Many years ago I knew of an elderly gentleman who had worked on the crews that ran power out to many of the Åland islands on the Finnish side. He had purchased a small island at a great price and put a little cabin out there that had solar power as it wasn't one of the islands that got electricity. When he died he left his cabin and the island to his daughter. She was my exchange mother when I was an exchange student to Finland. In summer we would go down and spend two weeks off grid at the cabin fishing and just enjoying island time away from everything. Those were some of the best times of my life, we ate fish from our nets every day and swam and rowed little boats around etc. It was pure bliss.

@@AuroraOlavsdotter good stuff, next time you are beyond the Skerries, pop in for a cuppa or a cheeky merlot...slainte/Skol/cheers...there was talk of swapping Dublin or Edinburgh or Liverpool for Oslo ,Gothenburgh, or Stockholm....it was Norwegian sailors who brought Lobscouse to the banks of the mersey...hugs back to Scandinavia.....E
@@AuroraOlavsdotter PS...which part of Scotland do you like..?? , my cousins are all from Lochaber and Glencoe, ( McDonalds/ clan Ranald)...
@@eamonnclabby7067 🥰🥰 Well I just love all parts of Scotland really😂 I've never been but I have had this crazy obsession since I read the Outlander bookseries and watched the show. Never been that far north in GB but I just have a feeling that I will love it! That's so cool though, the scottish clans and everything😍😍
@@AuroraOlavsdotter Scotland won,t disappoint...but then there is the English Lake district, where Tolkein based Rivendell on, there is a big Hiberno Norse influence there and Lancashire and Wirral ,good luck with your endeavours, travel wise..E
Very beautiful countryside. I knew about Åland, but only because I have a friend who lives there.
Oh cool! Not many people outside of Scandinavia and Finland know of it

It is🥰
*As a Celtic/Nord/Germanic* , , , I love my people's traditions and way of living. There's no '''''big-brother''''' influences here........YET?!?!?
Hi, can you tell me, what camera did you shoot this video with, the video is very beautiful
Thank you🥰 A Nikon D5600, it's a DSLR camera!

The glaciated islands and cabins are similar in Georgian Bay in Canada.

But Alberta has some beautiful forrests, mountains and lakes
@@AuroraOlavsdotter majority if not all lakes are provincial controlled now and require "reservations" to camp and should see some of the waiting lists :(

Awsome life
A beautiful island of ethnically swedish people in Finland, reminding us of it's heritage.
My great grandmother was born there. Her name was Anna Juliana Sundell. Are there any of her relatives still living there?
Oh how lovely! I don't know, there are a few Sundells. Do you know from which part of Åland she came and when she was born for example?😊
Väldig bra 😊👍
Tack🥰
꼭 방문하고 싶은 섬입니다.. 대한민국의 제주도에서~~

Jeju is the biggest island in Korea and world most busy air route to Seoul with more than 100 flight a day. I knew Baglation and Raepsky involved in your history. Hoping I will take Auladic apple soon~~
@@진재종-q1q Cool! Would like to visit South Korea one day😊
My mom was born in Geta. House was built in 1602. I have been there several times to visit. I call Åland Island...the place time forgot. My mom's place is called Pellas. Paradise. Perhaps your next vid could be of MidSummer. Hejdo.
Oh really😍 I know Pellas, my friend lives there, but that's in Lemland right...? Or are there more than one? Åland is a very special place for sure! Next summer I'll probably do one more specifically about midsummer but todays midsummer bits are included in my "life and death" video😊❤
The Pellas I am talking about is in Geta. I am familiar with the surrounding areas. My cousins live in Mariehamn....another wonderful place. My other cousin lived in Kumlinge as a child. I think the time we went there...the population was VERY...VERY small. About 30 or so. She could have been teasing. Åland is Paradise. As the song goes...alla vacart flicka kommer fram Åland. My Swedish is rusty. Great memories. 👍
🇸🇪🇦🇽🇫🇮
Actually there is no Pellas in Geta, but perhaps you are thinking of Påvalls? That is the only I can think of coming close?
@@ugandaobatay1244 You really do have alot of relatives on Åland, how fun! My cabin is actually in Kumlinge😊

Is it private island?
Yes it is, we are the only ones with a cabin on it. It's common here to own an island or share it with two or three people (depending on the size). Åland is made up of 10 000 islands🤩
@@AuroraOlavsdotter It is lucky island.Great place to be happy!
