I can't believe all the negative comments. I think this is a great DIY answer to this problem. I have a spot with limited access, no commercial material delivery would attempt. Also i live in a place where the price of delivery is now unbelievably high. I appreciate your efforts for this posting. I will try this, and make adjustments where needed. Very good and clever solution to this problem.
Best way l have ever seen to haul and dump a HALF Of a TON of gravel. Have a "new-improved" model built in 2002 that could haul THREE WHOLE TONS on a One-ton pickup truck & could keep a cap on the truck at the SAME TIME !
Great idea! Have you added any more height to the sides of the dump? My reason is that in my area they use a front-end loader to put gravel in the bed. Taller sides would allow the gravel and other things, to not get jammed between truck box sides and slider. Great video. Keep on with the great suggestions and videos.
One problem I see is that you get a trail of product instead of a pile. After you do the backup and dump, untie the restraint rope, and then pull forward just a little bit (don't let the sled fall off), then backup. This will start moving the sled towards vertical and thus making a pile instead of a trail.
The problem with his box is, where I live, the rock is loaded in my truck with a front end loader. The rocks would not all land in the wooden box. The rocks would go under the box, hinder the rollers and gouge the truck bed. I guess I could modify it to have ramped sides to cover more area.
R u serious such a beefy Diesel n ur going to Mikey mouse the rest not to mention the low sides of the wood from gravel will surely fall out causing it to jam up nah u be can do better than that .even u Kno it doesn't go w ur trk
Some people has got the best ideas on how to do something right, it's the ones telling the that posted the video or the critic telling that it's not right. But what the heck they never make a video showing how their pro arse would do it
@@jeremymarshall7034 Apparently you have never watched a truck being loaded by a tractor. The gravel doesn't just go where you want it to, it spills everywhere, and would jamb up any "sled" you would try to pull out.
It's all about stopping his expensive manly truck from getting a scratch. He should have just had someone to dump it and keep using his truck for groceries.
Nice..but not original. This project was featured in Mother Earth News back in the late 70's. Good application for a beater pick-up, but not one as featured in the video.
That is the worst thing I have ever seen. Remove tailgate? What happens when a pebble gets underneath the box and jams the roller(s). About one of the worst ideas I have ever seen.
You obviously don't buy much material.... by the bag is SO much more expensive! Buying in bulk is always the way to go IF you have a way of getting it to the place you wanna to use it. I laugh at some of my clients who buy bark or rock by the bag.... it is just so much more expensive than going down to the local bulk supplier.
So one would have to wonder why is it impossible to realize the removal of the tailgate and the addition of flashing to assist the superficial appearance of the truck. While completely negating the safety hazard and damage you're doing your suspension et al. It's no wonder no one considered driving a dig bar or several concrete stakes attaching a chain and driving away slowly until the bed has been pulled clear and dumped? Moreover I am curious why you would not remove the tailgate of the dump box before you back up like that truck didn't cost nearly $100,000?
Bro you need to buy yourself punctuation. Authority can suck it with safety. Oh just like your comment on this video. Mine is also a little late, but no he didn't spend 100k in 2009 on that truck. All that being said he is your dad
Wow that is the cheapest, easiest way I have seen yet. Oh, the dump truck was invented for rich people who can't operate a screwdriver to save their life. That is why they usually hire others to operate it.

That worked when I delivered my friends fridge to his new house, let me just say we ain't friends anymore.....

1:50 i honestly was not ready for that...!this was a funny video

Great video. Keep on with the great suggestions and videos.
harbor freight unloader $40. i make topsoil delivers with it, charge $50 ton. unload into a nice neat pile in 5 minutes..
I use mine for firewood
looks like a good way to break something. but affective. if you were to get any stone under it when loading you would probably be shoveling it out
You can back up about 6 feet or so to tip over.
What's with the feed being a waterfall?
tell me my friend - small or average truck - how much mulch or dirt could I deliver and just dump for customer - keep it simple - - - -
Some thing have to work great job

Marvin Carvin
But he wants it to trail
That MAY or MAY NOT be a problem! I can't think of any application where a PILE would be better.. usually gravel is SPREAD..
not great for piles but f your graveling a driveway perfect.
Pile =shoveling and then grading. Trail = grading only.
Holy !!!!! I can think of a lot ways to,,, never mind.............

Great idea... Super dupper best idea
Maybe if it had an open bottom just the 4 studs and as u pull it back it start dropping gravel voila no getting dirty
Any upgrades to this?
Used only ones ;)
Harbor freight Ben unloader $40
New tail gate every 6 months?
big nope.

He just showed you that it works ya dumb son of a Bitch.

Forgot to open the wood tailgate first
Genius
Couldn't you put higher sides and make it bigger!
What in the jerry rig shit is this?
That was funny
Have never seen a truck loaded at a gravel pit that way. Most load with a bucket loader, making this useless...
How is it use less?... The gravel still goes in the back either way
@@jeremymarshall7034 Apparently you have never watched a truck being loaded by a tractor. The gravel doesn't just go where you want it to, it spills everywhere, and would jamb up any "sled" you would try to pull out.
I'm watching it happen now. A simple funnel box on top would keep that from happening.
It's all about stopping his expensive manly truck from getting a scratch. He should have just had someone to dump it and keep using his truck for groceries.
Geez. The $100 it took to make and $1000 to fix the bumper probably more expensive than getting a load delivered...
Sliding dump bed makes ripping your tailgate off and FUCKING your $60000 truck up easy and fast. Old truck? Probably works great

Goodbye bedliner
rough!
10,000 more loads, then driveway is done!
horrible idea. What a pain to take the tail gate off.
I can't tell if this is real or satire.
And it only took 10 hours to build and set up, as opposed to 20 minutes of shoveling!
Daft as a brush, surely you can buy by the bag

Darn , I still need a shovel, uuuugh !!

Its cute, its funky & it works. lol
That's cute lol
Removing the tail gate....are you kidding me. Thats like 2 hours work. I rather 25 minutes with a shovel....
On a Ford you just take the cables off and it slides out, 4 seconds
Yeah that'll last! Lol
omg that is horrible
Ur right I agree with u
Hahaha!!!
ha, ha, ha, ha, ha....... do it right.
Wow that is the cheapest, easiest way I have seen yet. Oh, the dump truck was invented for rich people who can't operate a screwdriver to save their life. That is why they usually hire others to operate it.
lol! very true
Not impressed !!
WHAHAHAHAT?!
