The local Network Rail Level Crossing manager said in 2020 "The new barriers will improve the reliability of two level crossings in Staffordshire and therefore, help reduce delays on the railway". Don't know how that works. New barriers don't normally reduce railway delays. In fact, as you can see from the video filmed at a busy time, there is a strong case for upgrading this to a half barrier crossing to help reduce delays on the roads. LC managers should propose changes like that which save money. 30 seconds of the wait here was cut. The view along the line shows a semaphore signal protecting the crossing. Fewer than 200 people a day use Uttoxeter station.
