    Thanks for the video Sunny great tips to maintain the mower. What I do for the blades and bedknife is I use a 200 grit sand paper for the blades and bedknife before each use. I then use the sandpaper for the cutting test because its thicker that the copy paper. When I am done mowing I hose it down. Use my blower to dry everything off and then spray the blades and bedknife with a silicone spray and then blow it again to even out the spray before I store the mower. After every few mows I use my Bedknife Buddy to keep it sharp. It has worked well to keep both sharp and rust free.

    Thanks for mentioning that the scarifier cartridge is different than the other ones. I have only used the scarifier and I had the hardest time getting that bolt to catch. I was afraid all of the cartridges were going to be that way. Thanks!

      Thank you! It surprised me, too. It was my first cartridge and it confused me, too. Thought I had a bad cartridge.

    Hey Sunny! Questions, how do you like the Allett Kensington 20” Honda? Do you recommend for a 4k sq ft. 1/2” cut bermuda yard? Do you think it is well built and will last? I have the Cal Trimmer now, and am really looking to move away from the rear wheels to the rear roller type. Also, I like the cartridges and the ability to have a verticutter without another machine. Dont have a large garage, etc. Thank You for all of your great content!

      Alan, I like the Kensington 20H, but haven't used it much since getting the C24 and Buckingham. For a residential mower, it is an excellent mower that will transform your lawn especially if you get the turf rake cartridge. Ideally, I'd recommend the Stirling 51, but cost could be a factor. Come to Facebook and join the Allett Mower Owners group. A lot of people have had issues with scalping along one side as the Kensington (and Liberty) is a light machine and tends to float on thick turf. Then again, I see scalp lines on the big TH-camrs with their Toros, too. Hope this helps. DM me on IG for FB if you want more details.

    Love the channel, but how many Alletts do you have haha good lord, was hoping you could help me, I have a new Buffalo I got from horizon and the unit is taking off on its own, wasn’t doing that a month ago, if I don’t have emergency brake on the. It will take off. I’ve loosened throttle cable at handle and under the motor side housing to its loosest point and it still takes off. Idle is not set high, don’t know what to do. Allett barely answers you anymore and this is a brand new mower. Maybe belts too tight? Replace belts? Can I use belt conditioner on these types of belts?

    • @SunnyBermuda
      @SunnyBermuda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have 3, want to sell the Buffalo? 😂 I’d take off the cover and watch it. The engagement mechanism may be stuck on. These machines from Horizon May be “new” but they all sat in a warehouse since 2018 so there may be rust or froze up pieces. I took my C24 and Buckingham apart down to frame almost and lubed it all. Yes, you can use belt conditioner on these belts.

    An excellent video. You're a credit to to Allett community. I'm in the UK and we have a Briggs & Stratton engine as standard.... so it's called a Kensington 20B - essentially the same machine (although the routing of the throttle cable is from the rear rather than the side of the machine (although Allett might be changing the routing on newer machines). The throttle lever has been redesigned by Allett in early 2021 presumably to address that ridiculously flimsy washer. A replacement is available from Allett/distributors. I too have experienced a tolerance issue with the scarifier cartridge and have found a longer bolt of the same size (but with a half inch longer length) improves that tolerance issue. well done for filming (with one hand a times) so very well. I shall subscribe and watch some of your other uploads. Many thanks.

    • @SunnyBermuda
      @SunnyBermuda  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the kind comments! 👍 I appreciate your feedback on the 20B. I wonder if Allett would send a new throttle assembly that removes that flimsy washer from the picture.

    • @GC987
      @GC987 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SunnyBermuda Mine failed completely and was less that 6 months old. I'm sure if you asked them nicely they would arrange something (maybe just sending you a more robust washer). I would think after one (or 2) seasons of straightening that washer, it's going to fail so maybe worth pre-empting the inevitable. Keep up the great work.

    How are you liking your Allett mower? Where do you send your blades to get sharpen and serviced? I’m looking for your input before I spend over 3000$ on the Kensington H20.

    • @SunnyBermuda
      @SunnyBermuda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it’s a considerable investment. I love the cartridge based system and quality of the machine. Only downside I’ve noticed is on thick Bermuda it will tend to float and scalp on the left side. Haven’t seen the issue with cool season turf. Use code SUNNY247 to get $100 off if you decide to buy.

      Would you recommend using it on Meyers Zoysia? Do you take the blades to a golf course or send them back to Allett to get sharpen?

    • @SunnyBermuda
      @SunnyBermuda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, I’ve never mowed Zoysia and don’t much about it. Typically mail the cartridges to Allett US. If you’re near a bigger city you may be able to find someone to grind them.

    This is easily the most comprehensive video on this particular machine. Thank you so much for posting. This is my second season on same machine and for some reason it is cutting a tad lower on the left side. Is there any other adjustments I have missed to get a level cut?

    • @SunnyBermuda
      @SunnyBermuda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you have Bermuda? This is a common problem I’ve seen from other Kensington owners. From what I noticed, my turf was so thick the machine floats on the turf and the way the drum spins lifts the right side causing the left to drop slightly. I’ve seen some add weights or a sock full of sand on top of the machine to counteract this. Oh, thank you for watching!! 😎
