I’m simultaneously hit with nostalgia and appreciation for the awesomeness of this track. I bought the physical 12” what was it - back in 1990? 89? 91? I can’t remember. But I had this picture from the vinyl cover cut out and taped to the cover of my turntable. Played it all the time. Great, great, great, great song. Great artist. Legendary career.
I can not believe how times changed... Already 26 years since this song was released. Madonna being the most succesful female artist, icon, and today ignorant new generations shitting here without knowing who M really is...
@@MR-fx9gg they actually don’t.. all have heard her name BUT some/most really don’t know who she is!! And some (I’m talkin’ YOUNG!) I believe get her confused w/Marilyn because they’ll say isn’t she dead? LOL #sad M A D💖N N A
I think because the video for Oh Father didn't generate massive airplay, they moved on to film Vogue and this gorgeous single never got a video. Sad because the same happened with Dress You Up; lucky we have the gorgeous live videos for both!
@@got2bjosh Choice of drum machine is always what dates a record. Sometimes the choice of the DX7 analogue E Piano esque patches will too. But this has a textbook 90s drum beat. When people say a record “sounds modern” it’s usually because it uses an analog drum machine that never fell out of favor in the contemporary.
Immaculate Collection and Celebration should have had a mix that had parts of this mix and the Shep Petitbone 12’ mix. This one is cool because it has parts of original baseline but updated beats and some cool scratches and samples. And the other mix was more of a house vibe
@955pokerface....Madonna released an Alternate Single Remix for her new album Finally Enough Love it was reworked to include the unique intro and outro from the 12 remix of the song...hope you have a chance purchase the whole album...
I'll be damned. this song is so good and obviously overshadowed by Vogue in my opinion. I like this extended remix. This last single from Like A Prayer told of Madonna's huge star power before she became an even bigger STAR prior to her VOGUE power. Ironic that this song was B-side to it.
Keep it togetheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer => hit it! => isolated Bass=> Cowbell Percussion => Drums => Hey! Wha-What!" much better intro than the regular 12" Mix also the "uh uh" sample at the outro much better too and it doesn't end in fade.
@@lashercollette88 It wasn't on TH-cam when the comment was originally written. I bought the maxi single many years ago, but now I no longer use physical media.

nativesun 1989
best version by far...was the version i used to play at the club every weekend
Best version, this is the only version that was played on radio here in Costa Rica back in 1990 on 103 La Radio Joven.
For those that don't know, what you're listening to is The 45 King remix of this Madonna track.
Yes I had this on Vinyl ...I was searching for it! 45 king killed this track!
I don’t remember this being THIS FUCKING DOPE. I have this maxi single!
RIP 45 KING

Everyone knows who M is even today
I agree. Unfortunately the new generation is ageist. To them Madonna is too old. But age is no barrier.
Dua lipa is telling she wants the same career of Madonna ...everyone knows Madonna because she s a legend.. the mainstream can t re write the history

Madonna Rocks!! :) :)
I wonder why she didn't make this into a video...love this song.

great 12 mix version this got airplay in atlanta including the album version
In Dallas too
My fav remix of this song :-)
Christina Miro Idemmm! Very compliment for the Remix!! WOW! ;)
Best version. The harmonies are strange -- in a good way.
Extended 12" Mix is the best version. This has more dated production whereas the song comes alive with the piano in the former.

45 King 👑 is also famous for producing "Come Into My House" by Queen Latifah.
He also did most of her first album, save for a couple of tracks. He later produced "Stan" and "Hard Knock Life." A legend for sure.
I been reading about the 45 king and that's why I am watching this video
I got all her cd5 maxi singles til hung up I stop buying it..
I need the Extended 12" Mix. It's better and now impossible to find.
