  • Russia is entering its third year of war in Ukraine with an unprecedented amount of cash in government coffers, bolstered by a record $37 billion of crude oil sales to India last year, according to new analysis, which concludes that some of the crude was refined by India and then exported to the United States as oil products worth more than $1 billion. #CNN #News

@@user-zu1cg1fy8tmy foolish sanctions? I am not in that position. I am just observing.
But it was foolish indeed to believe in the friendlyness of a government run by an Ex-KGB man who has proven his corruption and ruthlessness before he became head of state. Even the invasion of 2014 was not deemed warning enough to find alternatives... cheap gas for competitive export oriented economy and the perspective of becoming independent from american dominance was too much of a temptation and defeated sober judgement.
The second invasion was virtually a stab in the back for german long term planning and plotting and left not much choice but to comply to american supremacy... you can actually see how desperate efforts are being made to get out of that dependency - (for example: accelerated transformation to renewables has strategic value... its not just climate... its getting out of the $ based oil market, without depending on russia. It would have been a lot easier with russia as partner... well... either Putin could not hold his pee any longer or he just is not as good in math as almost everybody thought him to be... including myself)

Let me give you a complete picture:
Coal: China has imported 40% of all Russian coal exports since 5 December 2022. They are followed by India (20%) and South Korea (13%).
Crude oil: China is the largest buyer of Russian crude oil, purchasing 45%, followed by India (33%), the EU (7%) and Turkey (5%). Since the EU’s ban on crude oil from Russia on 5 December 2022, the EU’s imports of crude oil have arrived via sea to Bulgaria and via pipeline for the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
LNG: The EU was the largest buyer, purchasing 49% of Russia’s LNG exports, followed by China (22%) and Japan (18%). No sanctions are imposed on Russian LNG shipments to the EU.
LPG: Turkey was the largest buyer, purchasing 55% of Russia’s LPG exports, followed by the EU (34%). The EU 12th sanctions package includes a prohibition on the import of Russian LPG, with a provision for grandfathering existing contracts for a maximum period of 12 months.
Oil products: Turkey, the largest buyer, has purchased 24% of Russia’s oil products, followed by China (12%) and Brazil (10%). While the EU’s sanctions on seaborne Russian oil products were implemented on 5 February 2023, oil via pipeline is only partially sanctioned.
Pipeline gas: The EU was the largest buyer, purchasing 37% of Russia’s pipeline gas, followed by Turkey (34%) and China (24%). No sanctions are imposed on Russian pipeline gas imports into the EU. Why because EU need time to find other sources and are gradually moving away from Russia.
India doesn't have money as much as EU has and wants to get some cheap oil, then its fair and square.
Some of EU members and Turkey are part of NATO while India is not.
Traditionally Russia helped India with weapons when it fought wars with Pakistan. Pakistan was armed by US and EU members. Not saying this is wrong but now asking India to abandon is not fair as well.
While Pakistan sent its terrorists in India, Ukraine was supplying arms, weapons and ammunitions to Pakistan and supported it.
Now supporting Ukraine is one thing but to go against Russia in supporting Ukraine doesn't make sense to India at all. If India would go against Russia now in the time of need, what kind of ally would that make us.
Pakistan attacked and occupied Kashmir while King of Kashmir signed accession with Indian government. Still India sought to resolve. the matter peacefully using UN. But what West did ? Nothing, India still doesn't have access to that part of its country (POK) and even faced cross border terrorism in India.
Note: US did help us against China in 1962 but very late. China still occupies a very big chunk of Indian territory. But US backstabbed us in 1971 and especially Kargil war again when Pakistani army disguised as terrorists, occupied crucial peaks in Indian territories. Its hard for India to trust US completely. I see a shift now but it will take time.

I think all of that may have lead to enough doubt being casted by various members of the US government that they wont back another aid bill. It may well explain zelensky replacing a lot of his top commanders and cheifs lately, in an attempt to dispel those reports.
However, pulling aid from Ukraine only leaves the country more exposed and thus more US assets at risk. I mean the patriot system is still in kyiv and i certainly would think its within US interests to keep those systems out of russian hands. Its not like ukraine will give it back.

One, it brought the price of oil down because it freed up supply from the other oil exporting nations. Two, it provided Europe and others with refined petroleum products, again keeping the price down. Inflation around the world would have skyrocketed, had it not been for India's help. They're serving their own best interest, not US people nor Humanity! The ship sailed longtime ago for GOP, they sold their souls for a traitor, and possibly just a KGB agent. Look at tRump relations with his 1st wife visit to Moscow, it seems the anchors been set longtime ago! When tRump meet Putin, he is like a puppy!

yup, they are too much, using lives to play politics. Blood is in the hands of the GOP

I doubted India‘s potential to become a superpower before, but not any more. They aren’t dump like us in Germany to reject cheap energy and instead go for more expensive choices 😅

If India doesn't buy oil. Global crude would have touched 150-200$ per barrel. The cars in west are running because of India. Thank India.
