Among the myriad of problems that has plagued SF for more than half a century the voters have shown time and time again that they simply refuse to learn from past mistakes. The AAPI community in SF still overwhelming and reliably vote "D" and all the policies that come with it. They only have themselves to blame. Why should anyone feel bad for them? They voted for it.

So, is 38% of the city council AAPI? Are 38% of the city government, police and teachers AAPI? How is it that San Francisco is only 2.8% Black and has had 2 Black Mayors and zero 0⃣ AAPI mayors while Oakland that is about 30% Black has had only a couple of Black mayors and had one AAPI mayor now?

Not every person feel privilege live in 'a' Chinatown. But. My cousins, who live San Francisco Chinatown, know it the best Chinatown in the US. It a pretty awesome place. One of my cousin, a sifu in a martial arts lineage, show me these place, where you can go and be by yourself in big, quiet room, with cool Chinese decoration and practice and a lot of natural light on 2nd and 3rd floor. There a LOT of trust going on there, BUT you gotta be part of community. My younger 2 cousin, who live there. When their dad alive and he say, go park so and so car, my cousins get this look of determination and it done. It take that kinda will power do well there. It not a surprise Chinatown say no to homeless shelter. It a really awesome place. But haven't been there in 17 year.
It's important for every ethnic community to participate politically. It's equally important to let political parties know that they need to earn their votes. Instinctively voting for one party usually works against the interest of the entire community as well as the individual ethnic group. For too long API groups automatically assume that the Democratic Party will have their interest in heart, well, that doesn't pan out. Watch what politicians do, talk is cheap, make sure politicians earn their votes.

If you look at the early days in the founding of this great republic, it is not for people "faint of heart," There was people who stood up to the British and said, "I have but one life to give to my country." The other major party in this country literally used violence to try to overturn our democracy. I know that tends to be swept under the rug but that’s a deal breaker for me. So let’s not pretend there are great alternatives on offer. If the 2 choices are a 20% rise in crime (still 1/3-1/2 the crime rate of the 1980s under our Republican governor by the way) and the destruction of our democracy, I’ll accept the 20% rise in crime as the far FAR lesser of the 2 evils.
