Man that was one helluva chonky enemy team comp. Well-supported with Rehgar heals and Zarya shields too...that was Deathball: The Comp...no wonder they just steamrolled until Pally's team finally caught their second wind and managed to win some lategame team fights. I really feel like a more artillery-focused build would have been generally more useful here on Jaina...Ring of Frost with a pumped-up W build might have secured more AoE on the clumped up enemy team, but honestly I've not played HotS in so long and I was never all that amazing in the first place...I'm not really the one to give advice. Pally played his heart out though lol. Props for sticking with it and giving it your all, man...that game looked exhausting lol.
I agree. Thinking that Ring of Frost would have been the better pick vs this team. With bloodlust a Reghar, and all their clumping, you lock them down, they lose value, and you give yourself another escape if you need it.
Never been a fan of the E root talent, it can be useful for staying alive but the E armour reduction talent is essentially a 25% burst damage boost for your whole team.
Yeah but it can also help A LOT as u saw. If u have a team that peel for u in the backline then sure go for it. Also kinda need an auto attacker for lower armour to be good

Dear Pally, everything i've learned about this game comes from you, so thank you :-) Finally i can give something back (40 ranked matches 65% winrate with her): You did good, but as i know you, you always want to improve your chars. so here are my thoughts to improve with Jaina: 1. The Ice elemental does AOE RANGE dmg! please: NEVER put it directly into the whole enemy team. First place it and then choose target from a save distance. The enemy killed yours on the spot, very often (19:38, 21:21) . :-) The best option i would guess is, you put it out to make a triangle (with you and your target). So the enemy has to choose between you and the elemental to make dmg to. Block exit-ways if possible. 2. In the earlygame focus on your quests. The lvl 1 talent needs to get done a lot faster. 10% more dmg -> 10% faster to your Iceblock quest: - if you are lvl 3 (!) you just need ONE complete blizzard to clear one wave of minions. don't waste mana (try to stay above 75%). - You can get camps (2-3 Mobs) really early on by yourself (at lvl 4 2x Blizzard, ~17sec). 3. At least in the lower ranked games (and qm) you can go with icy veins at lvl 13. with that talent you can do so much more burstdmg in teamfight and don't need to "hit and run". maybe give it another try when it's not 3 am and 106k dmg is just the beginning ;-) greetings from cologne

Love to see the E build. Never happens. Ever. However i feel like Ring of Frost would have been significantly better in this game since they were so close together all the time. Either way this was some really good gameplay. Hindsight is always a bitch...
The thing is... If you wanna go for elemental you should never place it inside a 5 man cluster. And I agree, ring would've been 100 % better in this game. Anyway, great game! Ty Pally
Feels like a regular QM game with randoms. Few people caring about lane soak, camps, or objective, and spending the majority of the game brawling over basically nothing. Kinda surprised you even lasted that long, they could've ended earlier. But Jaina is super fun to play, and a beast hypercarry if nanoed by Ana.
What I usually do with jaina is I try to land my q on 1 guy, get my blizzard off into a group of minions and heroes and then after 1 tick of blizzard run in and yes the cone of cold, run off so if they chase you they rather run through your blizzard or around it in which if they run through it you can stutterstep auto attack them or completely run away and get them from a distance when your q is off CD again.
That was a rough match to watch, ngl. You had a comp that was basically poking and sieging with no real front line while their comp was almost completely built for the hard engage and super tanky.
27-6 now following your builds...with a caveat on this one. I needed a couple practice matches where I played some of my worst games to get a feel for how this build works. I'm an old school Q Jaina player so this was a big adjustment for me. My conclusion on this is that it's good but situational. Do no play this vs dive heavy teams. A short range mage vs a diving team means dying a lot. Against most other comps it's pretty good though and will play it again against the right comps
Also the ring of frost is REALLY good with the blizzard build. Frost elemental is good if you're split pushing or solo laning imo just to give extra chase to someone who is trying to push you back.
So when taking on the minion waves you seem to like to W then E but the W alone is more than enough. Also when in a fight many times you do the same, which is what you want, but you spam it a little to fast so the your E ends up hitting before the first W wave lands, which is not ideal. Just little subtle efficiencies to help your Jaina play, love the content my dude. Proud of you.
Another fun fact: Not only are Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham married, but they play D&D on Critical Role with Illidan's VA; Liam O'Brien. And probably more but those are the only 3 I know off-hand.

Jaina is my favorite hero, love her since the beginning of HotS and pretty sure she was my #1 on number of matches. That was an intense game, it probably wouldn't change the outcome but some talents would've been better for you and your team. - Ring of Frost despite being harder to land it would help you lock down the enemy, up your damage and set up more combos, Elemental didn't get much value and was most likely destroyed in seconds. - I understand the root at 16 but it really isn't worth it for just 1 second of root, the armor debuff talent however is SO GOOD, your team would do more damage (which they really needed) but most importantly your spells would burst them down so much more specially against the fortress that were Imperius and Garrosh supported by Zarya and Rehgar
aaaaannnnd this is why i like the basic attack dmg at lv7 on jaina. it gives you something to do. in QM ofc. in a coordinated environment, a single combo of all her abilities will result in a kill, then you just slow the fleeing enemies wih frostbolt.
Loved the episode, such a tough and intense game. However, I'd pick icy veins and wintermute with the build you were going since a lot of the times you lacked burst damage or were standing still auto attacking with no CDs, the shield got almost no value in the match.
Gotta say pally, you baited your team by continuing to fight boss after a team fight when you were 3v4 at 19:53. Some bad judgment there not backing off saving mana and cooldowns
Jaina remains my favorite hero in the game because she truely shows talent diversity. You can actually pick any talent at any tier in any order and still get some kind of benefit. Yeah the overall synergy will be lacking but its really ok to just try new builds with Jaina.
I played a lot of Jaina, since close to melee range if very bad is Garrosh pulls you, going Blizzard & Frost Bolt build is the way to go for this game, poke poke. I would put zero talents into Cone of Cold and only use it as a punish.
I think you did a good job. I think you did the best you could with what you had going on. I think it's only fair that to point out tho that the other guys where like tailored build to be a nightmare... and they were just simply better at getting their shit done than your team. Garrosh was nearly always landing his toss and the second he did his hivemind teammates where on that person because they all had movement abilities that let them swarm you super-fast. That was a good game to watch though. Good Job playing Jaina.
Your team put out ~80k more damage than theirs and still couldn't get around the Speed Barrier/Throw combo. Missed enough safe/easy globes that you could have finished L1 at least five minutes earlier, but that's normal for you. But. "I HAVE A BLIZZARD! I FUCKING MISSED IT! OH MY GOD! AAAAAAAAGH!" Solid gold. Well fought.
Just a bit of feedback on the intros, I definitely get how recording them afterwards works well for you. That being said, maybe refrain from saying goodbye to us, it gives everything a vibe like you missed the Superbowl and are going to catch a replay. I understand that's what all TH-cam videos are, but it's more fun not to think about it, ya know?
I find that its pretty good to Q then Blizzard if it's one dude, cone then blizzard if it's a group, while keeping the other ability for utility (like to escape or secure a kill). I only ever really throw blizzard 1st if I'm trying to poke from afar or if it's all I have left. To me, Jaina is kinda funny because while most of your team is in hard engage mode, you still kinda have to be in poke mode until much later
Awesome game Pally! GG. Some things I've found help while running E build: The Level 4 Physical armor is a really nice option, especially vs teams like this one with 5 physical attackers. Its basically like block. For 13, Icy Viens feels really huge for the E build, I love the shields but for E being all about CDR your burst gets much scarier and youre able to usually use Icy Viens every team fight. It helps with that feeling of having no cooldowns available too. The root spam with it at 16 is nuts. Water elemental can be sent out far in front, even if its just to get a chill on an important target that you want to be able to root. 20 Blink is fine especially in this game, personally I like the double slow stacking up to 40%, its just so much control. The level 20 Water Elemental upgrade is also nuts!

Some things I've found help while running E build:
The Level 4 Physical armor is a really nice option, especially vs teams like this one with 5 physical attackers. Its basically like block.
For 13, Icy Viens feels really huge for the E build, I love the shields but for E being all about CDR your burst gets much scarier and youre able to usually use Icy Viens every team fight. It helps with that feeling of having no cooldowns available too. The root spam with it at 16 is nuts.
Water elemental can be sent out far in front, even if its just to get a chill on an important target that you want to be able to root.
20 Blink is fine especially in this game, personally I like the double slow stacking up to 40%, its just so much control. The level 20 Water Elemental upgrade is also nuts!
