  • When you’re a Navy Reconnaissance Corpsman, you’re much more than a medic. Your platoon will need you to act as a professional medical provider and professional gun fighter-often at the same time. Deploy with any Special Operations unit that the Navy or Marines have to offer. When you’re out in the field, you’re the Doc and your team is counting on you to keep them safe. Your training will provide you with extensive medical knowledge as well as give you the mental fortitude to think tactically under fire. Because when you’re part of an elite combat unit, the pressure is always on. Visit bit.ly/2ToJWs4 to learn more.

      Gavin VanBoxel interesting. Thank you for your answer. I would think they would have to do it (whether they want to or not) since Recon Marines that decide to go MARSOC must do A&S and ITC first. Do you know why SARCs only do BRC and follow on schools by any chance?

      @@cm-pr2ys Their has actually been a lot of talk about sending Corpsman through ITC and SOCM as another route to produce more SARCs, it is an often favored idea. The issue comes from big Navy being quite reluctant to change, and doesn't see a need to change the way they make SARCs. From what I know, MARSOC has a higher staffing goal than Recon, as well, which inevitably means more SARCs will be sent that way. I, personally, would like to see SARCs being attached to MARSOC attending ITC, while also allowing them to wear the Raider breast insignia.

They both probably have the same level of medical expertise but a PJ has more extensive training outside of the combat and medical training. An example is PJs are trained to go rescue a hiker who broke their leg at the top of a mountain. Cameron is correct. In simple terms, a SARC would be on the ground with a team as both gunfighter and medic then medivac to PJs to higher echelon care. PJs can differ based on their teams as well. Rescue squadrons focus on personnel recovery. Special Tactics Squadrons utilize them more like SARCs. Air Force Special Warfare is going through a great deal of changes right now to become more independent from general SOCOM augmentation and have standalone teams more closely resembling their STSs.

Like bro Right now I have the job I’ve wanted which was GM & I’m waiting to be shipped out (august 11th) but my recruiter told me about this job and says you can use guns and you can have experience in the medical field. The top 3 jobs I was looking at before MEPS were GM, HM AND QM. but I’ve also wanted a job that will help me in the long run

    • @christianrice4168
      @christianrice4168 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Emilio Mason I think HM will be better for you after the Navy. You’ll have a lot of medical knowledge, especially as a SARC. GM works on mechanical and shoots guns, not as many career wise options there. I know that I’ll be trying for HM-ATF SARC next time I go to MEPS.

      SARC/SOIDC is typically greenside, but not all greenside personnel are SARC/SOIDC. Greenside is any Navy personnel assigned to a Marine Corps unit- typically chaps and HMs. SARC/SOIDC is more specific to Recon units and Marine Raiders.

    For anyone curious about a possible career as a SARC you must enlist or receive commission in the Navy to become a regular corpsman and all that entails. Once youve proved yourself in that arena, if there is availability you can go out for selection in the form of BRC (Marines Basic Recon Course) which most will not make it through for obvious reasons. That will be followed with getting youre wings (airborne school), combat dive, an extremely lengthy 18D course (special forces medic) which I think is about 6 months but dont quote me. There is probably some type of special operations specific qualification as well that I have not listed like CQB training, tactics, etc. From my research, if you can make it through selection and prove you are worth the training, the sky is the limit when it comes to almost any branch of the military.
