Certain Parts of Medicare Part B will be changing in 2023 based on a proposed rule, as well as cost redetermination for the new Alzheimer's medication Aduhelm.
Currently Medicare Part B enrollment periods have more limitations, and may make you wait for a delay in Part B coverage based on when you enroll. The new proposed rule would change some of these enrollment period effective dates in 2023 to allow coverage sooner, without as many effective date delays. Additionally, new Part B special enrollment periods will be granted for folks with special life event circumstances.

Seniors should not have to pay for Part B. Why give a young person a free ride for college and make the seniors pay for it. The government needs to help senior's. Shameful moves by our leaders.

It’s disgusting that Seniors are not only charged a premium on Medicare B but it doesn’t cover such important things like their TEETH, EYESIGHT and HEARING! Last time l checked these were part of one’s body.

And we paid the premiums our entire working career, forced to take it at age 65, currently paying $170 a month AND have a deductible. Total BS for basically a physical every year. I’d rather opt out, pay a bit more for my supplement and keep the government out. Another government program that needs some common sense management.

Medicare needs to cover Sight , teeth & hearing. All of those are just as important as the rest of the body.
If things go wrong with teeth & eyes ( infection/ surgery) can mess up your entire body.

You would think a government entity that has to pay such absorbitant drug prices would force the drug companies to lower their prices. But instead they don't care they just pass it on to the recipient.

Yes I've got several and I'm new to this. I didn't know that people were getting screwed by going on this crap. Seems that the most important things like eye, dental and hearing are not covered and these are the things that aging people should have period. Now explain to me why the cost went from 140.00 to 170.10? I can answer this they came up with a drug for Parkinson I believe that was horrible in cost and wasn't FDA approved to do anything for what it was made for so manufacture cut the cost but it's still now proven to actually do anything. So why didn't the cost of Medicare drop back to the 140.00? I can answer that too this friggen Government of ours. Next if Part C covers everything that part A and B covers and also gives you more then why should we even need parts A and B part C should be all we need. Again I can answer this question our great Government once again screwing the people! I had no idea that this is like it is until I (HAD) to sign-up for Medicare! It's no wonder people are starving and can't afford to heat or cool their homes! This is absolutely 💯% bull! Time for a drastic change in this crap or of course is it all about raping the folks that are forced to be on this crap! All my years working busting my butt driving across this country of ours making sure that the American people have the supplies they need to survive yes I'm a long haul trucker! No thanks necessary got none in 49 years don't expect any now either. I'm sick and tired of seeing people starving, freezing, baking their brains out because of crap like this! Just like our service men and women who fought for this shit hole for nothing just look at it I put my life on the line everyday for what only to get bent over the fuel tank when it's time to retire! Thanks a bunch for nothing! Yes if you haven't figured it out yet I'm very pissed about all this. There's no reason for it! Pay in all your working life on a bunch of crap that's not worth the paper it was printed on! More money more money pay this pay that for things that should have already been taken care of so I can sit back and enjoy the few years I have left. Yes nobody gives a ratsa@@ about any of this or it would have been changed long before now! Have a great day!

You should have included the actual initial projected cost of the new Alz drug and the projected 1/2 price cost. This drug has shown no benefit and for CMS to increase our Part B premium based on a drug that actually isn't effective is asinine. We need national Healthcare. Drug companies are making billions while people cannot even afford insulin. Christopher Westfall's channel gives far more info than yours.

Thet made me take physical therapy which I think made things worse!....anyway.....how they get away with treating people they way they do is way beyond me! As always, Stephanie, very thorough yet concise simplified overview of otherwise difficult to understand machinations around our Medicare coverage. It'll be very interesting to see if the drastic reduction from the expected cost of that Alzheimer med will result in a corresponding "largest reduction in history" for the Pt B premium . . . not holding my breath on that, but nice to know that at least this change in that particular reason for the 2022 increase will at least mitigate/offset any other potential reasons for raising 2023 premiums.

I'm working past age 65 and have good employee coverage but I've been told by one that I should still go online and enroll in part A, and another told me I don't do anything because I'll automatically be enrolled and will be sent my part A card. Confused.

You will be auto-enrolled in Part A if you are collecting social security benefits, or when you do start collecting social security benefits. If you're not collecting yet, you can choose to actively enroll in Part A only and delay Part B, or delay both. If you delay both, your Part A will become retroactive when you go to enroll in Part B (like when you retire). Many folks delay both Parts A and B while still working, since if you remain on your employer health plan then the employer coverage will be primary and Medicare Part A will likely not see or pay on any claims. However, you can enroll in Part A while still working and delay Part B, since Part A is free. It's up to you. If you have an HSA and are making contributions then you should not enroll in Part A until you retire/plan to stop contributing to avoid tax penalties.

My employer provided insurance meets that standard and I received the letter stating that. It,s an important detail. @@AbtInsuranceAgency k

Do have any idea of what Part B may do about the new tubeless Insulet Omnipod 5 closed-loop insulin pump system? They have only aloud coverage for tubed systems as it is considered DME. Will they rethink the benefits of the direction of technology as an upward thing? Right now, Part D plans are required to cover tubeless pumps. I think I am only asking this; have you heard anything at all about this, a change, no change, or no mention? Thanks!

I don't understand if you paid into "Medicare", when you worked. And yet have to pay for part "B"? Then besides a person doesn't get enough from SS or SSDI. In the first place. Why they take so much out? It would even be understandable if they would take half. Of the $170.

Part B may be giving us a rebate on overpayment in 2022…..so the 2023 increase will have that rebate reducing the costs. The following year, without the rebate….the annual increase will seem high.

I paid into Medicare all my life, but do not have Part A & B coverage because I moved overseas. When are they going to extend Medicare coverage for American Citizens living overseas and help pay for some of our medical expenses that we paid for during our lifetime? I am also now paying over $400 a month in Medicare Part B insurance, and get nothing in return.

    • @AbtInsuranceAgency

Part D covers most prescriptions, but certain non-self-administered medications are covered by Part B. This includes things like chemo, and certain injections and infusions.

Thank you for this informative video. I have a specific question. I am 66 & 1 mo., and enrolled in Part A at 65, and Part B at 66, as I was stilled covered by an employer until 8/1/22. On 8/1/22 I enrolled with an Advantage Plan thru Martin’s Point Healthcare (NH/ME). I now wish to transition to MR & Supplemental for reasons of coverage beyond Martins Point’s network. Question: When can I do this WITHOUT the need for pre-qual physical or review? Thank you in advance?

Question. I being on B already for several years but my spouse is coming to the 65 line, she stopped working because the pandemic but she keep saying she will start working again at least part time , so she is not planing to apply for SS as she reach 65…. She still need to get Medicare? Even if she don’t have income ? Or at that time she have to apply for SS so Medicare can deduct the premium for Medicare.
    Thank you

From my insurance company WellCare I’ve heard that who ever is on Medicaid program in New York City, shouldn’t be paying Medicare premiums.

Why do all us seniors get penalized for Medicare drugs for the unhealthy when I would much rather not be forced to be under plan b at all? Why can’t we just have one insurance to cover all cost. I already pay a very high premium to be under G plan.
