Your videos are calmness crystallized. Absolutely gorgeous. It's hard to realize that your island is surrounded by salt water, it looks so much like the lakes here in the States. Does your family have the entire island to yourselves? That would be paradise indeed. Thank you for the video, looking forward to the next one. My kids are a little younger than you; I hope we stay as close as your family is.
Thank you so much!😊It is hard to show the magnitude of islands. To experience it you have to go trough it yourself or fly over it, but I do my best with my drone. And yes, our family is fortunate to have the entire island to ourselves. I appreciate your support and best wishes to you and your family!🙏
You remind me of Tove Jansson's love for small and lonely islands, where you could feel freedom, peace, and a sense of great adventure. I always adored Tove's small, rocky, and rugged island on the Porvoo archipelago in Southern Finland. Its small plants growing among the stones. The summer cabin where she lived together with Tooti, writing the Moomin stories. The cabin's windows opened in all four directions... what a dream! Thank you so much, Aurora, for taking us with you on this enchanting new adventure. Your island is a truly magical haven! ❤️
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your incredibly touching comment! Being mentioned in the same sentence as Tove Jansson is truly an honor.🥰 I'll let you in on a little secret... My next video was partly filmed on Källskär, where it is said that Tove found the inspiration for her Moomin house. Your words inspire me to continue sharing these videos. Thank you!😄
@@AuroraOlavsdotter You are truly an inspiration, Aurora! Your vlogs are a source of great pleasure and joy for me. Thank you for sharing the exciting secret of your visit to Källskär-I can't wait to watch it! Patience is a virtue, so I eagerly await your next wonderful creation! Thanks! ❤️

Thank you, I feel blessed to call this place home.❤ I'm excited to share more videos in the coming year, and I hope they can bring joy and inspiration. Hope you have a wonderful year ahead in Louisiana!😁
It is always wonderful to watch your videos. You always manage to trigger a mixture of longing and harmony in me. You find wonderful images and moments in your videos. You bring people closer to the rather unknown Åland Islands. I am very happy that I fulfilled my long-cherished dream in 2023 and visited the islands spontaneously. It was an indescribable feeling when I got off the ferry in Långnäs and was actually there. I could hardly believe it. Unfortunately I was only on the main island but it was wonderful. I really hope I can make it back next time. Then with more time. Now I have a few more questions for you. Do you own the small island on which your cabin stands? Do many Ålanders have such cabins on the countless small islands in the archipelago? Is it theoretically allowed for any islander to look for a free spot and build a cabin there?
Your words truly warm my heart! I'm happy if I can show the beauty and peace that we experience here on the Åland Islands. Even if you were only on the main island, I'm glad to hear that you found it wonderful. Hope you can come back for another visit😄 The island which we have our cabin on is owned by my family. Not all islands and skerries are inhabited since there are roughly 10 000 of them... And I'm glad, because that means that wildlife and nature stays untouched and undisturbed. In order to build a cabin you must first have "hembygdsrätt" (regional citizenship). Then you can buy islands that are for sale and thereafter build a cabin (with the proper permits) so it is not so straightforward... This is in order to preserve the archipelago. Hope that answered all your questions. Feel free to ask if you have any more.
@@AuroraOlavsdotter Thank you very much for your patient and detailed answers. Be careful with the offer that I may ask further questions. I'm a very inquisitive and curious person and I'm sure I'll think of more questions. Certainly at least as many as there are islands and rocks in the archipelago 😄 This year I'm travelling in Norway, among other places. But I'm determined to visit the Åland Islands again. Then for 14 days and with a focus on the other islands besides the main island. Regards Lars
Thank you very much! Altough I don't think it's any better here... I'm currently also in a snow storm here on Åland, so I can relate to wanting to be on summer-Åland instead.😅But at the same time, winter is beautiful in its own way!❄
Your islands have always reminded me of the Isles of Scilly - although they lie 1130 km further south... This video told me why - they're both made of granite! Thank you for sharing your peaceful corner of the Earth - we all benefit to know of such places... Hope the winter isn't too harsh - last satellite images suggested a bit of sea-ice for you
Nature has a beautiful way of creating parallels across distant places. I'm actually fairly familiar with the Scillies since Scotland is my dream destination. I've never been but somehow I am so fascinated.😍 And yes, winter here can be cold but luckily I'm a winter-girl❄
@@AuroraOlavsdotter The Scottish islands are beautiful too, and I hope one day you do get over to the UK - just remember it'll take you most of 24h to travel from the Hebrides to the Scillies - over 800km to the South. There's nothing I know of in the UK that's like Åland - Scilly is a tiny archipelago, but nothing like as sheltered as parts of your islands (and we have over 6m of tide range, so the beaches show many different creatures by depth) Scilly is much warmer in winter - early daffodils are grown outdoors for sale at Christmas and just after. I think you'd like the place - it might feel a bit small!
@@lardo666 Yes, it is cetrainly a very different climate and landscape. Everything is beautiful in its own way! I'm of course more facinated with the nature in Scotland since I'm used to being on Åland😄 I've been to England a few times and love it there! I actually made a video from Bristol last spring.
