  • So for this project I fully gave into the ‘magpie-dopamine-craving’ side of my brain and went for all the sparkles. I hadn’t planned on making a sparkly cloak this year, but seeing Taylor Swift’s cloak in Bejeweled made me need one...now.

    Materials:
    3 yards sequin fabric
    3 yards cotton satin
    3 yards sparkly polyester fabric

I personally am also incredibly obsessed with cloaks right now. Amazing project.

The sparkly cloak is amazing! Sometimes, you just need an easier project win for motivation.

I have two things to say. First, I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one who procrastinates on a difficult project by doing another project and, second, I don’t have one earthly clue where I would ever in my life wear a sparkly cape, but now I. Must. Have. One.

One of my favourite terms is 'pro-craft-ination' and I definitely did this here 😂I also have no idea where I'll wear this, but I'm so glad I have it in my life now! Everyone should have a sparkly cape.

Thank you so much! It was definitely painful to have to unpick all that work, but I'm SO glad I did - it turned out so much better!

❤ the hood is absolute perfection! So glad you took the time to re-do it❤️.
I’m in search of the perfect hood for a cloak on my future project “wish list.” I would be very interested in measurements and drafting details on this one. Maybe you can squeeze something like that into the schedule 😉?

I tend to wing my hoods very much, depending on the fabric choice and what I want it to look like at the end. But the starting method I use is super easy - I linked my go-to tutorial in the description which gives measurements for the hood (and then I just round off the back edge so it's not so sharp).

Gorgeous cape. Working on one myself without it being a circle style cape. I'm a little confused about how you redid the hood. Did you just make the hood with 1 large rectangle with top 2 corners cut slightly rounded/curved and then gathered across bottom to fit the neck of the cape? Or Did you make 2 pieces from the large rectangle like the first attempt of the hood? any help wood be appreciated. Thanks

1 large rectangle folded in half and rounded, and then gathered into the neckline - gives a great drape and you can make the hood basically as big as you like 😁
