first contact with Camping World was driving into the lot and realizing I wouldn't find trail gear. It wasnt really camping. I remember one guy said that camping for him was the nearest Howard Johnsons. The prices are too much for me. I can afford sleeping at a rest stop in my car.
The stations with the KING call signs are in King county Wa, so kinda makes sense.. But I don’t think it’s limited to the northwest. There’s plenty starting with W that spell things
A CNBC show called The Profit with Marcus Lemonis also owns Camping World. Why peopke would buy anything from that guy is beyond me. In one of his multi hour depositions when being sued he seemed not be able to remember anything. Slime. Shame on CNBC for allowing him a show to promote himself.
I recently purchased a small rv. I experienced the list of add ons with several dealers. I finally found one dealer that had an advertised price with only a document fee. It was worth looking for an honest dealer
The Clerk of cort/recorder office should require ID and proof of that the owner actually signed for any paperwork not coming from a reputable title co lawyer etc
I bought a motorcycle and saw the sales contract the previous owner signed. For a bike with a $7000 msrp they ended up paying over 12,000. $2000 extended 4 year warranty $1200 prepaid maintenance $900 for gps tracking fevice $500 for adm. I had to look that up. What is adm? The most junk charge of all , additional dealer markup. Thats the ignorant tax.
when you step into the finance office, refuse all of the stuff and show vague interest in the ones you want ... like an extended warranty or a service contract ... I just did this and eventually the manager said he would give them to me at employee pricing. And he did. So I paid employee pricing and saved a lot of money.
As an RV owner I have seen information that if you buy an RV in Oregon there is no sales tax. If this is true there are probably a lot of people from out of state that bought their RV in Oregon.
We bought a Honda Fit and were paying cash (we didn't' tell them upfront). Got done with all price negotiations. Then they brought out their finance guy. "Oh, we won't need financing, we're paying cash." They tried to pressure us to finance. "Nope, cash or we walk and you can shove the car." We got our car.

So True

They should have to refund double. Whats the punishment if they just pay back same?
Good point. They should have been penalized as well as compelled to return the over-charged amount.
Pretty sure they get to keep the RV.
Treble.

Good job.
I used to build them. The standards at most shops is pretty bad. Only worked at 1 that went out of their way to insure quality. Keystone
Yes!
I always negotiate all car, motorcycle etc. deals “Out the Door”. Always works great after the salesman gets over his annoyance.
They once tried to charge me for the tag when I picked it up at the dealership weeks later, but after reminding them that the price was out the door, they relented.
Wouldn’t you take it out the door anyways? I don’t get it.
Excellent advice.

Wise move. Most modern RVs are sticks-and-glue construction. DIY or custom-built are the only way to get something with structural integrity that can withstand more than a stiff breeze.

The ad contains important advice about protecting the title of your home, worth listening to!
Camping World has been dirty for a long time.
I’m surprised they didn’t have an early payment penalty in the contract.
3.5 million is just a slap on the wrist.
Depends on the number of customers affected, if it's like less than a hundred yeah I can see this being fair and a pretty potent warning in relative terms. But there ought to be a punitive fine in seven digits as well.
That's for 12 people in a small state
No consequences. They just gave back money that belonged to other people. It's like a bank robber giving the money back and not being put in prison.
Yes, 2024 3rd quarter profit was 498 million. So less than 1% of quarterly profit.
this was a location in Eugene Oregon. How many RVs did they really double charge on? 3.4 should be a decent payout.
This is why I negotiate the "out the door" price, even with cars.
Even in my 20's when I bought my first new Acura..."out the door" was the only number I wanted to hear. Bought 2 in a row from the same dealer. They will fold if you got the $$ and the sale is fast.
In most civilised countries, sellers are required to list the prices including ALL mandatory fees including taxes etc
Welcome to the United States...where we are no longer a civilized nation.
Those were the magic words I used before even going to the dealer. They saved me almost 10,000 dollars.
I use a variation of that: price plus tax and license. If there is anything else on the sales contract I walk away.
Wait....what???? Did Steve use a Calvin and Hobbs term at 6:48? Sweet!
Also seems to be involved in some gaming scenarios.
Me too I'm sorry for your pain 😔

Why's nobody going to prison for this blatant fraud?
Don't insult Motel 6!
Sales Person to Customer: :
“Pay no attention to those fees behind the curtain”.
I like your Jayco Blue-Jay shirt.🎉
Camping world made a billion dollars during COVID
Along with every RV sales

Camping world is the DR Horton of RV sales.... I unfortunately dealt with them once, crooked as it gets
Not bad enough. Camping World is the Clayton Homes of RV sales.
Does that make Steve the CyFy of internet reporting?
Both RV and Car dealers (I used to sell cars) make their money off of financing by working the deal for your monthly payment. That monthly payment hides all of the extra costs.
I only negotiate for the cash price, plus TTL. And once the dealer and I have agreed to the price, I stick to it. Period. And if they won't honor that price, I walk. You'd be surprised how often they'll give in.
shouldn't they be closed down because of illegal activities?

Wow, you don't hear about RV thefts often. Imagine trying to run from cops in an RV.
@Hatbox948 the reason I think they tore it up for copper is the fact that it was found less than a mile from a metal recycling place .
Some of the motor homes are close to a million dollars... This is not enough of a penalty (in my opinion)... 🤔

Love today’s shirt!
I walked out
It's a systemic issue across all their dealers
Once at BestBuy, I complained that the price didn't match the one on-line. They did a "Price Match".
If you have cash for a car or RV but you can save several thousands by financing thru the dealer; just finance it; get your great deal; then use your cash to pay it off in a month or two. It's a nasty game but we have to play it.
These sorts of settlements are important.
But I still find it disgusting that CEOs aren’t criminally prosecuted for fraud.
That's because people settle claims instead of pursuing it to the end in Court which will set a precedent helping prevent the same bad things from happening again. Sorry, no settlements- see ya in Court!
@@P_RO_
That's the sick and twisted rationalisation that criminal CEOs want you to believe so they can avoid accountability.
In my state (Oklahoma) the county clerk will alert you, if you sign up for it, for free if someone files anything concerning your property.
Completely agree on going through the contract, everything is negotiable
In state of Oregon I bought a used pickup truck from dealership wrote a check for 10k and put it on the desk , salesman said great now how do you want to handle the additional fees and charges. I said I included them in the check, either give me the keys or tear up my check! They gave me the keys two hours later
the fees all these dealers tack on are such BS
when my mom got her current SUV, the dealership scammed her through all the fees they tossed on, effectively negating her trade-in value for her old car (after effectively spending the whole day wearing her down trying to buy the damn thing off her)
they even charged her a shipping fee when it was bought off the dealer's lot
So does Camping World still come out ahead on the double-charging since they still get the increased sales foot traffic, profit from customers who bought other non-sale RVs, warranty service work, financing profit, etc.????
Way to go, Oregon!
Edit: 11:45 We have 7 Camping World locations here. We do love to camp, after all.
I've been looking at their RV's and stumbled upon this video. I'll look elsewhere now. Thank you! Reno, Nevada Camping World.
