Small correction: Charlemagne was succeeded by his son Emperor Louis the Pious, initially co-ruling with his father for the last year of his life (813-14) and already king of Aquitaine, a lesser kingdom under Carolingian Suzerainty, he inherited Charlemagne’s legacy and kept the empire together until his death in 840. It is his (Louis the Pious) sons, Charlemagne’s grandchildren, that fought over the Carolingian Thrown, dividing the empire into 3 domains, in 843. The Eastern portion under Louis the German, forming the basis for Germany that as a de facto kingdom was destined to spend a millennium struggling to assemble until 1870; with the central portion or Middle Frankia, of Charlemagne’s empire, under Lothair I, breaking up proceeding his death, into: the present day Netherlands and Belgium, Lorraine (from Lothair), Alsace, The Duchy of Parma, Provence and the Rhine Region. Only West Frankia, evolving into France, survived uninterruptedly as a political unit, and coming close to dissolution many times as the kings in Paris struggled to justify to their vessels in Aquitaine, Normandy, Flanders and Burgandy why they ought to be supreme. The story of France, arguably until 1871, can be viewed as: Paris and Île da France, seesawing with neighbours within and outside of France from the reign of King Louis V, the final Carolingian monarch and fourth great-grandson of Charlemagne. The Carolingian Dynasty declining the same way as the Merovingians before them, with a couple of weak-do nothing kings being led around by power-brokers. No ! Nobody knows where the Franks came from. The Roman historians don't mention their name. The Franks were like the Saxons, the Alemani, the Alan's : groups of people from different origin and places that meddle and form a confederation. There is no historical proof that the batavians mixed with the Franks. These people were constantly moving, adopting the language and religion of the people who led the confederation. For example, the Burgundians disappeared and reappeared several times. Same for the Ostrogoths .these people moved a lot and mixed with other people .

Great video as always but one correction. It was his grandkids that split up the Frankish Empire not his children. Charlemagne only had one son, Louis the Pious, that survived until after his death so there weren't any other siblings to split it up between. But Louis had three sons of his own which split up the kingdom.
Treaty of Verdun, signed in August 843, was the first of the treaties that divided the Carolingian Empire into three kingdoms among the three surviving sons of Louis the Pious, who was the son of Charlemagne.

Charles the hammer Martel is a joke. He did not stop the caliphate. The original King of the Caliphate was Military genius. If the original Military Genius King did not stop plundering and raised his sons in Iberia there would be No Europe or Britain as we know today because he command from the middle of Africa to Morocco. That was close to 9 million soldiers. His sons could not muster that many under their banner. Any one claiming to stop that Caliphate is garnered no respect. They stopped a Remnant of the original Caliphate King.
Dude you are wrong about being a Islamic Caliphate. The Islamic Caliphate tried 3 times to Kill the King of Morocco and on the Third time after losing three wars to him, the Islamic Caliphate asked him to be King of that Caliphate because they could not beat him. Than the Islamic Caliphate then asked him to invade Europe because Caliphate wanted to dominate they whole world. The King of Morocco newlyCrowned King of the Caliphate than died after living in Iberia and raising his sons in peace and not in a desert. His sons than with their forces tried to take the rest of Europe and were unsuccessful.
At 8;24 why be a subsect of christianity, especially catholic where there's no great reason for rituals that they recently conducted in, I would condone the rituals more if there wasn't an obvious sorta dance with dead look which I've done something similar and lived to regret it, + maybe it would be savvy to use incense and salt to stave off evil spirits, but it appears as if they welcome them by the bowing and the circle after the "dance" or walking in certain places for a moment for alien seeming reasons, charlemagne is more like napoleon, because his saving of the pope was probably political as the feigned surprised to not knight hood but instead, hey guess what your king now, also pico mandolin did his theses on the 900, and charlemagne did whatever in 800 ad, I don't think any of its a coincidence per say, or perhaps never happened at all, because if so how could napoleon spearhead and I'm guessing he did enough, and also somehow his ships were faster, he was obviously a socialist because of peire, and supposedly listened to him when exiled to a wonderland his own island and freedom with a bunch of servants supposedly, and then somehow sarcastically came back to france to throw more lives seemingly voluntary like hitler away on both sides for what reason?! And is still somehow hailed and bullet proofed do to socialism, a version of humanism, totalitarianism, all the same cat in the bag, so ur book sneeches by dr sues, somehow what the doctor ordered, to be a ratt, sometimes all u need to do is unveil already obvious information, and this is certainly obviously 1 of those areas because the subjects aren't history obscura like max erin von schweidnerichter, which would have recognized the armenian genocide as early as 24, by being told that from his mentor in whom went down with him trying to take the police station to start the brown shirts, but he lived tho arm out of the socket from his falling killed mentor since they locked arms before the march towards the station, the end part instead isn't so much strictly dicltly confidential information a german could know it I met one working fastfood. But the initial part is certainly most likely definitely confidential information, and was made likely to invite resistance, so that way the priority of targets hit were the sneeches. As far as the one sided deal of it all goes, they say there's another side with a singular mentality or alignment when it comes to good or evil that makes man not prosper or move on, a sorta stalemate or lethal stagnation, just because we're all deemed as categorically evil, doesn't mean that they still said a day with jesus is like a 1000 years and 1000 years a day, I met a guy that claimed to be part of the mexican mafia he emitted light on 1 occasion, he told me of some of my future if I survived at least for that long. There is no good person at least categorically, also you maybe able to convince yourself your 1 I try. I won't stop trying, but always remember if salt isn't salty, and I believe more than usual if jesus did mean well it was to opress people appropriately, and I came up with a saying from forest gump that helps, "whats wrong you don't like chocolate you just ate a box of it", so christianity becomes the foundation of individualism or secularism just add that, and johny depp octopus style at work and it cancels out having to actively act like a sense of urgency, because u will either be on par with the best workers or be the best one, so don't argue if they tell u to look as a sense of urgency just stay busy always, and make a god deal even as an atheist, you tell your rel or pretend god because I'm one of the ones that didn't believe jesus is god, but believed more in the end of the universe is like a turtle and were all in god, like discworld sorta on psx, and that god maybe in another dimension mainly, but the only not abe lincoln statue type god is the loophole that he's only god the father because of the big bang, and its up for u t assume or control as much as you need to the nature of man, because everybody usually go's without and make plans accordingly that does often take time sacrifice and effort to change directions enough to benefit from a more beneficial reality in general, abe lincoln god comes from trying to prove jesus wrong because your stuck being in the wrong because of what I call petri dish god, the other god is possible at times which is other dimension or heaven, and haters haterade often comes from, I call guff god, which I got from the story of the guff, which seems like a sleepy uneventful purgatory, but look at how conscience wood elves are at times, so to pay homage to god even if it is different than what jesus believers would do, you say if I enjoy it I appreciate life, found out later jesus says enjoy the hard times enjoy the good times, but initially thought it just solely a trap as a child, then there's playing into and out of behavior acts, we're all actors and true truth maybe idd so u must refrain always in ways or areas, so don't be 1 way you'll get stuck being or you'll quit your job under the idea hey I always been funny, but also feeling trapped even with job security and people that trust you, then I got a magic word trick, it's say when u ask yourself if your patient say yes of course I'm patient because I'm enjoying it, and before that or after say patient is a naughty dirty word, never even think that awful word patience, I can whistle the song to where u can't tell the difference, I thought of pom pokko where the old guy teacher says in prayer were sorry for killing humans and they all bust out laughing and partying, some do things with their hands that remind me of my mother's somewhat unique style, she also told me to always stay moving on the job, 1 time I was given a job with no objective or training as a lobby guy at mcdies, and 2 older ladies said we want to talk to your boss about getting you a raise, that made my day sorta. I believed this would help out more than just considerably, I live in a county where maybe up to greater than 9/10ths of the population have to work jobs or die within the month. And seemingly everyone is independent either traditionally or religious both, the last word of caution is to know things the dangers when you might enter a new field, and never go against the clans unless it's needed like for instance find out what neighborhoods are monopolized by mexicans like in texas, give them there space because it could be that there's no warning when you go to do a roofing job in a certain area, and believe me in some cases "or all" it's not worth even attempting a risk, the exception is if they take more area than should be allotted, sides that it's easier to have fixed area negotiations because of urged lack in arbitration, meaning shoot the messenger is more likely than trying to come to an agreement, and you can just find out what the borders are from someone. It's just like land our areas are segregated for convenience as well as survival.

Were the Merovingians the ancestors of King Louis XIV of France? Were the Carolingians the ancestors of King Louis XIV of France? 👑💍🇫🇷
Oui car les Capétiens (bourbon ) sont des francs comme tout les roi de France 😳 sauf les Napoléoniens
Delilah was woman, she was fine and fair. She had nothing but her long brown hair. Delilah she gained old Samson's mind; when first he met this woman, she looked so fine. Delilah she got up on old Samson's knee and said, "Tell me where your strength lies, if you please," and she spoke so kind, Lord, she talked so fair, that Samson said, "Delilah, you cut off my hair; you can shave my head clean as my hand and my strength become as natural as any old man."
When did Theo Von become such a history buff?
These "barbarian invasions" can more reasonably be characterized as self defense.

How much Germanic ancestry do you have ? Do you still speak your native Germanic tongue without Latin influence ? Do you still practice paganism ?

For the pronunciation of Charlemagne, it will be easier for you to say charlemane, it's not exactly this, but closer and easier for English speakers ;)
Contrary to popular belief, Pepin the Short was not short at all. In fact, he was very tall at well over 6'0"! 👑💍

I'm sorry, but I have a hell of time following this guy: his voice is a monotone machine buzzing and I have trouble focusing on what he says.

I have never understood why French isn't a Germanic language. It should be. Why isn't it? Frankish was.
Le français et un mélange latin vulgaire et franc (germains) le français et la langue latine la plus germanique
Pour la raison aussi que les francs non jamais chercher a imposer leurs langue et leurs cultures il se sont mélanger a la population et ca a donné les français et le français

Great video Tom. Charlemagne “the father of Europe”. Some genealogists say most Western Europeans are descendants of Charlemagne, do you believe this?
If he had plenty of children, it would could well be.
If you have done any ancestry research ( look up gateway ancestors). If you have ANY real relationship to him, it will show.
I have DIRECT ties to him through a couple of ancestors ( he is a Gxxx grandfather).

I've always thought that Arian Christianity argued that Jesus was fully human
Arianism says that the Father is superior to the Son in the context of the Trinity
@@graysonguinn1943 well specifically it states that the son is a creation of the father. Orthodox trinitarianism would say the son always existed with the father and was not created.
Some Arian doctrine did believe Jesus was just human, not divine.
The only thing that the French today have in common with the Franks is the name. The Germans, Dutch, Scandinavians and the English have more in common with the Franks since they are all of Germanic ancestry. The Dutch language along with some German regional languages came directly from the Franks.
Then what are the French of today considered to be?
@@Jesus.purple The French people of today are mostly Celtic or Romanic with Iberian and Greek ancestry in the mix. There is only a minority of people left who are Germanic who (mostly) live in Normandy
@@Weda01 Thanks so much🌸💮🏵🌹. :)
@@Jesus.purple np :)
@@Weda01 No, in Normandy there is a later Viking influence. Franks were not Normans or Scandinavian. They came from alongside the Danube.
