Can this be done with the original keys? Both of mine trigger a "key fob not detected" indication on the dash.

Hi Chris, Have you done all keys lost on a 2018 Renegade with with AutoProPad Lite, I thought this was Witech 2 only. Thanks

Yes, it is. But, some aftermarket key programmers are using bypass security gateway software. Usually you connect the plug on the security gateway which will bypass it and can get then program keys. You can also get the PIN with those tools. The best one out there is of course Advanced Diagnostic Tool. It's updated daily and can do almost any car, new or old. It's just a very expensive machine. :(

Programming is no different than in the past. What's important is seeing exactly how you're connecting to the vehicle.

    Hi,
I am in CA. Do I needed a locksmith license ( or is it legal) if I simply program car keys and remotes for people on weekends? I don't make keys or cut keys. Thanks

    • @ThEmEsSiAh187-CFGeorge
      @ThEmEsSiAh187-CFGeorge 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It's not illegal...ish. Depends on what you use it for. You can make side money using the tool. You don't need any license to do this. Now, if you use it to do illegal stuff, then yeah.

@@ThEmEsSiAh187-CFGeorge Thanks. I guess I will stick with simple remote sale and programming, not key programming. I had a guy customer that threat me tried to scam me to pay for his car engine light code issues citing something I did, which probably were there before I attempted his key programming unsuccessfully.
Interestingly, also got this response from BSIS Licensing
below. Imo - CA state always wants you or anyone to pay $1000+ for license even on little side jobs)

Subject: RE: Selling Car Keyless Remotes and Car Key Programming Services

      Hello,

Pursuant to Section 69870(j) of the Business and Professions Code, the electronic programming of automotive keys and electronic operating devices, such as key fobs, door and ignition key devices fall under the definition of “Locksmith.” Licensure with the Bureau is required in order to legally perform the functions you listed.

      Regards,

Subject: Selling Car Keyless Remotes and Car Key Programming Services
      Importance: High
      Good Evening,
I have a simple question in regard to the 2 items.

      (1) Offer to sell keyless car remotes with remote programming service included. Operate mostly on weekends.
      (2) Offer to only program transponder chip car key service where people bought their own car keys. No making keys, no selling keys, no cutting keys, no duplicating keys, no repair key of any kind. Operate mostly on weekends.

Are these simple services, weekend kind of side business, legally required automotive locksmith license for an individual?
      Please advise.
      Regards

Didn't even remotely mention connecting the autopropad to the vehicle, which is the confusing part. Anyone can follow the on screen menus. Useless video.
