    Yep, that's my favorite thing to see on TH-cam, too! Breaking out of the clouds. You got some great shots there! Loved the wing cam. I love watching the clouds whip over the wings, too - gives me a better sense of the speed. It's pretty awesome to watch in Greg's Premier 1, too! That thing rips!
    I can't even imagine the acceleration of an F-16. When I was living in Phoenix, I happened to ride my motorcycle right by Luke AFB. Even at 60MPH I could hear the deafening roar of several F-14 Tomcats at full afterburner. I pulled over to watch. What a ride those guys had! Full afterburner both engines, rotate well over triple-digits, positive rate, then FULL vertical!! Within seconds they were so high I could only see them by the glow of the afterburners! Once they cut power, I lost sight. There were several of them doing cycles of this. They'd come in to land, and repeat the cycle again.That was great to watch - I had never seen anything like it in my life at that point in time.
    Glad to see you're still posting - that tells me you guys are all good out there. Stay safe you guys. Thanks for the vid, Kevin! 👍🍻

      Glad you enjoyed the shots there Smitty! Every fighter that departs...especially with full afterburner...I try to watch them. I've seen hundreds if not thousands of them (in the Air Force) but still love watching. :)

    Hey Kev, I just identified why your 310 videos are so much more enjoyable than just about any other flight video. I watched this video, then one of yours came up behind it (already at altitude on the way to Key West) and I immediately realized what had been bothering me in the 340 shots. That massive center post dividing the 340 windscreen really blocks out an amazing amount of the view! On final the camera in the center can't even see the runway until you almost reach the threshold (of course that means the approach is dead on, so there is a silver lining). The view from the 310 interior camera is one of the reasons why watching your videos is such a pleasure! Wow what a view - but you don't really fully appreciate it until it isn't there... kind of like the airplane itself I guess.

    The synchrophaser sets the relationship between one props blades and the other, giving you the ability to change the “tone” heard. When one props blades are at 10/2/6 o’clock the other could be at 12/4/8 o’clock. That can be adjusted with the phase knob. I’ve generally found that when it’s louder in the front it’ll be quieter in the back. Changing the phase so that it’s quieter in the back generally means more noise up front.

    Interesting video, (unusual). Have a question 4 U... Why is taking so long to get your 310 back??? I understand is into a shop for a "paint job"... How long does it take to paint a small airplane??? Thanks !!! 😎👍

    • @310Pilot
      @310Pilot  4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Doing a full strip, repair as necessary, corrosion protection, replace my augmenters, install new vortex generators, and lay out and paint a fully custom design, takes serious man hours and time. Additionally, I dropped the plane off early (before my appointment) because of my schedule. It then ran across the major holidays which slows things down a little. Lastly, I hit COVID-19 and the issues that caused for the shop. I'm not sure if you follow 310_pilot on instagram or not but I've been posting daily updates. She is almost done. Last color gets painted on Monday I think and then they are putting her back together and completing the annual inspection and then I will pick her up. Love these aircraft the cockpits are so user friendly. Feel like a proper airline pilot flying these. But don't try a touch and go from full flap on a short runway! 1000m being a long runway UK. We always held brakes on runway to 2000 rpm before takeoff, especially short runways. I have now seen quite a few twin videos where this is not done. Looking at the mixture controls, good job fuel is cheap in the US.

      The YD was on. It's one of the 3 lights on the STEC3100. The ball seemed to stay centered. The slight wallowing was from the turbulence. The GoPro camera has a build in stabilization feature that also tries to dampen the movement if it looked slightly weird.

      They are really neat planes that can scoot along in the flight levels with pressurized comfort. We all have different upgrade paths (based on wants and needs). John has already replaced both engines (RAM) firewall forward, both props, upgraded to the STEC3100, etc. I've been very fortunate to be able to upgrade the rest of my plane without having to do both engines yet (knock on wood). I am hearing there may be some new cool (glass) announcements at OSH AirVenture this year. Looking forward to that ...if it happens.

      @@chancesears6799 makes sense thanks. is the front wheel braked?

    • @4-7th_CAV
      @4-7th_CAV 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with "tapping the brakes" meaning to stop the wheels from spinning, but it isn't so they "don't wear on the plane". The reason I was taught is because on retractable gear that you tap the breaks so that when they are retracted they won't sling water and slush on the inside of the wheel well, thereby helping to prevent the gear from getting frozen in the retracted position when the plane climbs up into the colder temperatures. Tapping the brakes on fixed gear that have wheel fairings (wheel pants) is also a good idea, especially when taking off from snow / slush covered runways.
