i usually don't like videos like this, but i enjoyed this! i like that you don't force people to draw like this and say that people can have different styles

I know that something *I* consider a mistake can look amazing in the hands of another artist because they found a way to make it work with their style! :)

I like that you included Pokémon at the end, because i’m trying to achieve that artstyle with some things of my own. I want to make those long eyes like Misty and Ash have, but also eyes like Jessie and James have.
Things that i think i have problems with are:
    1. Making the eyes way too big.
It’s actually more like that i don’t know how big or how small i want the eyes to be, or how big they are in the Pokémon artstyle, so i’m still figuring it out.
    2. Making eye highlights and the pupils big.
When it comes to Jessie and James eyes, i have no problem because i draw 1 square in the left corner of the iris. Not really Jessie and James but, my artstyle. When it comes to Misty and Ash eyes, it takes up like half of the eye and the pupils ain’t helping it so there’s barely any space left to color, so i gotta do something about it.
    3. Size of the iris.
I don’t know how big i need to make the iris when it comes to Jessie and James eyes.
    4. Size of the eyes in perspective.
Something i realised, is that when a head is in a 3/4 perspective, the eye only changes in size in the width, and not in the length. The problem is, I’m having problems with making the width the correct size, and as someone who draws heads from a 3/4 almost all the time, i really gotta improve that.
And that’s all! These tips will definitely help me in the future, i was already aware of them except for the second thing i need to improve. I want to be able to draw any expression, so thanks to you i know what i gotta do to make expressions more rich looking (if that’s how you say it?). Great video! :D

I think the eyes can be even bigger than in the Pokemon style and still look good (as in moe styles), but it's difficult to pull off such an exaggerated look without it looking just anatomically wrong. That's something I want to learn too.

Getting better at art was mostly my characters going from looking like children to looking like adults. Which weirdly made them age alongside me lol

for me it’s the opposite ngl😭😭 at least for my sonas
they used to look A LOT older when i was younger, and now that i’m a bit older they look A LOT younger
my other ocs look pretty adult ngl

We are talking about anime here. The eyes are the most detailed part in anime faces, lol. They cant be prominent and outstanding enough, since there is nothing else in the face that stands out. The mouth is just one line, the nose is just 2 tiny lines and same-face syndrome (which is very common in anime) doesn't help with that, either.

Great video! I'm still learning how to draw eyes with the right proportions and also in perspective but now I see that there shouldn't be a major difference between the eye sizes in 3/4 view. Thanks!

5:10 hi hi rina !!! I wanted to comment on the eye shines for promare (it's pronounced pro-may-r btw LOL since u weren't sure)
As someone who does similar eye shines I can safely say that for the big shines at least, I'm pretty sure they were doing shorthand for rim highlighting -- as in the shine that would be the most at the front of the eye, following the curve of the cornea (the clear lens in front of the pupil and iris), so in that specific case the shines would be more symmetrical. I do admit it was a strange choice to have them higher up on the eye, at least in the screenshot of Lio LOL, but it's more clear with Galo. The tiny shinies.... I'm not so sure 😅 I think I just assumed it was a budget saver LMFAO

7:37 About this tip! When making 3/4 or face in perpective, the width of the eye is smaller when further away, unless some VERY intense pov is involved the height of the each eye is the same
