I am 78 and lived in London in the 1960's and 70's. Place was different then ! Always look forward to your videos , you have a very pleasant presentation manner which goes well with my afternoon cup of tea.
What an hidden gem of a channel! Have searched for videos like this for a long time, Tom the Taxi driver is superb but this calm format and sped up clips are amazing! You’ve got yourself a new follower!
I'm looking forward to new videos. I like the way you're presenting the contents. I've recently subscribed to your channel. I'm not a native speaker of English, but I'm a frequent visitor to London, which is my favourite city. And I also pay attention to the language you use. I've learnt the use of "comply", when you talk about driving along some streets.
I'm 76 and a Londoner living in exile, on my own now so look forward to videos like yours. I like your positive attitude and lack of whingeing. Only two London taxi channels I watch on TH-cam, and yours is one.
Nice 1 as Always Mark👍👍Top quality Vlog👌.Good to see the wheels turning and earning👍. I guessed £28.60 . Be lucky mate and looking forward to your next Vlog 👍
At 17:03 on the video (the very beginning of Hammersmith Road after Ken High), on the side street going left, there used to be a great "down home" cafe, heavily frequented by cabbies. I wonder if it is still there?
@@Markstaxidiaries It's literally JUST the first left (as you drive west) JUST across the railway bridge where Ken High St becomes Hammersmith Road, on the Hammersmith Road side. The cafe is (or used to be) basically in the side of the railway cutting by the bridge. Looking it up "Addison Bridge Place" is the street. And the cafe in question might be "Frank's" It looks still to be in operation! They did a great breakfast sandwich in the late 1970s. Maybe they still do! :-) based on photos recently posted.
On the knowledge of London, comply means to go in the correct direction of a square or roundabout. Basically, if you come to a roundabout you turn left to comply and not right……where you may run into trouble😬 Hope that made sense.
This was a run avoiding traffic and just one set of traffic lights. An available rat run that saves the customer money and time. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
I had no idea that Cliveden Place is pronounced differently from its namesake, Cliveden House. I suppose it must be a similar situation to Harewood village and Harewood House (at least until the 8th Earl recently declared he was adopting the more intuitive pronunciation).
@ thank you for the insight, looks like a pleasant job but I’m worried I will have to do 10-12 hour shifts with all the high outgoings. I currently work 7.5 hour for 6 days and 4.5 on the 7th
Guessed ~24 ish. Worse than my guess last time! Looks like the pre-Xmas tourist rush is ramping up. Can most certainly feel it on buses in Central London nowadays where the seats can fill up quite quickly when large groups/families of tourists board!
When you are commentating the route, sometimes you use the word comply. What does this mean. I am assuming it is for a one way system but I'm only guessing.
Mark, when you say "flag fall" is that referring to an old cab having a flag on the side to say whether it was for hire or not ? This is a little tenuous as I'm not sure whether I've remembered something that isn't true or not. If that makes sense. Have a great weekend you crazy cat.
@Markstaxidiaries thank you for clarifying. Thought I may be losing my marbles 😂. Ps, Port Isaac is beautiful. Ealing or Cornwall, I know which I'd choose lol.
Don't let TFL find out , they'll have yer badge , their currently dragging me through the hoops for copping 3 points at 25mph Cromwell Rd by Marloes. That camera is very concealed with low trees and road furniture. I should have known better but Im now seeing it flash regular, Butterboy got done the other morning poor sod.
Feels weird turning west on Bayswater for Victoria, stay on the bus lanes and big roads for this one, way quicker and always remember when passengers have a bus-plane to catch time is far more important. Bayswater Pk lane Eton sq
40 quit I guess. Oops, how wrong was I. Something different. It is great how the human brain works. The things you memorize. It seems so normal, but it is a small miracle.

Can you remember the name of the street? Always interested in a good cabbie cafe

Cheers Ali! Hopefully by next year I can get one out every week instead of just every fortnight.
What a pleasant chap and video! But what does "comply" mean when Mark is describing his directions?
On the knowledge of London, comply means to go in the correct direction of a square or roundabout. Basically, if you come to a roundabout you turn left to comply and not right……where you may run into trouble😬
Hope that made sense.
@@JohnnyBovril Thanks, Johnny!
I thought £28 - £30. Not a million miles away.
Another great video!
Well done! 👏
Great video👍
Good beard vibes!! Does Dave in the back like it?
He loves it! Tugged it already thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Hi Mark, how many miles do you typically do on a typical day, and fuel amount used?
Between 69 and 79, not a lot of fuel if I’m already charged up tbh
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Hiii. What's a cabbies run?
This was a run avoiding traffic and just one set of traffic lights. An available rat run that saves the customer money and time. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@Markstaxidiaries appreciate the reply. Atm on KOL finished BB and started pointing. You and Tom keep me motivated. thanks 👍
Would be really interesting if you could show us all of these routes on a map so we can see where you're heading 🙂
Definitely will look into that 🙏🏻
Hi Mark. Love the videos. What does comply mean? Cheers. Ross.
It means follows the rules of the road as directed. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
@@Markstaxidiaries Thanks Mark.

How many hour work was that? I’m thinking of a change of career
In total i worked a 9 hour day

As in comply roundabout or like comply Berkley square because it's one-way hope that helps
Yep! As below follow the rules of the road as instructed basically. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
No right turn into Stratton St from Piccadilly. Naugty boy 😂
20.00 to Victoria coach station
You use the term "Comply" on some of your jobs. Can you explain please?
Follow the rules of the road as directed, thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Just watched Toms latest on heathrow north and south parks.waiting 2-4 hours before he escapes for a job
The 3/4 hours waiting really doesnt make sense to me but clearly it works.

Exactly that! The flag had to be physically felled by the driver to start the meter. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Tut tut tut mark Stratton street is a no right turn from Piccadilly
Didn’t even notice that no right turn sign, been doing that one for ages. I’m sure it wasn’t there when I passed out
