❤ sorrel love this recipe. I live in Spain and when I buy "flor de Jamaica" and make it for my friends they just can't get enough!!! Have a blessed Christmas
I would think Sorrel is the entire Caribbean national Christmas drink 😁 Also, in Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹 we also make Ponche de Crem and Ginger Beer during our Christmas Festivities. But yes, Sorrel is our country’s number 1!
Sorrel is believed to have come from West Africa to the Americas including Jamaica during the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. I do not know how it is prepared in other countries but what is certain is that the way Jamaicans prepare it keeps you wanting more.
We drink eggnog traditionally, I made Puerto Rican Coquito today for the first time. Tomorrow I will set a batch of Sorrel. Make this an international beverage season!! Where is rum punch from? Is that Jamaican too?
@@franklyspeaking8184To say "everything" is not accurate. Jerk chicken for one does not. Neither does tomatoes, corn, peppers, cocoa, coconut, pineapples, rice, and much more.
Sorrel is Jamaican and Caribbean not Nigerian. Jamaican government gave sorrel to Mexico in a cultural exchange. Caribbean cuisine and alcoholic cocktails and rums are world famous. Nigerians are not at Caribbean people level when it comes to cuisine , alcoholic cocktails, rums, music and entertainment, luxury hotel resorts, casino, track and field, beaches and water falls, tourism, cricket, netball, marijuana and coffee production, and many more areas. Nigerians are my brothers and sister but I have to let them know that we Caribbean people do a lot of things way better than you guys. It’s not even close. So Nigerians should acknowledge their Caribbean brothers and sisters greatness instead of trying to think they are the best at everything because you guys are not.
No need to fight, it’s all love. One Africa, one Jamaica. Ackee came from Africa and it’s also our national dish in Jamaica and sorrel is no exception. One love Africa🙌🏾
I'm from Trinidad 🇹🇹 and thats our Christmas drink as well

Chef Adrian, in your cookbook, you used bay leaves and star anise. Is the star anise a substitute for the cloves? Is the bay leaf optional?
Which recipe are you referring to?

It's even been called jamaican flowers in some spanish countries.

Maybe he did but not on camera, just saying. I always blend my the petals, it gives the drink a stronger taste
Very rich but Adrian I thought sorrel was different from the hibiscus
Hibiscus is the flower we use to make sorrel. There is a plant called sorrel as well but it’s used more so as a herb and tastes of lemon
From the same hibiscus family
Hey Chef Adrian 🤗 What a beautiful color 😍 Question…can this be drank hot?
Yes
Yes it will be giving mulled wine nice as tea too
It's not a Nigerian drink. It's from the west indies
Ignorace is not bless. Everything comes from Africa, do your research😮
