I think Mondstadt guards should be given a small pass, since 2/3rd of the guards are doing the Northern Expedition with the (actual) Grand Master. Making Acting Grand Master Jean having a severve manpower shortage as mentioned in vid

True, the Melusine guards are also capable of patrolling underwater which makes them a massive help in Fontaine.

I think lumine should be a health inspector, seeing the various restaurants of teyvat and how well they follow the health standards and of course how delicious the food there.
Maybe the guards are not at their top shape because the restaurants in teyvat gives them a bad stomach ache.
Frankly, I don't know how any restaurant manages to stay in business in Teyvat. They mostly seem to sell their own recipes and raw ingredients.

Well, restaurants are there for when you don't want the hassle of cooking your own food, so the restaurant shouldn't be affected too much by selling recipes and ingredients. There are actually some restaurants in real life that sell cookbooks, and there are also real life restaurant-delis, restaurants inside supermarkets, and market stalls that sell both raw ingredients and prepared food. Most restaurants in Teyvat are street food places that only sell a few dishes (even if they canonically serve more). Selling ingredients and recipes diversifies their business.

Little you know, but Varka is SO based and buffed that he alone requires several horses and they wearing out very fast
Makes sense actually. IRL knights would not traverse with their battle mounts in fear of wearing them down, which is why they travel with a dozen or so spare horses while marching.
I guess that in Sumeru, Forest Rangers would also count as guards of sort? They're making sure people in the forest are safe

The reason mondstadt has so little knights/ guards are because Varka, the real head knight, took 80% of them on a expedition.
Mondstadt has a ton of knights/guards in the city compared to the population though. They could spread some of them out on trade routes.
@@Commietaku mondstadt only really has 2 trade routes, and one of them is right at the city. I think Diluc also vetos any guards from being stationed near his territory which makes it harder.
Should review architecture next, can think of a few spots in the cities that need handrails. I’d definitely fall over the edge as an NPC

Hey it's Beerevity, that channel that posts the randomest things, but is also where i learn a lot from the game i've been playing for almost 4 years.
Ngl I don't play even play this game, but your videos showed up in my recommended somehow, and they're too interesting to not subscribe for.
Never mind that; I downloaded the game. It's pretty fun.
The funny thing about Mondstadt especially is that most of the guards are canonically lazy, many of them overly rely on Jean, and one of the guys in the HQ isn't actually good because Klee regularly escapes. Also YEAH freaking Godwin having us lie to his gf on his behalf. Fun fact I'll never forget, during Weinlesefest, the letter from Varka said that everyone was accounted for.... yet that very expedition is the one Godwin was a part of. I often remember this randomly and wonder if hyv simply forgot they made Godwin part of it, leading to an oversight, or if Varka realized quickly that Godwin immediately got distracted and just left him (not like he's useful anyway!).
I feel like there's also an argument in there for how they didn't leave ANY horses so trade likely is harder, and agree about Springvale. They should have guards posted along the path to Dawn Winery too, but considering Diluc's alias and his dislike of the knights, he wouldn't want them guarding his actual home. That said, it is also treated as a venue according to some dialogues.... so presumably knights would be guarding it during those times at least?
What if its revealed that Godwin got denied going on the expedition but he didn't get the letter 💀
also I imagine Diluc has his own security detail for the winery proper

Now for Watatsumi Island, the traveler is the Captain of the Swordfish II,so it's kinda funny to see them doing their job for at least once after the war

The guards actually do stop you if you're trying to enter the chasm! There actually is a cutscene dedicated to it. Tho, they quickly dismiss us due to us being commissioned to be there.

The Chasm guards stop you at first when trying to enter, but Tie Hong recognizes you as the hero of Liyue and gives his word, as he was saved by you while he was guarding the Jade Chamber
You have neglected the best guards, the Melusine! those in the marechausse phantom are a part of the Fontaine security detail. They also do their best work and are always helpful.

One remark about Inazuma's guards, during the point in the Archon Quest where you're supposed to be getting training from Yae Miko, if the guards in the main city spot the Traveler, they realize who you are and attempt to capture you. The screen fades to black and the Traveler respawns elsewhere. So... yeah. Good at their job.

funny thing is I would bet money that heizou is that guard. he hates patrolling and always slacks off to do his own thing. (in his defence, his “own thing” is his detective stuff and he’s good at it. it’s the only reason sara hasn’t fired him)
Speaking of guards, there's a fun fact why the Eremites cover their eyes, well, actually two, one is to protect their vision against the heavy storms in the desert, and second is to signify that they are special case of escorts.

Have you done an occupational health & safety review of locations in Teyvat? (especially workplaces, obviously). I mean, there are *so* many places with improper railings, no signage, poor lighting, massive falling hazards... the Khaenri'ah locations have literally molten metal that's just pouring out of some places, elevators have poor safety features, literally none of the ships have life jackets, there are loads of kids just wandering around (have you ever seen a kid in school or under *any* kind of adult supervision?)...
I will always love watching these. I hope you can make one with LAND SCAPES as the music sometime

Heizou is in dire need of inspection as a guard as well! His official rank is a Doushin, but in his own words, he leaves the work of patrolling and apprehending criminals to "the more qualified individuals," which is clearly a clever excuse to shirk his duties and do his own thing. During the war, he was sent to spy in enemy territory and confidently admitted that he treated the trip as a paid vacation. Not to mention, he occasionally disappears completely with no explanation - something that happens often enough for Kujou Sara to "always" be on his case about it, as she is well aware of his antics. He only avoids criticism for his constant disregard for the rules because of his prowess as a detective!
He refuses to accept a promotion and Kujou Sara says that the only reason she hasn't brought him into line yet is because "his investigations deliver results." Perhaps the general herself said it best when she called him a 'headache!'

Mondstadt has too little guards remaining after most of them went on the expedition, but more importantly 2/3 of their government body are also in that expedition and Jean has very little backbone to scold the other knights and instead he takes the jobs that they should do
Inazuma has a lot less guards/soldier after the civil war and of the 3 commissions, we have see that only the yashiro commission is united under 1 clan, and in the other 2 there is still fights between the clans.
Sumeru relies too much on mercenary work, they do have a secret police but only to punish wrongdoers from the akademiya and the only other defense are the forest watchers
Fontaine relies too much on their meks, the majority of which went berserk after the institute incident, they also basically have more than 1 crime syndicate operating in the main city with no problems and they are also the city where the treasure hoarders have their base
liyue ì has a solid government body and they have seem to be able to keep the major trade routes and the city safe with no problems

Hertha is a captain, and the head of the logistics department. There are only a few captains still in Monstadt, so she is probably overwhelmed with paperwork and not reasonably capable of performing secondary guard duties. She's the coordinator for Requests and Bounties in the region, which means that she (1) is listening to citizen complaints and offering incentives to local adventurers to address them, and (2) is trying to keep the countryside safe from threats brought to her attention through the issuance of reasonable compensation. This all demonstrates both initiative and a willingness to delegate responsibilities to Monstadt's significant Adventurer's Guild presence through proper financial motivation, and as a captain she presumably has the authority to spend mora on this without running afoul of Jean.
So I'm saying she should be cut some slack here.
EDIT: Also Dawn Winery is private property. Mr. Ragvindir's decision not to have guards on his property may reflect poorly on his concern for the safety of his field workers and maids, but it should not be counted against the Knights of Favonius.
Diluc definitely hires private security or something lol, maybe even trains his own staff to fight for free
