2 years of military service is hard, no doubt. However, I think some people are just not fit to be soldiers. I know that I wouldn't want to serve with someone, who would go so far just to avoid something difficult and time consuming. I wouldn't trust someone like that to have my back, or to carry a weapon. South Korea is in a unique situation, of course, being technically still at war with North Korea, so I don't see mandatory military service going away any time soon. I don't know enough about the training regimen, and what is expected of a soldier over there to comment on whether or not the service length needs to be that long. How about after your 2 years are up, can you still be called back at some point, for reserve force training or something?
Im a korean boy.. 20 in international age. And lots of my friends are in the millitery service now (im not yet) . So i heard lots of stuffs from my friends what's goin on in the service. U guys may think we(korean men) dont wanna go to the military service cuz the training... but not really. Of course the training is tring and can be super difficult for some people but the main point is that they have to act following the military rules. So it's like Wake up at 6am morning training(like gymnastics or just running) at 7 have breakfast at 8 and so on... and free times are just 2 or 3 hours a day(even that's permitted just in dorms or gym) and sleep at 10 pm. Their private activities are greatly restricted or limited. That's Y we hate to do the service. I was too late tho.. I hope my answer helped u anyway.
Consider Psy had to redo his military service because he was promoting during his first term of enlistment. It cost him so much that he went bankrupt and he had to close his first company and that's why he joined YG (course he finally restarted his own company). He also served 30 days in jail for pot. Hopefully he won't get brought down by the YG scandals
Please do a video on how KNetizens are currently feeling about Chinese Idols in KPOP groups, the protests in Hong Kong, and the Chinese Idols’ support of PRC’s “One China” policy. Thanks.
@Yuju Waterbottle you shouldn't prepare for it then? You are just going to let your enemies destroy your country and your beautiful culture just like in the past? If you are a SK citizen, it's your obligation to defend your country. Our countrymen fought for the freedom of your country. Even though our country was still recovering from WWII during that time, our soldiers the PEFTOK didn't think twice in defending SK. My countrymen sacrificed their lives for the freedom of your country don't you think it's fair enough for you South Koreans to at least have the pride to preserve it? They may have nukes but nothing can compare to the courage of men who wants to protect their country. If you have doubts remember how the PEFTOK fought in the Battle of Yultong. And don't worry about those Nukes. It's not only NK who has one in Asia. Some are just really good at hiding it. You have allies and Filipinos are one of them.
I know it's been two years but please bear with it he was actually a shy and awkward guy until he found the comfort His comeback album "Miss me Diss me" show his vulnerable side like he almost never left his house when the controversies still around, his heart were shredded whenever he caught his mother crying in silence and her mother smile is the only comfort he ever had He didn't even want to contact his closest friend like HaHa (in which was brave enough to call Mong as a friend in public when the controversies still around) in fear that he will get dragged etc etc So yeah, he's a scaredy cat
I remember i used to listen to his music a few years back, and he really made some lit music. Its a shame he really went to such lengths to avoid military service when he could've just gone and come back, and ppl would still want to listen to his music/watch him on shows. Sometimes you really hate something/dont want something but its really not that bad and is a better choice for you to take.
I first heard of MC Mong from the Kdrama "The great Catsby". I liked his style so I listened to his music. I'm so sad his life turned out this way but if you have to serve your country, you have to do what's right.
That's just pitiful, I know things change rapidly for Korean artists if they have to stay off the spotlight for too long, but come on many other KPOP artists take the plunge and do their two years just fine. 😑
Did you get a sun burn?? Korea must be really hot in summer now, I see ya sweating in parts of the video. Thank you for your hard work for putting out all these videos!!
Dang , he thought losing teeth was better than a short enlistment? 🤦🏻♀️ Sad Edit: Ya’ll coming for me like I said something bad about Korea’s enlistment. Two years is short compared to the rest of his life without those teeth. He did wrong and there’s nothing to defend that.
I really don’t care!! It’s been a while since all this and this doesn’t or shouldn’t warrant his career to end. He’s very talented. Hope to see him prosper again earnestly.
My former step father got kicked out of the US Army for refusing to have his teeth pulled. He had a genetic condition that caused the loss of all his teeth at the age of 32. He would have had dentures as the military doesn't pay for expensive implants.
RandomBlackGuy92 agreed, but prior to 1972 it was, the no teeth didn't work back then. Back then many draft dodgers would cut off their fingers that it.
There are so many idols I like who was exempted from military service or was actually put into public service but chose to serve and even serve as an active soldier. As if all those idols/entertainers who served weren't worried about their careers -_- Also, it's your duty as an able bodied citizen to serve that 2 years, especially considering that North Korea is right there and nk and sk have not actually signed a peace treaty. That's why I really look down on mc mong for escaping military
The issue aside, MC Mong is talented. Both in music and variety show. I wish to see him on another show similar to 2D1N, but sadly that might never happen
I kinda feel sorry for mc mong for his talent, because I like his album 'miss me diss me' and listened to it many times. But what he did makes him now.
Haha oh no. The face is because I slept upside down on a wooden pillow. Yes we have wooden pillows in Korea and for some reason I ended up like that. And I have scars on my knuckles 😂😂 like from long time ago. Permanent scars. Not from any fights hahaha
How does the mandatory military works compensation wise? Like what if you have are employee of a private company earning a decent income and maybe a bread winner of the family.. does the government give financial support to the family?
It's kinda sad. I really liked him during the 2 days 1 night era, it's best variety show ever in Korea. Mong's chemistry with Jiwon and Seunggi was the funniest as Seopseopdang brothers. You can tell when Mong left, Jiwon was really sad because his energy was not like before since back when Mong was there, he always hyped up the mood. I still follow Mong's update tho, I'm still rooting for him deep down. He went into severe depression after the incident that Seunggi tracked him down in Japan when Mong went there alone because Mong was pretty much suicidal and Seunggi made sure he's not alone. Now, Mong is a successful entertainment agency president, he's also active in fashion and art related stuff and seems like he's richer now than when he was working as a singer, so seems like he is fine now. He's still very close to Hodong, Sugeun, Jiwon and Seunggi. Sugeun visits Mong's house often and even became a model for Mong's clothing brand once if I'm not mistaken. He and Jiwon also followed each other on social media. While when Seunggi went into depression after the case where it was revealed that he was scammed by his agency for more than 20+ years broke out, Mong who would usually avoid the spotlight and would usually avoid being seen with his 2D1N brothers was seen accompanying Seunggi to some events. No matter what, I'm glad they didn't abandon each other and kept their relationship strong. It's sad that we don't get to see Mong anymore on TV but as long as they're all doing fine, then it's okay. It's really hard to hate Mong seeing that so many people close to him and famous celebrities stood by him, so I'm sure there must be some things about the case that the media manipulated.
what struck me most was the fact that producing on the side for other artists seem like a low enough profile to be considered as “reflecting” and yet he was still hated for it. i mean, you still gotta earn a living somehow
I'm a fan of MC Mong. He's a very talented person. Having a military enlistment issues doesn't affect my fondness of him. Hello? He's not a murderer...He stay on low profile for a while. He's trying to stop himself from showing his talent....That guy is trying to make a money for a living and to share his talent...so, why diss him? We make mistakes, like him.
Oh, my goodness! He could have just gone in and gotten over the whole thing. This M C Mong did not think this whole thing through! That was not smart and was a costly mistake. Dishonesty often does nothing good! SOMETIMES we just have to do what we don't want to do! Pull the teeth out?! Christ, that is one of the worst things to do!

If you guys watched MIX9 (yeye ik ik) , actually MC Mong produced like 3-4 songs for the evalution stages and they are bangers. This dude also one of those who "endorse" Hanbin (BI) years ago (GD's Heartbreaker era).
So many male celebrities do something to avoid their military duty...I guess you even can do a collection about those who tried to escape their duty and eventurally get caught and lost their career.

I knew him from 2 days and 1 night. I think he also close with haha too. I searched for him when i didnt find him in any variety show suddenly. That when i knew that he made a huge mistake regarding of his military service
Oh no that was such a bad move on Kim Jungkooks part to associate with him then, wow. I bet they have some old friendship by being the same timeperiod kpoppers but still, KJK has been working so hard to get back on stage lately it seems from what I've heard so that sounds like the worst move. To delay it that many times.... it made even me kind of angry just to hear you sum it up, what was that Mong guy even thinking? I know KJK has the biggest kindest heart but if this stains his reputation I will definitely feel sad for him. Friends or not, in career you need to make wise decisions. :/ I also kind of wonder if his parents ever yelled at him for delaying it so many times. If he was the son of my parents they probably would have strapped him into the car and dropped him off with the words "it's mandatory, just do it!" that's how they handled my mandatory school experience... by dragging me there against my will at times, mandatory was *never ever* optional. They made sure I knew that they raised me better than that so I can't help but wonder if he ever did upset his parents with this behavior. I would feel like I let them down and I'd be ashamed to be around friends that didn't chicken out of it with excuses like this too. I don't know this whole thing is just so odd. I'm really restraining myself to not rant worse than this. I don't know why this annoyed me so much... maybe because military service used to be mandatory in Sweden when I grew up too? I don't know, but I do find it annoying and immature of him.
Kim jong kook kim jong min mc mong and etc.. I believe they have a true friendship. They have been friends for a long time... being friend before fame n fans..

Firstly sorry for my english but i feel like want to speak out a little bit about him. I feel like i can understand him. He wants to pursue his dream to become artist and famous. With that kind of face in korea its not easy to be known. I feel like he always delay his military service because of his passion in this industry. I think everyone can see how passionate mc mong are right? He took a while to built his identity and i think he got greedy in his passion after he got famous and he is afraid that all his efforts gonna disappeared after he go to military service until he done something unexpected unfortunately. But friends, everyone make a mistake. There is 1 moment when we do childish thing and soon to be regretted. Mc mong are very talented person and just give him 1 more chance. People are mad because he still making money when he need to be repent. But guys, i think he doesn't do for money, its his passion still going strong. So please stop being ignorant, prejudice and why not see another light about him and try to sympathize with him. Maybe you will understand him too.
A lot of young men are so scared to go into service, but they don't have a choice. They also don't have the connections to weasel there way out of it. So shameful. Such a bad example. Where is your pride for your for yourself and fellow brothers, that have gone before you?

Thank you for this explanation. I remember this happening but missed some of the nuances.
A penny wise, pound foolish move. To save two years of military service, he lost a lot more than he expected. I'm sure he's regretting his decision.
nope. Korean males really don't wanna do their service.
I still love MC Mong. I know what he did was terrible, but I cannot help myself. I have discovered him in 2005…he’s my eternal superstar
are u okay?. u look bruised. im concerned
Please do a video on how KNetizens are currently feeling about Chinese Idols in KPOP groups, the protests in Hong Kong, and the Chinese Idols’ support of PRC’s “One China” policy. Thanks.
Yay
U got ur wish
Tengku Aliff - 👍🏻 !
What was he so afraid of, I will never understand
He's a pussy that's why.
@@ianavegnon856 I guess so 😂
@Yuju Waterbottle you shouldn't prepare for it then?
I know it's been two years but please bear with it
he was actually a shy and awkward guy until he found the comfort
His comeback album "Miss me Diss me" show his vulnerable side like he almost never left his house when the controversies still around, his heart were shredded whenever he caught his mother crying in silence and her mother smile is the only comfort he ever had
He didn't even want to contact his closest friend like HaHa (in which was brave enough to call Mong as a friend in public when the controversies still around) in fear that he will get dragged etc etc
So yeah, he's a scaredy cat
I remember i used to listen to his music a few years back, and he really made some lit music. Its a shame he really went to such lengths to avoid military service when he could've just gone and come back, and ppl would still want to listen to his music/watch him on shows. Sometimes you really hate something/dont want something but its really not that bad and is a better choice for you to take.
I first heard of MC Mong from the Kdrama "The great Catsby". I liked his style so I listened to his music. I'm so sad his life turned out this way but if you have to serve your country, you have to do what's right.
He said ION NEED MY TOOTHS
That's just pitiful, I know things change rapidly for Korean artists if they have to stay off the spotlight for too long, but come on many other KPOP artists take the plunge and do their two years just fine. 😑
Thank you, I always look forward to your videos.
Did you get a sun burn?? Korea must be really hot in summer now, I see ya sweating in parts of the video. Thank you for your hard work for putting out all these videos!!
I'm here to ask the same questions! I couldn't even focus on the video. 🕵🙀😛

Sara Karim
Aaayyyy😝…I am glad to find you ask, it was getting a bit difficult to focus on what he's talking about😆.
it lookd more like he got in a fight or something... look at his fist... :B
Dang , he thought losing teeth was better than a short enlistment? 🤦🏻♀️ Sad
Edit: Ya’ll coming for me like I said something bad about Korea’s enlistment. Two years is short compared to the rest of his life without those teeth. He did wrong and there’s nothing to defend that.
2 years is not short.
His actions are not justifiable but you cant talk about korea’s military enlistment just like that.
You should enlist!
He has to do it though. There’s no excuse. Losing teeth is permanent and he chose to do that to skip out on his duties. I said what I said.
As outsiders, we shouldn't talk about enlistment like that. If we had to do mandatory military service, we'd probably try to delay it aswell.
I really don’t care!! It’s been a while since all this and this doesn’t or shouldn’t warrant his career to end. He’s very talented. Hope to see him prosper again earnestly.
Miss him in variety shows. And with the cast of 1n2d s1. I hope he will release a new album
CAN YOU ALSO MAKE A VIDEO ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR HAND ?
If he was in the US they would of taken him and gave him dentures, that trick won't work here.
My former step father got kicked out of the US Army for refusing to have his teeth pulled. He had a genetic condition that caused the loss of all his teeth at the age of 32. He would have had dentures as the military doesn't pay for expensive implants.
Lydia Not Deets think your right about implants but they do crowns and bridges and they gave me several. SFC Mike us army retired
If he was in US he wouldn't have to worry about the military cause it's not mandatory
I dont see how bad teeth with him doing his service. It doesnt really physically limit him so 🤷🏾♀️
no matter what...mc mong song was cool, love the lyric and help me a lot during my teenage life even now I still listening to his song.
The issue aside, MC Mong is talented. Both in music and variety show. I wish to see him on another show similar to 2D1N, but sadly that might never happen
This guy makes good music.
Idk man.. All I know is I love him in variety shows and love his music. I miss those time..
Very detailed and well delivered video. Thank you for explaining it through :)
Because of him those people who really in needs effected by the law has changed negatively
I kinda feel sorry for mc mong for his talent, because I like his album 'miss me diss me' and listened to it many times. But what he did makes him now.
Were you sunburned or were you involved in a fight? Even your knuckles are red.
I'm seriously concerned here.
Haha oh no. The face is because I slept upside down on a wooden pillow. Yes we have wooden pillows in Korea and for some reason I ended up like that. And I have scars on my knuckles 😂😂 like from long time ago. Permanent scars. Not from any fights hahaha
Never did i know that mc mong had that kind of experience.
Im here questioning how the goverment pass those delay permission to 6th times.
How does the mandatory military works compensation wise? Like what if you have are employee of a private company earning a decent income and maybe a bread winner of the family.. does the government give financial support to the family?
I like the way you say ‘hmm’ 😂
And oh yea i know mc mong doesnt approve everyone who requested to follow his personal ig. But heyyy im one of the approved followers! ❤️🤘🏼
I love to watch him in 2days 1night..
Smart analysis and report....Look forward to your future videos...Cheers.....subscribed!!
I vaguely knew about this because I really liked his music, but seeing how many times he requested to delay is really.. upsetting
Cant and will not understand him
Pulling his own teeth, boy that is nightmare
KBS banned him.I am still a fan of his.Hope he can make a comeback
I wanna know what happened to Boom. He was a popular MC but I haven't seen him anywhere now.
He still mc-ing,the show that called amazing saturday,it's likes guessing lyrics for song and get a reward by food, many k-idol also be the guest for the show, 2 weeks ago i think taeyeon and sunny from snsd.
@@DonghaEunhyuk Thanks for letting me know. I didn't know he is the MC for that show. But than I haven't been keeping up with Korean variety shows lately. I'll be sure to check it out.
I know that military service can be rough physically and mentally, but how much harder can it be than the training regime of a kpop star where they work non-stop and don't get enough food or sleep? To be so bad that you would PULL your TEETH. Ouch.
Frankly I wouldn't be surprised either way, but if he did it definitely backfired!
If you guys watched MIX9 (yeye ik ik) , actually MC Mong produced like 3-4 songs for the evalution stages and they are bangers. This dude also one of those who "endorse" Hanbin (BI) years ago (GD's Heartbreaker era).
i loveee mc mong
wait so this was the guy that pull of his teeth
Who would have guessed that 2 months later Mong's album would be topping the charts....
So many male celebrities do something to avoid their military duty...I guess you even can do a collection about those who tried to escape their duty and eventurally get caught and lost their career.
Why does it look like you got into a fight?
i loved mc mong in 2 days 1 night and tbh that show went down hill after he disappeared o no
I miss MC Mong he was such a fav of mine! He should have made albums ahead of time then served! When Psy became a hit in the US I remember thinking this could have easily MC Mong 🤦🏼♀️
I really miss MC Mong - he is the best when it comes balancing music and rap. You should do an mv on Psy and all of his legal problems, including having to redo his military service
I'm staring to feel like they all become hated by not going to military, thanks for the upload
I used to like him.. he's very talented
Regardless of his past mistakes or current, he is still a kpop Star I like..
I will always watch your videos with all the ads that may not be enough but i really hope you could save up some money to buy yourself an AC.
Why do people act like their career is over once they go to the military. If you continue doing music after serving than you can always do a comeback...
do a story for se7en??
I knew him from 2 days and 1 night. I think he also close with haha too. I searched for him when i didnt find him in any variety show suddenly. That when i knew that he made a huge mistake regarding of his military service
study is not for everyone so does training like a soldier.....
I also kind of wonder if his parents ever yelled at him for delaying it so many times.
@@lemontea2291 exactly. They go way back. Still love the friendship between mc mong, jong kook, HaHa, jong min
why many celebrities try to avoid or delay this military enlistment?
i have a favour, could u investigate about snsd n jessica 9/30 for a fair perspective?
.
n is it true that jessica was blocked from the tv show n entertainment in korea?
Came here after Park Bom dropped a song with him. Apparently she doesn't really care about the stigma associated with him. Considering the backlash she's received herself I am glad she's not letting people's past interfere with her decisions.
Song titled?? Pls
That's an awkward angle.. hunching over for the camera
You should really give the date or the year of these events. You're talking about a controversy that is spanned over 9 years, but you're talking about it likes it's recent.
Helen Kim Yeah, I’ve thought that it is not so much old story but it is kinda opposite...😀
Thugmong1? ....... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀!!!!! Ain't nothing thug about a person being too scared to do their duty.
Please do a story on Yoo Ah In, he failed his health exam so many times but neitizens seem to still attack him about not being able to go to the military
Hi Korscouter,
I've really enjoyed you videos about all the Kpop and Korean culture, particularly the scandals and videos like this.
Do you have any plans for doing a video on Country Kko Kko's Shin Jung Hwan? I remember he was really popular on variety shows.
Thank you and keep it up!
Nice video. I know MC MONG when that time he is part of 2 days in 1 night variety show. I like he's song too. I like him together with jongmin and the other members of the variety show they are so funny.
Miss him in variety shows and also with 1n2d s1 cast
I really liked him in 2 days 1 night tho. But this is my first time hearing what happened to him, why he disappeared in the KPOP Industry.
omggg this dont have nothing to do about korean but can u please make a video explaining what is going on in china and talk about why all (the most) idols chineses from korean groups are posting that same picture
I mean ... what ..?
@@hanrin6623 what what???
So he never did his military service?!
Marigje Otto nope he never did it. He is blacklisted in the entertainment industry.
Hey Korea scouter ...why is there a backlash , ban, petition and what not every single time ....aren't celebrities human too ?? ☹️☹️☹️
Whoosh
I like him.. his good in variety show, he just like HaHa.. very playfull, talkactive, good sense of humor but too bad just because dont want enlist into military service.. the career being superDOOM😔😔
MC Mong is one of the best MC's in Korea, yeah Service dodging is a big no-no, but MMDM in 2014 and ASFY in 2015 (Love Mash was song of the year, don't @ me.) put him back on the map! Love him or hate him, he's just too awesome and too fun to hate
After watching D.P I kind of get why he would want to avoid military tbh
I know him from 2 days and 1 night, he was so funny.
You forgot to mention people who watched 1night and 2days took a picture of him laughing or just opening his mouth and there it was missing teeth.
