Paul, this is BY FAR, THE BEST Katana using, tutorial of TH-cam!!! It can be noticed, you really understand about guitar tones! That's all about!!! Congrats, keep dong it!
I've been playing Epiphone Les Pauls thru my Boss Katana since the Katana was first released. I just bought the Epiphone 59 Les Paul and together with the Boss, it's pretty much all I need....
Yes, it’s Reverb that separates us from “lesser beings” and it’s what makes us human. After all, when have you ever heard of a gorilla play with Reverb?🤣
People dont like hearing this but bb kings favourite amp was a solid state lab series amplifier, it didnt break up and had a very compressed clean sound which was to his liking.
Paul, Thanks for demonstrating what a great amp the Katana is. IMO possibly the best solid state amp out there. Also, you proved that you don’t need a top of the line guitar to get great tone. Keep the videos coming! 🇨🇦
I love my katana it even responds like a true all tube amp where you play soft it's clean and when you dig in it will start to break up and be crunchy for solos and blues lead playing. I alsolve my Epiphone SG g400 and it is awesome got it new in 2004
I got the Boss Katana MKII 50 and the tone studio makes that amp do what no other amp does no need for a tube amp there to expensive the MKII 50 $270 the MKII 100 212 is $530 the best amp I've ever had I recommend it awesome amp
I got the Boss Katana 11 days ago the tone studio makes that amp do what no other amp does it us awesome the sounds are awesomely great I recommend the Boss Katana MKII 50 or the MKII 100 212
Ive got to say Paul after recently visiting your site and being new to the Katana i have found it invaluable for creating the sounds that i like, your style of playing and how your layed back approach to the non technical side of the amp to people like myself makes for easy viewing but what would settings sound like with single coils. I have purchased a used mk2 100w 1x12 and tried and failed with the Katana updates, tone studio and all manner of programing this amp its very nice to see someone get very good tones from the stand alone amp. Thank you showing the step by step way of creating decent tones.
The Sam Ash in San Diego mistakenly took in and labeled a Katana 100 as a 50 watt, so I got it for less than $150 US, and had expected to simply resell it for more money. After watching this, I am certain to keep it. Thanks.
Excellent! Yeah, if we were all playing at mega volume on a stage, we’d be dialing back the bass, and pushing the mids... but at bedroom volume, I think high bass and low mids really gives you that lovely warm tone that simulates the tones you’d get at stage volume 🤣
I really like this step by step tone shaping video, especially with so popular BOSS Katana 100 MKI (I have it too). I think you should just add the same story with single coils and it would be perfect. But the tone shaping process is interesting with almost every amp. It is a chance to see an individual approach, expectations, search and final tone result. So we can also learn something new. There are not so many good tone shaping videos on the net. Well done, thanks!
Great point about the beaminess of the Katana. I found it terrible for that at my first rehearsal with my MK1 50w. If it sounded usable to me, it was ear shattering for my keyboard player (and potentially the audience). If it was bearable for him, I thought he had gone mad since it was atrociously thin and toppy for me. Then I found an online article about beaming amps and discovered the Mitchell donut. Essentially a 12 to 14 inch circle of acoustic foam with a 3 inch or so hole in the middle. I made one out of foam for cheap and fitted it under the grille in front of the speaker. It solved everything. I could wander around and even stand ridiculously off axis and still hear a tone that I could live with. A game changer for under one pound sterling.
Nor had I @@paulstaffordcook8799. I knew players like SRV often stuck crosses of gaffa tape on their grilles and some Vox amps had wooden crosses covering the cone and wonder if they were attempting to solve the problem too. But it seems this Mitchell fellah cracked the problem that seems to be specific to 12" speakers. Somehow their geometry encourages beaminess and the idea of COVERING the sides of the cone whilst exposing the centre seems counterintuitive, but it would appear that it is the bounce of audio waves off the angle of the cone that causes the issue. TH-cam won't allow me to post a link but if you Google 'Mitchell donut' you should find some very convincing details about the experiment.
I prefer to connect my Katana (50w Mk2) to my laptop via the USB and use Tone Studio to setup tones. Works AWESOME! .. I have been able to get a nearly perfect EVH Eruption tone, a nearly perfect Steve Vai For The Love Of God tone, and many more. Coupled with my FS-6 foot switch, I can switch between my 4 loaded presets nicely. I also run my "volume" around 70-90% on the amp and use the "master" for my desired volume. This way I can set the "volume" level specific for each tone preset so when I switch channels the sound level is correct for every preset. Works like a charm! .. perfect every time! .. for a $240 amplifier, you simply cannot beat this little box. I'm now looking to pickup a 100w 2x12 to go with it. Can't beat the Katana for the price.
I heard the same advice...to crank the volume to keep the level close between presets. It has worked pretty well for me for the most part, but whenever I import a patch the volume is then way too low. Its a bit frustrating.
@@terrapin7777 - Whenever I import new presets, I first test them for volume, adjust the volume to what I want it to be, and then re-save the preset. Then it's always good the next time I want to use it. A little bit of a pain, but not much really since I usually do little tweaks to most preset anyway. I usually end up tweaking my own continuously. Little fine tuning here and there, then re-save it.
Tone Studio really unlocks some amazing tones. I have the same model as you, and I used the parametric EQ to dial in some convincing Fender black panel tones.
That’s a brilliant demonstration it’s going to help me as my Gen 3 Katana arrived just this morning… Me i’m trying, and so far failing, to get the Bryan Adams sound, eg Run to you and Summer of 69 etc.. any help with advice would be a welcome.. NOODLES..
Hi Noodles, congrats on the new Katana. I’ve just given both these Brian Adams tracks a quick fresh listen. If you’re talking about the non-lead stuff…. then I’m hearing single coil pickups and probably less distortion than you might think. So I’d be starting with the Katana’s clean channel, and the Gain knob wound up to maybe 6….. to give a little hair on the notes. A healthy chunk of reverb and off you go. Of course, I might be completely wrong but that might be a good starting place. 🍻
Late to the party, but I use my K100 head as a ref for my many guitar experiments. My ref is the brown channel, with all knobs set to 50%, it just seems to be my happy place. I have the 6 way switch, so I have a few other tones set up, but panel is basically the brown with all tones and vol / gain on 50%. I have a JCM900 mk3 head, which also sounds amazing with all pots at 50 ( no preamp gain), but heavily attenuated with a Powerbrake, into a 10 inch speaker, probably my grail tone in fact. Katana is a fantastic amp for the price of a boutique OD pedal.
Cheers Paul. Just got my Katana and really enjoying it. I use the clean channel for most tones. I add a bit of boost with the Blues Driver and sometimes pop the compressor in on the light setting. You’re spot on that the higher gain lead/brown options are not it’s strong point for blues.
Always will have to boost the bottom end to get some warmth at .5w in a house. Need to get it cranked to work out the gig tomes.mIts a great amp though, for the money.
Extremely helpful, Paul! Thank you. I was leery of the lead and brown channels right away and based on what you got out of the other two I will leave it there!
Me and my facebook buddy are back and forth with your vids - so illuminating. He went for the 50 and I have the mini. Great tones for us to aim for. Rocking that lock down hairdo, squire.
well that was a nice distraction for a saturday afternoon, rain is battering down here, can't even see the bridges, I'll "cheap Charlie" ye BTW :) I'm like you, clean or crunch channel only, the other 2 are like a wasp in a jam jar. hope you and your's are all well, thanks for posting (nearly at the 5k subs eh :)
Yeah, nearly 5k subs.... 😊. Little old me 🤣. Soon enough, everyone will realise I’m just a big copycat and I’ll go down in flames. Then you’ll see me busking on street corners, yabbering on about a TH-cam channel I used to have, and that I used to be a “somebody”.
Paul, Thank you for a "Really Great" Video. Your time and efforts are extremely appreciated. You've got a wonderful ear my friend. I just got the Katana 50 MkII and this video will help me "dial-it-in". I Love the Blues so your Blues Tones were just what I hoped for. Thanks again...
Thank you Roland! Delighted you liked the vid. Despite being lucky enough to have a few valve amps, I still love my Katana. On the Clean and Crunch channels it really sounds like valves 👍🔥
This really helped me, I’m more a clean sound player and my Katana is the 50. But I’m going to do a bit of messing on it now, you inspire me to try and get a better tone. Cheers
This might have saved my katana 50 from being sold. I just think it’s too harsh I never really got to like it compared to my Spark, but I agree: don’t go above clean and crunch.
Thank you Dirk, delighted you got something out of it 👍. The Presence control just adds some sparkle or upper frequencies. I think it’s a way to either brighten up a dark guitar or warm up an overly bright guitar. Cheers for watching.
I’ve been struggling to get along with my Katana, but I think this video is going to be really helpful next time I plug in. Cheers! Sadly, my laptop died & so I can’t control the FX on it, but when faced with New Laptop or New Guitar, I can’t resist the guitar. Gibson ‘61 Standard soon to be ordered. Love your stuff mate, keep on keeping on xx
Great vid Paul! Always face the beam when you're setting your tone! When I'm using the combo I'm close up but I have the MK1 head through a 4x12 also and I usually go about 10 or 12 feet away to check my tones... Good stuff!
Back again clean and chrunch great.like you said the rest is very metalic.i play also an 80s rock band if i was useing eg brown sound the other guitar player with his jcm something would just walk all over me.again great man
Hi Andy. That’s interesting what you say about the other guitarist’s JCM just dominating the Katana (on the Lead/Brown channels).... Yeah, I can see how that would be true. Seems Boss have captured the low to medium gain thing beautifully, but continue to struggle with the “full on” rock sound....
Yet it's not going to work... Hahahaha great man.still using your settings and it was great to think about the size of the strings.yesterday was messing with the katana.then zoom gn5.then my fender hot rod....drive down vol.down just enough.no contest.thanks man
I've never used the Tone Studio either. But I just cannot figure it out. I've followed the instructions. Watched numerous videos about it. Still can't get it to work. But it's already a great amp by itself. I play it just like this guy too. Guitar into the amp. No pedals. Put an SM57 (sometimes a condenser mic too) in front of it, & record...straight, raw rock n roll with no editing, processing, plug-ins or whatever. Hardly anyone even records like that anymore...& that's truly sad.
I just brought one home from the pawnshop today, can you explain to me how to save a setting? Any pointers on the use of this amp would greatly be appreciated, a blue's Jr it's not lol
@williamsherman1089 if you're asking me, I have no idea. I still can't figure it out. But it is a good amp by itself. I've owned & played through a lot of amps in the almost 30 years I've been playing. I would like to upgrade the speaker in it though, but other than that, I don't have any complaints besides not being able to get Tone Studio working. & many people have upgraded the speaker in them. & I'll probably use the stock speaker on my little Orange Crush that I put a DIY external speaker jack onto.
@@JakeStrange66 Yeah I'm not tech savvy at all and really have no interest in the Tone Studio thing, I'm quite happy with everything stock on the amp but I know theres some way to save your settings in the edit buttons over by the panel button, it's probably really simple but I'm old lol, so far I love the amp
@williamsherman1089 oh wow. 🤣😂 I didn't even know that. So I don't know. I'd guess my only other complaint about it is the treble is a bit much. A little too harsh or something. Even in the 1 o'clock or 2 o'clock position. But I just dial it back a little. No big deal. That's one of the reasons I'd like to upgrade to a better speaker. But I'm sorry, I don't know how to save your settings. I thought that was something you could only do with tone studio, but I could very well be wrong.
@williamsherman1089 so far, if I turn the amp off, when I turn it back on my settings seem to be the same, with the exception of the volume & master, which I turn down before powering on & off. But if I switch to a different channel or the panel button, I do have to dial in everything again. That part kind of sucks.
Maybe missed it, but when you got to your preferred tone (which I loved) where was your guitar volume set at (10? 5?) and which pick-up setting(neck, bridge, middle?) Thank you!!
Hi Bill. I watched this vid again so as to try and answer your query. At the point of reaching my preferred sound (6:00), the guitar volume pots were full up, and I played some bridge pickup first then swapped to the neck. The overall volume was tamed by the fact that the amp’s master volume is very low (and on 0.5 watts). Hope that helps 👍
Subscribed! Thanks a lot Paul, you are the best I've found so far! You take us in step by step, one thing at a time, also a very good lesson about tone. Cheers from Québec, stay safe!
Sounds really good, especially at the 6-7 minute mark. How loud was that? Because at that point it sounds like the microphone is getting a bit overwhelmed and is farting out a bit. Be great if this was bedroom volume but I get the feeling it's probably quite loud when those good tones were coming along.
Thanks Jason! I’ve just watched it again to remind myself what was going on at the 6-7 minute mark. Actually, it really wasn’t that loud. The microphone is just my iPhone, but with a plug in Lav mic, which was placed just out of shot (about 1.5 feet away from the amp’s grille cloth). So you’re right, it got a bit farty at one point. I’d describe the volume as a bit too loud for after 9pm.... but for normal afternoon noodling, I’d happily play that volume for a couple of hours whilst my wife is downstairs. Hope this helps 😀
Some of my favorite rock/blues tones comes from the brown and lead tones with minimal to NO gain. I haven't pushed the gain through the clean channel yet? Thank you for showing me some new tones! Great content as always.
Thank you Nicolas! Actually, I think you’re the second person to suggest trying the Lead and Brown channels with minimal gain..... and I’m guilty of not trying that yet. Right, next time I’m on my katana I’ll try it. Maybe if I like it, I’ll refer to it in future as “Nicolas tone” 🤣
Thanks Paul, every tip I can get on the Katana helps me. It's a beast to figure out, at least for me. I have the MKII50. I like it but find I have to fiddle with it a lot, and each guitar acts differently. I guess that's true for any amp, but it seems harder to dial in than my other amps. I usually play with single coil... Still looking for the magic sound I want..lol.. I have found some online presets that are decent, but many are for metal. Like you, I stay off the brown channel and even the lead. Very helpful video, thank you!
@@Dad-Gad Thanks, I have done that. I lots of presets. I really want to understand how to make my own tones, and I have to keep it simple, like Paul does. This amp reacts to different pickups more than any amp I have owned. If I switch guitars, even from strat to another strat, it's not the same. I really don't want to use a computer, I find it is an endless task. I have other amps where I have to dive in to tweak. Honestly I find myself playing my blues junior with pedals more than the Katana. Or my Peavey amps with pedals. Not as mind bobbling as the tone studio.. ;o), Thanks.
Great video Paul! But don’t you have a different setting? Or you always go for the Crunch channel full gain more bas less middle and treble around 12? I might be wrong, but i do want that true blues valve sound. That warm rich sound. Thanx 🎸👍🏻
Hi Jesper, hope you’re well 👍. I’d say I have 2 core sounds - my current favourite is CLEAN channel, full Gain plus a little twist of the booster. My second favourite is the CRUNCH, high gain but guitar volume turned down a little (but then swelled to max at certain points). Hope that helps 😀
Hello Mr. Stafford Cook, I was just wondering if you have any advice for getting rid of or reducing the annoying hiss when using lead, brown, crunch settings. Your videos have helped me greatly this far. Thank you
Hi Erik. In a word, no.... I’ve always experienced hiss from the Lead and Brown channels. However, I’m a bit surprised you’re getting hiss from the Crunch channel.... I’ve never particularly noticed that. My playing tends to sit in the bluesy break-up tone spectrum, so I rarely venture past Crunch. My normal katana tone tends to be Clean channel, Gain up full and a quarter turn of the Booster knob. The latter definitely adds some hiss, but I can live with it, as it’s not too bad. If you’re a rock or metal player then yes I can see the hiss could be annoying at house volumes. I doubt it would be a problem at gigging levels though, especially once the song starts 😁
@@paulstaffordcook8799 thanks for the feedback. Crunch has increased levels of hiss if my gain is past 2 o’clock I reckon I should try lower the gain and crank volume. Thanks again for taking the time, hugely appreciated. Cheers
What you have to do is connect your amp to a computer, go to the Boss interface. There is a noise suppressor there that lets you adjust how much or little you prefer. The setting stays put on your amp without a computer connection.
Hey Paul. I’m a big fan of your playing !! Thanks for the video. I have the Katana 100 mk 2. Love it and I’m surprised that I get nice warm cleans from it, among other great tones. Keep on Rockin!!
Actually, no I’ve never gigged it. Mind you, I have played it up to gig volume in a band rehearsal scenario with drums and bass player..... and I was very impressed. Loads of extra volume on tap. And the tone stays great at high volume.
@@davidturnage3467 I’ve never owned one, but most owners say that they are the best sounding desktop amps available, even better than Katana Air and Katana Mini. Having watched a few TH-cam reviews, I’d probably say that it’s true (at least for bluesy edge of breakup and / or ambient cleans). But better than a Katana 50 or 100 combo? I’d imagine not.
Thank you Tim, glad you’re enjoying my playing. And delighted my wee vid had an influence in your buying decision 👍. Actually, when the Katana Air came out, i bought it to supersede the Mini. It does the same job as the Mini, i.e. battery operated which allows me to play for summer tourists - but the Air sounds even better, is louder, and more importantly, it has built in Bluetooth. So the Mini sits on my desk and sadly hasn’t been turned on since ☹️. That said, I’m hoping my son might use it one day, as it’s still a good wee amp. Cheers Tim
I have the same guitar and a Katana 50 Mk II. How do you get that clean country tone toward the beginning of your video? I used your settings and can’t get that tone. Are you using split coils. Typically I keep my guitar tone and volume knobs on 6
Hi Rick. To be honest, I really think that’s just the way I’m playing, i.e. snapping the strings, picking near the bridge (for twang) and using a right hand technique of pick & fingers. I’ve always had country techniques in my playing and I’m the product of listening to countless country guitar pickers ….
Paul, great job, reminded me of when i first fired up mine. I bought the 2/12 100 watt and i get a better rich warm compressed bottom with sparkly high's. what i would strongly reccommend is find a way to get into the Tone Studio! Find somebody to do it for you, if necessary! It is quite complicated at first. That way you can really dig into the fine settings. i know what you mean but, there is no other way i'm afraid. there is a compressor in the settings that will definitely allow you to emulate a tube tone! its worth the hassle, once you get it, save it as "Panel" and yuu'll have it every time you fire it up! best of luck!
Enjoyed the video. However, I could never see myself owning a Katana. The sound is just too harsh, or should I say, shrill for my ears. The only solid state amps I like are Fender's Tone Master Series. I don't know how they did it, but Fender definitely got those amps to sound as sweet and warm as any tube amp I have ever heard.
@@paulstaffordcook8799 Yesterday, the Five Watt World Channel on TH-cam did a live chat related to the Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb. You might want to check it out if you have time. For decades now my trick is to use a Fender Twin Reverb and a Marshall half stack together in tandem using a stereo effects processor. The sound is heavenly to my ears! By the way, I use a tube Fender '65 Reissue Twin Reverb Limited Edition in British Tan tolex. It's a beauty! The Marshall I use is a JVM410 HJS. In my experience, it is the second best Marshall I have ever owned. The best was a Marshall Major 200 PA. That amp could do it all, no pedals or effects required. I also have a Marshall 2555X Silver Jubilee reissue. But to be truthful, that amp sucks. I think I bought it because it looks pretty.
I actually can’t remember what the settings were for that opener…. However, I’d imagine that was the clean channel, Gain knob up full, and probably a small twist of the “Booster Mod” knob. It does NOT sound like the crunch channel.
Hi Thespry. Your first question regarding the Volume v’s Master Volume. On the Katana, I cannot hear a difference. Others may disagree. On a valve amp (which this is NOT), totally different story. The Master volume drives the Power Tubes (not the preamp tubes). So a Master volume REALLY high, and normal volume lower, will send the amp into good old fashioned overdrive and feedback. Think 60’s blues, i.e. Cream era Clapton, Parisienne Walkways, early Carlos Santana. But it’s crazy loud! Conversely, Master volume low, normal volume high, gives you a convenient impersonation of overdrive at much lower volumes, by driving the preamp tubes (not the power tubes). Most old amps from the 50’s and 60’s only had 1 volume. So overdrive, power and sustain was achieved by simply turning up to 9 or 10. Most modern amps have two volumes, for the above reason. Your second question - there’s not much difference between what your guitar’s tone pot does and the amp’s tone pots..... except of course that your amp usually has 3 (Bass, Middle, Treble), so ultimately more tone shaping can be done at the amp. Hope this helps 👍
hı from 2021,ım gonna buy a katana but ı got 2 option Katana 100 mk1 is about 300 euro Katana 50 mk2 is about 300 euro? what would you choose?(ım a newbie, and love to play with tone studio)
What a great question, and an interesting dilemma! Easy answer for me. 100w MK1. And it’s because I tried both the 50w and 100w, and the slightly bigger cabinet of the 100w seems to give it more warmth and general command. It sounds like a bigger sound. So yes, I’d say Mk1 100w. Hope that helps 😁
Thanks Ivan. Yes I got the Fuzz yesterday and I LOVE IT 🙏. You were right. Instant Hendrix 🤣. I couldn’t stop playing it yesterday, particularly with a Strat.... it just makes the Strat sound massive, like I’m in front of a cranked Marshall stack! So watch this space, I’m already working on an instrumental guitar piece, specifically to showcase the fuzz. I don’t want to rush it and mess it up, so probably that’ll be on my channel in about a fortnight. I love how a roll back on the guitar’s volume pot takes me back to honky blues crunch, and then, a quick twist of the pot, BAM!, I’m back to thick fuzzy craziness again. Cheers man, appreciate you opening my mind up to this. 👍
I have made a few different sounds on all four channels with all of the levels and master volumes are completely off. How do I fix that? Do I go into the computer and fix it or do it manually?
Hmmmm..... I wonder if your Katana’s Bass dial is as high as mine? i.e. a decent amount of Bass in your signal (at house volume) will help to drive everything, including the speaker. And then at gig volume, it’s generally wise to reduce the Bass in your signal, as everything is driving already. Ir maybe you’re using single coils.... whereas I tend to use humbuckers more.....
@@paulstaffordcook8799 I'm using a HSS type guitar but maybe the humbucker isn't hot enough. I never tried to bring the bass up I will try as soon as i'll get my guitar back from my luthier. It just that what lacks for me is the strong attack that I hear regardless of what type of guitar is played (even some single coil that you played with the katana in other videos) thz for the advices

I could wander around and even stand ridiculously off axis and still hear a tone that I could live with. A game changer for under one pound sterling.
Wow, up until now I’d never even heard about the Mitchell Donut! Very interesting. Cheers
You’ve a fine ear for the sweet spot good sir. Many thanks
Thank you Wayne 😊

Ah, thank you Michael 🙏
Paul, the gain control gives the amp that “sweet sound”. Thanks for the valuable tip!
My pleasure. Cheers Scott 👍

Dare I say there are some violin type tones reminiscent of Eric Johnson in your Katana. Lovely stuff. Thank you!

It’s a toss up between the line6 catalyst and the katana 50 mk ii. I’m feeling the boss katana for sure
Thank you for taking the time to do a “Real” and “Honest” review.

Cheers Paul. Just got my Katana and really enjoying it. I use the clean channel for most tones. I add a bit of boost with the Blues Driver and sometimes pop the compressor in on the light setting. You’re spot on that the higher gain lead/brown options are not it’s strong point for blues.

One question for the late bloomers.. What's the "Presence" pot(not on the Katana 50 panel...
Thank you Dirk, delighted you got something out of it 👍. The Presence control just adds some sparkle or upper frequencies. I think it’s a way to either brighten up a dark guitar or warm up an overly bright guitar. Cheers for watching.

@williamsherman1089 oh wow. 🤣😂 I didn't even know that. So I don't know.
Very helpful. Many thanks!
Another great lesson Paul 👍👍

@@paulstaffordcook8799 hahaha! I think you'll like the lead nicholas tone
@@nicolasortiz5534 I use the lead with low gain and use the tube screamer to distort the preamp like in real life for a nice heavy tone.
Thanks Crow, hope you get something out of it. 👍😀
Search for the tones to download online , some are absolutely stunning and do all the tweaking for you .
Brilliant!
Thanks funkyjones 😀👍
Thanks for this one.
My pleasure!
Crunch has increased levels of hiss if my gain is past 2 o’clock
I reckon I should try lower the gain and crank volume.

Paul Stafford Cook Have you gigged with your Katana? I hear good things about them on stage. I have yet to gig with mine but hope to in the future.
Actually, no I’ve never gigged it. Mind you, I have played it up to gig volume in a band rehearsal scenario with drums and bass player..... and I was very impressed. Loads of extra volume on tap. And the tone stays great at high volume.
Looks like there’s is a coffee or beverage ring on the left side of the amp top
1:38......."we're not animals after all"! LOL
Yes, I like reverb too!

I'm curious Paul, are you familiar with the Yamaha THR line of desktop amps?
If so, what's your opinion?
@@davidturnage3467 I’ve never owned one, but most owners say that they are the best sounding desktop amps available, even better than Katana Air and Katana Mini. Having watched a few TH-cam reviews, I’d probably say that it’s true (at least for bluesy edge of breakup and / or ambient cleans). But better than a Katana 50 or 100 combo? I’d imagine not.
Great playing as usual! I bought the katana mini based on your video of it,however i cant play like you. Lol. Do you still use yours? Thanks,Tim
Cheers Tim
Perfect
Thank you Andy 👍
Thank you Tom, I’m sure you’re right. It’s tough gettin’ old dogs like me to switch on computers and link up this and that 🤣
Paul I know you sold this amp but would say it’s loud enough to practice with a drummer?
Hi J. Absolutely, I’ve used it at a band audition that I attended….. drummer, bass, etc . Yes, plenty loud and a good chunk left in reserve.
WOW!!!!!
Thanks man 👍
Enjoyed the video.
Man, it sounds like I’ve GOT to try one of these Tone Masters. I’ve heard so many good reports.

Hey I need some help regarding my katana.
Anything I can help with?
There us a tilt stand on the bottom.
Does he start with the clean amp setting?
I actually can’t remember what the settings were for that opener…. However, I’d imagine that was the clean channel, Gain knob up full, and probably a small twist of the “Booster Mod” knob. It does NOT sound like the crunch channel.
whats the difference between the volume and master volume? pls explain like im eight
and would it make a difference to turn down the tone nob versus the treble or the prescence?
Would you say these settings could be used on a Katana 50 ?
Absolutely! I’ve tried the 50 and I’m sure these settings would yield very similar results 👍
Is that guy Don Henley's brother.

what would you choose?(ım a newbie, and love to play with tone studio)
ı asked two another channel, one said no doubt 100 mk1
other said go for 50mk2.What would you say?
What a great question, and an interesting dilemma! Easy answer for me. 100w MK1. And it’s because I tried both the 50w and 100w, and the slightly bigger cabinet of the 100w seems to give it more warmth and general command. It sounds like a bigger sound. So yes, I’d say Mk1 100w. Hope that helps 😁

And i see you already got the Rusty Fuzz. Congrats.
@@paulstaffordcook8799 That will be awesome. We are here waiting. Take your time.
I have made a few different sounds on all four channels with all of the levels and master volumes are completely off. How do I fix that? Do I go into the computer and fix it or do it manually?
Hmmm….. I’ve no idea on that one…. Anyone else care to chip in?
For instants, you’re on stage and you’re switching between channels, but all the channels are different volumes
I dont understand. My katana doesn't bring me that punch.. It seems like it doesn't compress enough
It just that what lacks for me is the strong attack that I hear regardless of what type of guitar is played (even some single coil that you played with the katana in other videos)
