The one here is a "version B" model meaning that as you've said, they've made the improvements that they learned are required from colossus. But yes thorpe could make those adjustments but I believe colossus also needs retracking too which may be prohibitive. Maybe just new trains. Merlin need to focus on a new coaster for thorpe at this time in my opinion and sorting out their SBNO rides and general appearance

I don’t know if I’ll travel to Italy or this theme park, but if I do, this becomes a must ride. It’s so cool to see the scenery do a 360 degree spin every time the coaster goes through an inversion.
What's funny in the comments, is to see "This is a copy of Colossus at Thorpe Park!", "They should have let the unique" and similar. This is not a copy, because it is a layout designed and sold by Intamin, the manufacturer of this type of coaster. There also to those who say that this is not a roller coaster. What is it for you? For me it's a good roller coster!

This is an amazing and beautiful ride. I only wish it lasted twice as long as it does.Watch each video. It shows you the entire ride from all possible perspectives. It's outstanding.

Actually, the original is Monte Makaya which stands in Brazil, in a amusement park which is closed nowadays. Monte Makaya was the first one and with 8 inversion. Intamin (the manufacturer) just add 2 more inversions.

Oh, that machine is sublime. The engineers really make it seem like it's going far quicker than 52 miles per hour, even on the less disorienting parts. I'm impressed!!

One of the first versions of this ride exists at Thorpe Park called Colossus. Flamingo land, also in the UK has plans for one of these updated "version B" models for their park. This is basically identical to the original 10 Inversion model with a few little tweaks for a more streamlined and smoother run. Colossus has suffered from slight rough riding in recent years.
My head hurts just by looking at the UK park fanboys in the comments section below.

Many people when they think of Italy do not think about amusement parks, especially when we talk about cities like Rome but in reality we also have nice Parks like: Gardaland, Mirabilandia, Magicland, Cinecittá world, movieland, Leolandia (but more for children), etnaland And many other aquaparks worthy of a visit especially in the hot Italian summers.
I must say these 10 inversion coasters by Intamin, though they're clones, they seem like very good clones, like batman the ride at six flags parks.
Too bad there's none in the US.

It made me want to go there....recently I finally got the courage to step into a real roller coaster....Baron in the Efteling....now I want to try to slowly extend this experience....I only still "fear" the non roller coaster attractions where you just swing left and right....higher and the go 360....but I really like the speedy rollers and eventhough I fear heights I want to overcome that fear now little by little....and doing a road trip through Italy now....so tempting ;)

the track layout is 95% the same (the drop is right off the lift, and the heartline rolls are lower, and theres a smaller turn at the end), but the track is different (more triangle type track) and this one looks bigger for some reason. this looks better than colossus.

This isn't the same as colossus, the first drop is a completely different shape and on this there is 3-tube track the whole way around, unlike colossus which only has it on some parts of the ride.
It had some slight modifications, but still follows the 10 loop footprint.

Just found out about the attractions of Cinecittà World, will go this July with some friends to finally enjoy outdoor activities and Altair seems to be the main and most exciting attraction of the park. Can’t wait.

Roller coasters that just have inversions one right after another for the entire ride are simply boring to me.
When the Great American Scream Machine opened here in NJ at Six Flags Great Adventure, it tied the then-current world record of seven inversions. The first couple of times I rode it I thought it was great, but it soon came to be obvious that all those inversions right after another, between then little more than slight curves to line you up for the next one, was done merely for bragging rights as to how many times you went upside down. The ride as a whole was tedious, repetitive, and just felt slow, even though it actually was the fastest looping roller coaster in the world when it was built.
Things only got worse over the years, and the ride quickly became extremely rough (on top of the boredom). It was finally scrapped in 2010.
Don't get me wrong -- inversions can be awesome when they are done right. When they actually enhance the layout and are not merely sandwiched in so the coaster can HAZ M0AR LOoOPZ, it's great.
Quick drops, big airtime, and fast turns are much more exciting. Case in point: El Toro (also at Six Flags Great Adventure) is one of my favorite coasters. The thrill and the sense of speed refuses to let up until the final brake run, and there's nary an inversion to be found.
I dont EVER have to go upside down if you ask me. I like speed and steep drops and quick turns/transitions. Going upside down is so quick, you dont really know it if your eyes are closed. A lady was sitting next to me on Alphengheist and she was terrified about going upside down. She screamed and kept her eyes closed the whole ride and when it was over, she hadn't even realized she had inverted.
Why are people complaining about it being a copy. Plenty of rides have clones. Like Boomerangs, which has over 51 made. Or Batman (inverted) which has 12 made.

Both coasters were made by Intamin. The layout for Colossus became an off-the-shelf model any park could order.

People are saying that this is a copy of Colossus ate Thorpe Park, but even colossus is a copy of the 8 inversions model by Intamin. The first 8 inversions coaster by that manufacturer was Monte Makaya in Terra Encantada, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Colossus is just the Monte Makaya's layout with two more inversions. Why? Because it's the very same manufacturer and they can do it if the costumers want.
I’ve done that and it was amazing, the ride just lasts 45 seconds. It doesn’t scare at all and you don’t feel dizzy after that, it’s very cool, nice experience.
It surprises me how many Englishmen are so patriotic about their rides and landmarks. Almost none of them do any research before they protect their oh so great rides in a ignorant way. It makes some of them look a bit stupid.

It's a dull, unimaginative layout with inversions just for the sake of it, especially the barrel rolls at the end. It's rough, dilapidated, the theming is awful and the trains are really uncomfortable. The only good part is the airtime headchopper before the cobra roll.
I think colossus is a great ride, I mean every time it go to thorpe park it's line is over two hours which is more then any other!
Colossus isn't even the original layout, besides it has a fantastic layout, the problem with it is how badly it has aged, it's so rough and unconformable I avoid it now. The rattling noise even before the first drop is just a joke. This is colossus mk2, after you learn from the predecessor, lapbars, super quick lift hill modern construction, it looks super smooth, I would love to see Thorpe refurbish Colossus.
Olii Sant Personally, I think it works well with the overhead paths, and the theming isn't that bad; I personally think it looks pretty cool as you walk under it and see the cobra roll. You're right about the heartline rolls though: really, really slow ending, very repetitive after the first one and very anticlimactic.

The only thing they really have in common is that they aren't called barrel rolls and they are inversions.

You mad? Colossus was awesome and this is just a better version. Smiler sucks because it's too compact and not well thought out. Coasters don't have to have loops to be good. John wardley told us he thought smiler was boring. Go back to woodies or good airtime coasters-uk theme park industry is now just about records, not fun but I guess its what the park wants
the triangular box section track definately makes it more comfortable. And this is ablut the 5th or 6th clone of collosus to exist I think... (scuze spelling)
How can a coaster be too compact. A compact, dense coaster is good. Wardly can say Smiler is boring, sure, he designed Nemesis. But Colossus is 10x worse. The headbanging would KO the poor man

The park is actually really pretty. You can't tell from the video, but it's supposed to resemble a studio based around the famous movie studio Cinecitta', hence the name. The themed areas are epic. There is another amazing roller coaster in this park called Darkmare. It's the same kind of coaster as Th13teen but with a different layout, fully enclosed and with much more epic theming. Even better than Verbolten maybe... Haven't been to BGW, but... Park's also got this epic drop tower which is a spawn between Hurakan Condor and Apocalypse at Drayton Manor. Epic!
Lily T Sadly, I am used to this. Few American parks bother to use any theming, and the Six Flags parks have become famous for putting rides directly over a parking lot. (Used to at least throw grass over em, now they can't be bothered for that even lol)
