Tilman has really hit home when saying... just go get it, while at the same time being willing to take risks and ready for anything. All based on how you really feel and being a good listener to be an unstoppable and trusted leader. It would be interesting to learn how he really goes about keeping fit both physically and mentally.I wouldn't be surprised if he regularly attends some kind of mind-body or bodywork sessions like yoga, pilates, bare or myofascial release practice to keep this fearless energy flow going smooth at all times.
What I love about Tilman is he is not a bullshitter, any of those emotional questions you asked him other people would of recalled of a load of bullshit like, special moments, special people, your wife etc... he gave true answers, I don't know, there wasn't one. Got his book on Audio is awesome he is no1 on my bucket list of people to meet.
Love Tilman Fertitta! Thanks for interviewing him! I could easily tell that you greatly admired the guy, but one of the reasons I like your interviewing style is because you never talk over your guests--until today. Take a breath Lewis! You're doing a great job, too!
Agreed, Jason. @Lewis Howes, thanks for asking him about how he keeps his kids grounded and how his wife has contributed to his success. The stats show that most billionaires are married, and having a good partner is definitely a motivation and support to do GREAT things! :)
dude I love your podcast, this is the first youtube vid ive searched of you and....a) you look like a sweet looking 'ross' (not that im a friends fan or anything)...b) i love how ur so curious and humble c) im a big fan man im on your rail for life, i believe you are genuine when you tell people they are loved, and that you want to do the right thing, i think the big G is as well (y)
Tilman reaches out to touch Lewis a lot of times during the conversation, while keeping sparkling eye contact. It appears to be a good gesture to touch lightly the person in conversation. I have a friend who does similarly, even to strangers he just meet, and he connects asap. Connecting with light touch in the arm is the best way.
I am thinking about a new type of restaurants: eating-spots in eating-spots, food keeps changing, chefs also rotate this is opposed to current restaurants, thanks to this rotation of food and chefs, eating-spots are more powerful than restaurants, along with that, there is an app, people vote for the food that will be cooked in the next days. menu is influenced by the live input of the people via an app.
Great interview. My wife took me out for my bday at one of his restaurants just a few days ago. I had no idea that he owned it until I saw an ad for his book. Just another way of the universe showing me the way! #GoRockets
Always Valuable Content 💰 Fertitta is the Bull 💰 I’m going to try and Partnerup with Fertitta to Hydro Ag Living Microgreens Salad Bar Farm in his Hotel & Restaurants 🌱👨🌾💰.
Great interview. Made Tilman really have to stop and think about his answers rather than give just canned responses. Some questions he seemed uncomfortable answering or maybe he was being less than 100% truthful. For example, the questions delving into his personal life. He looked down several times after giving his answers and he was more soft spoken, whereas he was far more enthusiastic, engaging, and was making eye contact with you when discussing his success in the business world. I don't know, his body language seemed to suggest that he was not being forthcoming at times.
The monetary value of the book is probably less than anything he has done, but you need to look at the other side as well. He is becoming a huge mentor and celebrity to others who want to emulate him is multiple aspects. His popularity is sky rocketing due to the book. So you need to look at the Non-fungible angle of this book because there is always the non physical aspect which has a greater impact on the population.
So crazy i always feel im coming into something be it this interview since ive just recently turned into a fan of Tillman's in the last 3 months prior to this i knew of him and him being our native billionaire. Ive grown an obsession for hotels interiors. Thank to my wife and i being in the furniture business and just are nack for staying in gorgeous hotels. But now listening to this and already have read his book he just put out last month i feel being in business is my calling. Hospitality is always #1 no matter what business you're in. This being a coincidence i think not. Go Rockets 🚀 🔥

Most rich families lose their wealth after generation 3. The book "family Fortunes' by Bill Bonner helps get over that hurdle. I like the bit when Tilman talked about how his wife has always been there.
Yes, I've heard that too: that they say the first generation makes the wealth, the second generation spends it, the third generation loses it. Whilst this level of wealth does appear attractive, I don't think it's always a good think to have it handed down in it's entirety throughout all generations. I do however think portions could and should it should be used to support the inspirations of succeeding generations so that they keep bringing new ideas into the world. To have such wealth handed down to you can stifle the hunger to create new enterprise. I understand that to be Buffet's thinking, and hence a large reason why he's not leaving his kids large inheritances.
Tilman is one of the few people I greatly admire but I disagree, no one achieves greatness through a long arduous journey of monumental success from nothing without blood sweat and tears and have not been at that breaking moment but persevered. That’s the key success between success and failure - tenacity.
When a person tells me they "fear nothing", I know they're full of shit. That's a dead giveaway of a bullshitter. Especially if that person has children. How can someone love their children and not be afraid for them in this messed up world? My answer. They can't. Glad the guy has had success and hope it continues. He's had an amazing run. That's for sure.
The reason he bought that team is because he knows that team is huge in China. If I was him, I'd buy a couple other teams if I could through some other company. The future is huge money, huge deals etc. Especially when you're dealing with a market that has billions of Chinese hungry for sports. He'll turn around and sell this shit for ten times or more. Nice move. Simple, straight forward and thinking huge. That's how it's done.
Great interview, I'm not sure when this was filmed but some insight on his response to GM Daryl Morey and the HK issue would have been very appreciated
He refused to state that he would be in this position if not for his wife. True enough, I mean credit must go to the wife, but a great man does not need a good wife for him to be great. Wife or no wife he will make it.
This is Lewis How's show, his talk, he reached out to a Billionnaire and sharing this for free.. I'd focus on what I can learn from listening to a man like Tilman who many won't even be able to meet so stop being nit picky..
People in the comments judging this man on their phones made in China. Get off your high horse. We all benefit from China. Everything is made there. Sorry😂😂
You sound like an agent for the CCP. China does not benefit us in anyway, they steal from us every day, they hack all companies and all private individuals. And of course they spread the bio weapon known as coronavirus. The CCP must be destroyed.
Tillman gets libor rate loans... pretty easy to expand when you get near-zero rate loans. His brother-in-law is a broker that gets him below market rate loans... used to be a Morgan Stanley broker... but recently went independent so that he can keep a larger percentage of the fees Tillman is charged. Boom... not as impressive of a guy as some think. Here’s the announcement... coat-tails anyone? www.chron.com/business/bizfeed/article/Morgan-Stanley-team-breaks-away-to-form-Americana-13807102.php
Once again, so much gold here in your interviews. This is solid life advice. I´m a fan! Thank you.
My hero
Tilman is a rare breed among the many wealthy business people. He’s truly admirable. We wish him continued success in the future.

Tillman is so inspiring!! Lewis I can't thank you enough for having him on! Thank you!!
Pre-ordered his book, cant wait to read it!.
The last question really made the interview amazing!
I hate how our current culture is blaming billionaires for their misfortune rather than trying to learn from the them.
I want to be that kind of Father. Thanks for this video, Lewis & team!
Agreed, Jason. @Lewis Howes, thanks for asking him about how he keeps his kids grounded and how his wife has contributed to his success. The stats show that most billionaires are married, and having a good partner is definitely a motivation and support to do GREAT things! :)
Tillman is exceptionally admirable person
The man is a genius! I am reading his book “Shut Up and Listen” top insights all round.

For a guy interviewing a billionaire on a book called Shut up and listen, he sure loves to interrupt.

The sequel should be called 'shut up and be humble (unlike me)'
He's not the most humble guy.

What does it profit a man if he was to gain the whole world and yet lose his soul
if i wanted something bad enough i just buy it
There is a paddle for everybody's …...so harbor empathy while in charge!
