this is hands down one of my favorite meryl interviews. stanley, meryl and nora all have such great chemistry together - not to mention theyre freaking hilarious.
It's wonderful when you can glimpse into the minds of great minds and feel like you connect. and make one want to discover how high you can go into your own creative Road. in which in my case would be in the to write an engaging dialogue for a play
I think it very sad that this movie did not get the oscar. I suppose it has joined the select group of those that become a cult like Bronx Tale, Heat and Leon.
I have seen it MANY TIMES with the same attraction to the Fabulous passion created by these talented actors. Meryl Streep is Unique as we all know 💯 I have to say....I FELL MADLY IN LOVE with STANLEY in his role‼️‼️‼️💗 He is also Unique. I will enjoy this movie again and, again. Great interview!!!
31:17 Meryl: "I am a pain in the butt because I have so many opinions about everything." Nora: "You aren't though." Meryl: "But I do have a lot of opinions" Nora: "But in a good way, don't you think?" Meryl" "OF COURSE I THINK!" Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. She's hilarious!!!
1:00:39 Loved her cartoonish impression of spy movies 😂 Meryl’s most revered work has always been dramas but she really really shines in comedy as well
Meryl Streep:And she walked across the room and said to me I love you...And I peed a little bit lol lol I looove her and this interview.Meryl i love and adore you you are amazing!:)
The audience clearly didn't listen to the Q & A instructions. They were told to only ask a brief question not to get up to the microphone and give a soliloquy or ramble on with a personal backstory and yet many of them did just that.
Meryl is such a brilliant, accomplished and renowned actor, it's so refreshing to see her "let her hair down," as it were. But what's up with all that tossing, smoothing and fiddling with said hair? Isn't that supposed to be a sign of insecurity or flirting? Or, maybe, after "Doubt," she's simply reassuring herself that it's still there.
Well there's that bit when she says she starts imitating other people a lot, e.g. English people whenever she arrives at London airport. Maybe when off the film set, she sort of goes into sponge mode (she used that word) because left on her own she has no particular personality to lock into, being an open, flowing and versatile person. I get a bit of that too as a musician, I "become" someone depending on who I'm playing with. On my own I start to melt a bit and get quietly fuzzy. Don't know if this makes any sense, but I do relate to her - not insecure or flirting - but, more like, um... floating...
No idea who she is, but she reminds me of a SNL skit making fun of bad interviewers. Mumbling, no diction, not really present - just reading from a card... 😎
This interviewer seems rather affected and cold, she should be so lucky to have the chance to interview these 3 emblematic people, Meryl does not seem comfortable, like a Stradivarius who needs warmth and sense of humor to express herself fully as usual, fortunately her friend Stanley makes her feel more at ease. the interviewer is rude when she asks Norah and Stanley to explain how they reinvented themselves over the course of their careers, leaving out Meryl who reinvents herself in every movie.
I agree with you and I’m really late in watching this interview like 11 years late! But I do remember the movie and I did watch it and I do follow Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci. I feel like she was very uncomfortable and this interview actually just dragged on and I felt that Meryl felt the same way about it. I’ve watched her in other interviews and I don’t think the interviewing forum is her favorite place to be! Just my opinion.
What is wrong with the interviewer! She just sounds so bored and impatient, does she even register that she's interviewing three of the most interesting people in the film industry?!
I’ve listening to and watching NE online for about a week now. I’m sorry to say but can’t resist saying something unflattering about her bangs. They cover eyes like a sheepdog. What made her think that was a good look? I know it was considered fashionable or anyway cool for a time but I thought adult women were supposed to have grown out of it.
Meryl is always talking jolly mood and nora ephron i don't know who is she? but she is jealous to Meryl Streep .its very funny.meryl is a good and talented' gorgeous'fabulous'more extraordinary actress in Hollywood .
Nora is widely acknowledged and respected as a genius writer (and sometimes director) and is well worth learning about. Look for more videos of her on youtube. She can be very, very witty and funny, rather like Dorothy Parker.
Please, will someone tell Meryl Streep to stop fooling around with her hair? She was a nervous wreck apparently but isn't an actress suppose to have some self-control.
I agree. It's very, very distracting. If you ever look at actresses from previous eras, say from the 40s or 50s, they never touch their face or hair. Ever. They have very good manners.
I saw Streep and clicked and I see there is Nora!! Aww! Love Nora's work! I sure miss her! RIP
One of my favorite movies. Miss Nora Ephron a lot.

Great interview!!!
Enjoying this. Thank you! ⚘
Poor Stanley. His wife had died only 3 months before this interview was filmed.
Lovely conversation. Nora and Meryl seem to remember some things quite differently 😂
The level of insight into human nature and our own nature, to prepare to play a character is immense. Well done.
If I could, I would "like" this interview a million times, I just love it so much, Meryl's so cute and funny, like always!

Meryl Streep has done so many fantastic roles but I have to say that my favorite role is Julia Child‘s.
thank you very much, it's amazing you uploaded the entire interview! Awesome!
Such wonderful artists :)
I remember reading about a chef from one side of America, but she’s actually from the other side of America! Who knew!
OMG thank you thank you sooooo MUCH!! Been looking for this for ages! Thank you!
Meryl Streep is one of the funniest people i've seen in this world. She is so cute🥰

omg when Meryl talked about Don kissing Michelle hahaha so cute
Who is Michelle?
Gorio Rhea michelle obama
Hannah ferguson aha ok now i know..
Thank you☺
I love all that talent on one stage❤️
I know Julie and Julia is about both... but I would much rather have seen just the Julia portions. Streep and Tucci were wonderful together. 😎

How I miss Nora Ephron.
i love Meryl Streep

SavedandSound she's spoken often about how nervous she gets in interviews and how insecure she is so it probably is just a bit of nervous habit. ❤️

Brilliant!! Hilarious!!
favourite Meryl Movie: Death Becomes Her!
Yeah😊👍❤️
It’s only when you think you’re a celebrity that you stop growing as an artist, these people are artists
Silk Wood was so impessive to me in the matter of Strength in Character.
The evil of Greed
It is in my tops of BEST MOVIES EVER 👏👏👏👏👏🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
my favourite chat with these guys...'reporter' draining to listen to
Anyone knows what's the story they talking about at 46:40 ?
When she went to the white house
47:11 what happened the first time in the WH? Is it about her husband? Or who is she talking about when she says “He’ll kill me!”
her husband
Who’s the commentator?
正!
Anyone know what year this was shot?
From Allah we come to Yahweh we return Nora. You’ve got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle, are also gold.
RIP Nora.
Lovely women...!
Could the reporter from TNYT be more affected?
Um, no. No she couldn't.
+João Soares Yes, she really is a pill.
João Soares =
Don't know who she is, but her terse demeanor borders on being mean-spirited

Meryl is high on something during this interview.
was this interviewer in some movie or TV serial?
31:01

Could the interviewer drag out the way she speaks words any longer....sooooo howwww diddddd yooooooo preeee parrrre.....
Unfortunate that this video is entirely out of focus.
someone knows the story meryl did not want to tell? :-D
Andrea Papežová Yeah I would love to know that
I adore Nora’s movies! I did enjoy Meryl Streep in this role BUT I Do not like Meryl.. I don’t know why 🤷♀️
i think thats her style
What is wrong with the interviewer! She just sounds so bored and impatient, does she even register that she's interviewing three of the most interesting people in the film industry?!
That hotel is $2k a night. Doubt many in these comments will be staying there.

No. They’re actors, not public speakers. She only fidgets with her hair when she talks about herself
will be sure to tell her

Speak up stop mumbling!
