This video single handedly made me a conservative due to the sole fact that you dont love bugs life, and im not sure i can align with someone with such beliefs
My favourite in especially "why this movie/ game bad" essays is the part where they just pitch their own fan version and say it would be better, you showcase it here and the Plinkett reviews do it too :D.
I love the twist halfway through the video. You almost convinced me to try watching The Incredibles 2, a movie I could not finish because I feel asleep from boredom.
You got me in the first half. I was wondering why a film I thought was kinda shoddy was being praised. I'ma fight you on Megamind though. It's one of the few shows that can pull me off my phone. (Not sure why I like it though. Just kinda resonated with me.) :b
I remember liking incredibles 2 when i saw it in theaters but not loving it as much as the first for a number of the reasons you said. I totally fell for your "essay" and I HAVE watched your other videos and I just thought to myself "Wow Soypill is being uncharacteristically positive, must really like incredibles 2" I was played like a fiddle..
man i love your videos, when i first clicked this video while going trough your channel i though your were a dude that makes good and interesting videos that likes movies for children but no, you just are a dude that makes good and interestping videos who is also funny
I really liked Incredibles 2 so I'm a certified idiot. But holy crap you have a great point about video essayists just pitching you the movie and expecting me to nod and agree. They just say crap to pad out the time to fit a sponsor and they act like they are super smart and then I feel I have to agree with them out of moral obligation because they try to sound "objective" with their subjective views. But with you, you encourage people to not mindlessly agree and that is something I don't see in the animation review-o-sphere
I knew this video was too positive for you to upload but I wanted to believe I was just watching someone gush over a film they like because it made them happy to do so anyway Anyway, yeah, I basically don't watch movies or movie review stuff on youtube so this was a good video to watch, it offers contextualization to themes of psychology and explores different angles of how being deceived occurs with a lot of really meaningful points and explanations. The video starts placing you in the shoes of one who is being deceived, not maliciously, but by demonstrating how concepts can be described as meaningful by simply saying they are despite never actually meaningfully investigating those concepts. However this literary youtube masterpiece will really catch your attention with a twist you didn't see coming, because when The Soy Pill reveals that this video is not in fact high praise to the film, he explains exactly how he was able to trick you into thinking the film was good by explaining themes of ideas that in themselves would be good to explore, if done well, which you do not find out is not the case by hearing the simplest fact of how the themes exist in the film alone. This video is comprehensive at expressing ideas on quality and perception and I can't keep this bit up, why am I doing this, I'm doing a shit job of it too, but then again don't rely on me to tell you my comment is good or bad. Well anyway thanks for the video soy! Funny as always
When i first watched incredible 2 in the background of doing a puzzle, the first thing I clocked was "wait why are super illegal again? it was pretty clear that blsck spot of history was behind them at the end of the first movie as evidenced by the parr family confidently suiting up to save the day from the underminer. Then by the end I felt incredibly...neutral. It sure is a movie that exists. After seeing it again and learning more about it, it goes from "i guess i'd throw it on," to honestly an insult.
I went to the comments to see what everyone else thought about the unabashed praise, only to be spoiled about the twist. Honestly great job convincing me you genuinely loved incredibles 2! Also, i quite like some of pixars' newer films like Coco or Soul, but the drop in quality is still very tangible.
Ngl im a sheep kind of person, or as you would discribe, a baby. You could convince me my favorite show is dogshit and gaslight me into liking trash and a few years later I will see a video with opposite opinion and flip again.
Il only watch movies in theater's if its only getting praise from everyone and only watch movies and tv shows that are on some top 500 list. Im the biggest sheep.
I've been bingeing your videos and came across this one one and oh man youve put all my feelings about the incredibles into words 😅 its the only movie I can say Ive watched over a dozen times. Love the videos dude!
Damn was in the middle of writing a detailed comment of why your wrong. But you got me in the first half. Nice But will not take the megamind disrespect, that movie is so funny and great. Will farrell just is so amazing as that role and it has funny slapstick comedy and is kinda an anti-superhero movie which I think is interesting and offers lots of funny jokes making fun of classic superhero movies. I think it works. But in the clip that you show it says it is executed well because of the ending where he breaks out of his shell and its a nice emotional moment where you see him develop away from his nurture and that it doesnt define him as a person
I will defend Cars 2: it's a cheesy movie that's dumb fun in a universe where the worldbuilding is already a trainwreck. Also i think the majority of the hate is inspired by Mater being ABSOLUTELY INSUFFRABLE WHICH ISNT A GOOD THING FOR THE MAIN CHARACTER
@@thesoypill1583 Genuine questions, what is your Pixar's top 10? I feel like you heavily underrate Cars, and kinda underrate how successful Pixar has been with more recent films. Their overall quality has dipped for sure, going from like 5 consecutive bangers to 1-2 every few years, but films like Soul, Coco and Inside Out are absolutely great.
I was totally going to suggest that you watch the red letter media reviews of the Star Wars prequels if you hadn't already because they are masterpieces. I learned so much from watching that series and I watch it every couple of years just to keep it fresh. And then you took the wind right out of my sails by referencing them. You monster! How dare you watch them long before I even have a chance to recommend them!
Actually when I said I was lying the entire time I meant I was lying after I started talking about the incredibles 2. I still think bugs life isn't as good as the other pixar classics. You're allowed to like it though it has its moments.

I like megamind a good amount, I just think that vid essay takes it a bit far calling it masterpiece. It's no Incredibles 1
@@thesoypill1583 That is 100% fair, masterpiece is a stretch.
I went into it thinking it was bait, then the bait kept going... and going... and I slowly thought you were genuine.
Bait is still belivable.
