Death came sliding down for three of same family
On June 13 early morning hours, torrential rains and landslides unleashed destruction at various parts of Mangan district including Pakshep village, near Mangan town. Three members of the same family lost their lives in their sleep when their house was washed by the landslides at Pakshep. The deceased were Suk Bahadur Rai, his wife Sancha Maya Rai and their daughter-in-law (21) who was also pregnant.
Only survivor of the family was son Moni Kumar Rai who was at Gangtok for his duties. Landslide broke out in a place never imagined and such tragedy occurred, says Roshan to Swatantra Aawaj.
The landslide had broken out at around 3 am when the family members were in deep sleep.
Locals and panchayat president Elimit Lepcha shares about the relief measures taken for the landslide-affected households.
