    BEFORE you do ANYTHING with it, find the Serial plate decal on it, it will be on the frame, it will have the Model number Series on it ALWAYS use that for parts and work, I worked at the factory from 1972 till 2015 and one of the BIGGEST MISCONCEPTIONS is that they all are the same and you can swap any part from any Model & Series, and adjustments are the same, this is FALSE, if you watch ANY so called youtube expert on these mowers and they NEVER tell you WHAT MODEL or Series they are working on then be VERY leary about any further instructions they give.

    I just got a snapper riding mower today for free, and was messing with it to get it to run. Your video solved the problem of not starting. The parking brake wasn't set. Lol.

      These things are tricky, really makes no sense, you should be able to start them in neutral

  • @nickbrockelman

    It's so loud because the bolts to the exhaust are loose and it's not going through the muffler

      Flange is rusted oblong not holding exact pressure

    So here's what's happening.... as you let it sit, the fuel fills up the bowl and there's enough gas to get it to almost fire up and run, except for there's just not quite enough.
    So at this point 23:20 you know it has spark you and know it's getting some fuel, but it just won't stay running.
    What I would do is to take the air cleaner off and put some brake cleaner in the carburetor and see if it will run for just a second, which it would. That tells you it's not getting fuel and that means it's the carburetor. The end, right? Well maybe.. you see, on top of the gas cap there is a little screw, and if it's turned all the way down where it's not allowing air in, you can also have the same failure that way. I worked on mine all day one day only to find out I just needed to open that screw a little bit and then it worked fine.

      Its sometimes hard to get these old mowers running right

  • @danielborth7753
    @danielborth7753 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You shouldn't have blown the dust out from the air filter you should have taken a vacuum cleaner and vacuum it out what you did is most likely blow the dust right into the carburetor

  • @danielborth7753
    @danielborth7753 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Don't forget to look for all the grease fittings and tip it on the 10:00 and look at the differential make sure the boots are screwed up but then you want to grease your axle maybe even change the differential fluid

  • @danielborth7753
    @danielborth7753 หลายเดือนก่อน

    To clean up all that grease I like to try gasoline in an old paint brush scrub a dub dub then wash it off with the hose

    I don't believe that is the original Motor. Prices? BIDENOMICS! Vote Harris and see what happens! Try a carbonizer on the rust. This will be the most dependable mower you will ever own! Learn the basic and be friends with a shop till you do!

    If you really wanted to save money you could have just bought a carb kit on the Big A. It comes with the carburetor, spark plug, air filter, fuel filter. It’s between 25-30. No need for parts cleaner on new parts

  • @philliphall5198
    @philliphall5198 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    These are really dependable and cheap to operate if you do your own work, seems they all need new tires or just install tubes😊

      Its got oil and gas, it runs. Life is like a box of chocolates… 🍫✅

    • @mechantics
      @mechantics 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thar qr cleaner isn't for carburetor, carb cleaner is ideal, brake cleaner too aggressive.
      But, based upon the contents of the bowl, I hope you pull the carb and clean out the float needle valve seat, jet, and all ports.
      That dissolved outer air cleaner mess was a Precleaner, they're maintained with oil and work great. Don't rely upon the air cleaner paper element alone

    • @mechantics
      @mechantics 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fuel cap? (I'm commenting as I watch)😅

    • @mechantics
      @mechantics 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It'd say the shifter in the carb inlet screen is the same shot that was in the bowl: crystallized ethanol. Next time, blast the crud out from the inlet to the bowl with carb cleaner, don't stab it into the screen.
      The problem through.much of the time is the breather on your fuel cap needs to be OPEN during use

    0:54 If you edge your driveway it drains the puddles. Edges are like gutters for driveways and walkways. I dig mine deep and wide with a shovel so it takes a whole season to fill with stuff.

    The bars on bag do hold the bagger but are also to stand machine up for maintenance. Surprised yours doesn’t have a battery! I had ordered a new carb on Amazon which works great. I’ve seen people use ultrasonic cleaners but with the gunk you had in bowl I’d have just bought a new one for $20. Very easy to service this machine - been using one for 8 years now.
