  • Dr. Michael Shy is a professor of neurology, pediatrics and neuroscience in the Department of Neurology at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He’s been a leading researcher of CMT issues since 1990 and a member of the CMTA Scientific Advisory Board since 2001. He became its chairman in 2007. Prior to joining the University of Iowa, Dr. Shy was a professor of neurology at the School of Medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where he headed up an inherited neuropathies consortium, a $6.25 million program focused on the science of inherited neuropathies.
