@@lunarsabbatical7906 seriously? It’s easy to talk shit but very few including you can do what those top guys did. They are amazing runners and gave it their all to try to win the championship. Excellent race and tactics by the winner.
@@lunarsabbatical7906 unless timothy cheruiyot or jakob ingebrigtsen decide to push the pace, most world 1500m finals have gone out like that though. Remember the Olympic final in 2016? Centrowitz came through 400m in 66, 800m in 2:16 (70 second lap!) and then it finally started cooking during the next lap, and he hit 3:12 with 300m to go. World finals were notoriously “sit and kick” for many years and still are most of the time.
My favorite Colin should have taken it fast from the beginning to make it a super fast time, increase chances of winning and not let the kickers be at the end within reach...Colin had the fastest time.
100% agree. 57 seconds per lap pace = 3:33.75, and he’s the only college runner that can do that. Running 62.5 each for the first two laps opened the door for everyone’s kick. Only 1.5 seconds separated first place from 10th place = EVERYONE was kicking the last 200.
I absolutely hate these always slow championship tactical races. Agreed that Sahlman should have taken it out and run everyone out of it. I mean, he ran 3:32 in the rain.
@@nes2009 i love the tactical races it is what championship racing is all about, there is a place for the time trials with pacers and wave-light technology, but on any given day you are not always be going to be able to replicate your fastest time, this is racing , mind as well as physical, great stuff. If you just take times as a predictor then no need to race, imo
@@wiggles3238I get the nuances of racing and I’m not a Sahlman “fanboy.” Numerous competitors could have won this, but an honest pace I’m sure is favored to just about everyone watching. Maybe except for you and jen. I don’t think Jakob or even the 17 year old cam Myers would dog a race like that
Colin and Nico need to adopt Jakob Ingebrigsten’s way of thinking, even though it involves more pain. If your VO2 Max is better than everyone else, run the whole race at record breaking pace. It will run the “kick” out of everyone else. They aren’t going to out-kick you if they are 15 meters behind and gasping for breath with 150 to go. If Colin had run the first and second laps at 57 each, instead of 62.5 he wouldn’t have been out-kicked the last 20 meters.

Just gonna throw it out there that it looks like Colin Sahlman is not wearing a super spike. Not that it means a lot, but given the little bit of performance gain from them, it could have maybe helped a little with that form breakdown from him in the final 50m. Just speculation of course, but a thought to consider as a runner who noticed a difference after switching to super spikes.
