I just ran across your interview series, and I just want to say how much I appreciate you and your family doing them. Your family models how a family ought to work! I want your mother for my own! (even though I'm probably older than she is ;) You are awfully lucky in being Canadian, but not nearly so much as having your family! Thanks.
I am glad you realize how lucky you are. You seem very confident with yourself. That's good! I found the video helpful. Wish you well on your journey and thanks for sharing.
Well, I'd say, so far so good. You've got a good head on your shoulders brother and I'm proud to have you on our side. Things will only get better now! Hang in there and be strong man!
Hi Scott! Your video was one of many videos that I looked at 4-5 years ago that gave me the courage to come out. Thank you! I hope you are doing well!!!
You're awesome! So glad you did this. Please keep speaking to the kids. They'll listen to you, and you're good at it. You're helping so many people; more than you know. All of the very best! J.
You are indeed very lucky to have such an accepting core of family and friends. I feel it would be very much the same for me with the exception of my dad and his side of the family. The last minute, the message about it helping one feel better personally is very true. Simply because keeping the facade goes against ones true self. No one should be made to bear this burden. At any rate, good luck with school, socially and academically.
well that is inspiring, i have only come out to my mother and all of my friends and they seem to have no problem with it... there was a few funny moments and akward silences but is so much more of a relief instead of looking over my shoulder everytime i went out with my boyfriend, now all i have to do is remove the remander of the lurking shadow and tell the rest of my family but i am in a happy place. I'd just like to say thankyou, you are an inspiring young adult and are a true inspiration
Good for you! I think your story is great...The good thing about your situation, is your into sports and if anyone gives you any crap you can take care of yourself if need be. Hopefully that would never happen, but yeah, your story is inspirational. I think people like you are what will finally help to end discrimination. Your family is awesome!
Awesome, moving post. I'm glad that you've had nothing but positive responses from friends and family so far. Like you, my sister was the first to know and was also supportive. Don't worry too much about your schoolmates, though--I didn't think I knew any other gays in my catholic school back in Wisconsin; however, I did catch up with several later in life. Take care!
You are exactly like me, but I was jus a bit younger than you, when I was finishing kindergarten school, jus passed to first grade and yes I was confused, wondern WTF IS wrong with me, what happened to me, I had an attraction to boys and I didn't know why😭😭 but managed to figure out this thing, (move on growing up) for I eventually found out I wasn't alone, for I've got a few relatives who are also gay, (I DIDN'T KNOW), IM LIKE NO FREAKN WAY!!!!!! And BOTH FEMALES AND MALES) I WAS SHOCKED, that certainly helped me out A LOT!! I talked to them about this. Good for you squirt, glad you were able to get this off your back, I know you feel a hell of a lot better, especially after you notified your parents and their acceptance of YOU, Take care now❤️,, live your life, were all in this TOGETHER, WERE human beings, 👌✌️👏👍🤗 🤗🤠😉
You're getting a lot of love on this channel so you won't be surprised if I add my two cents worth. I found your video by accident and I was moved by your courage and honesty. Although you're a complete stranger to me, you make me less cynical about humanity. You have a positive effect on people and that's an awesome gift. 7025 views as of 8:20 am
Deep inside and all by our selves hurting and be utterly terrorised into complete immobility a sort of inner paralysis, that has bad affects on our whole life everything suffers academic achievement, mental health to normal socialisation . Well done Scotty my man!
awesome for you, man. You should be really proud of yourself. There are so many people out there that let their fear keep them in the closet and miserable. You walked through the door and because of it, all kinds of new doors will open for you. congrats!
Your video does show that there are many gay people who know that they are gay from a very early age. After all, you are pretty young when you are in 3rd grade, and even in 7th grade. Yet, you knew. It's good to hear that your family was so accepting of you. I hope that other families will watch this and see the right way to behave, and I am placing this video on "My Coming Out As Gay" TH-cam Playlist.
Hey man, I loved the story and I hope you did manage to pull through with coming out to your school :) Thanks for taking your time to share your experiences and good luck!
you are an intelligent, thoughtful young man. ignore all the haters. they have nothing to do with your life and are completely irrelevant. i'm glad you've had so much support from your family and friends. best of luck to you. PS....you are gorgeous!
i know exactly what you went thru cuz i am going thru it. im 21 and coming out it took a heavy toll on me. but it is not a choice and nobody should be punished for how they were born. Sexual Attraction is something we can NOT control. good luck and god bless.
i'm glad your experience was a lot better than mine, i'm 31 now and my mum still thinks it a phase which can be cured by good old christianity!!!! i know it's just tragic !!!!
You are very mature for your age. For any age! You are also very intelligent and articulate. Thank you for this project, which I have just learned of. It is important and will help a lot of people.
everything that i have done is clear evidence that i was able to get on with my life as soonas i just told my parents this is who i am and i have no intention of changing to satisfy you you know just love me or hate me i dont care and they where just really cool about it and they said well yeah we figured we didnt need you to tell me that but i really admire what ypou did though coz it does take some courage to do it come out to your family i was shaking when i did this and i had to do it alone.
I really liked your video, very touching, very heart-felt... I think young gays need more people like you. Did you end up coming out at school? How did it go? A++ and all the best Nic
@big93scott You are truly blessed in your family and it’s great to hear you express your gratitude for that! The closet kills! I can't help but being so proud of you my friend! The world you will be "out" in is a far less hostile place than that which I came out in as a boy! When I was not yet 18, I met and fell in love with a boy named Bobby Griffith(Prayers for Bobby).
I am far from a stereotype myself, so I know what you are going through. Most of my friends, even close ones, do not believe I am gay. Why I would lie about something like this is beyond me. Even tho I am 100% gay, most of my friends are straight because I get along better with them. They check out women as I do the same with guys, and then we joke about it. It's all cool, and I am about 4 times your age. You might prefer to hang out more with str8 guys later on, and that is fine.
I would just like to let you know that I Respect you a great deal for coming out, especially in the way you did, even though you knew it could cause you worlds of hurt. I'm gay as well, and have been with my Boyfriend for 14 years, and we're also open about it (Not in the 'making out, groping, etc.' way, that's just not our thing at all. We just don't pretend to be friends instead, we have matching rings, and if someone asks, well we're not going to lie. - Best of luck to you in the future. :)
Dude your storyvis gr8,I'm 14 and I'm kinda the same as u, nobody would think I was gay, except for the 4 friends I've told so far, i play sport I do trainning and weights. I'm willing to do manuel labour and stuff to. People steriotype to much these days, gd to hear something I can relate 2, just can't wait till I can have a proper relationship with another guy, I need it. Great vid 5/5
@midevilmonkeyterd tell a really close friend, or someone you just trust the most. that should make it easier, and help you feel less nervous. good luck, and remember who you are is awesome, and no one can take that away from you!
You have my respect and my admiration. More importantly, you are now free to love the world. But now you have to stick up for others in the Gay community. Don't fall in with that portion of the gay community that puts down those who don't fit in with the "in crowd". As you grow older, you'll figure out who these folks are. You are an example now - keep standing tall for ALL gay people.
thats amazing... ive knewn sense spohmore year of high school im in senior year noww but as of now im still closeted ive only told my childhood friend im gay and a few very close friends i tryed comming out to my mom and when i did she seemed soo shock and i was scared so i said im just kidding and later that night she was talking to me and i keep denying it saying nahhh im not im really struggling right now but thats amazing your story has given meee some hope :)
Hey Scott. An amazing coming out saga! I sure would like to meet you . I'm considerably older than you. Took me over 40 yrs to be comfortable with being gay. I'm jealous because you came out as a teen, but I was 40+ B4 I accepted who I really am.i also had the Hellfire and brimstone at church to contend with. But God made us ! Gay Straight or in between, "IT'S ALL GOOD"
Brilliant job. You're head is well screwed on. You've got a wonderful family (see the "interview" videos), probably in part responsible for the former observation. And, you live in a country that has started to recognize the importance of nurturing its gay citizens. Not everybody is so lucky. But you've shown everyone what the world COULD look like if we work at it.
Good video dude!!! I'm a 13 year old lesbian and in 8th grade and my school is very homophobia. If I told one of my friends it would pass on and spread rumors and eventually everyone in the school will hate me for who I am.

@big93scott Ciao Bello! Con L'Amore e Molti Baci! (With Love And Kisses) Il Tuo Nuovo Zio "Gay" e Amico! (Your New "Gay" Uncle And Friend) Blaine
@big93scott It thrills me to know that you will be able to lead an authentic life as a gay man, and will even likely be able to marry the person whom you love, if you so choose! Yeah!!!! May G-D Bless You! Blaine
Very interesting story. Very similar to mine, although I have not posted it on the Coming Out Archives yet. I subscribed so keep in touch. Check out my vids.

When you come out at school, will they expell you? I hope not. Good luck to you young man, and thanks for sharing your story. PEACE.
@kzwang i think this was the best coming out story that i ever had to hear
Thank you, and good luck with college :)
Good video dude!!! I'm a 13 year old lesbian and in 8th grade and my school is very homophobia. If I told one of my friends it would pass on and spread rumors and eventually everyone in the school will hate me for who I am.
BTW...I guess Troy Aikman just came out...who woulda known? haha..:)
Thanks man!!
my mom wasn't acceptive of it at first but she did in time my dad never found out he commited sucide before he ever found out my dads side doesn't know my moms side does know they accept that there behind me 100 percent

@big93scott
His family at the time was dogmatically
religious, and the pain of the closet was unbearable for him. He took
his own life in 1983! Thankfully that was a long time ago and much has
changed. We're not quite there yet, but full inclusion is within sight!
everybody loves Canadians!
You made absolutely no reference to my argument whatsoever. Fine job sir, fine job.
Canadian? Kewl. I'm from the Netherlands. Wanna chat sometime? Always like to meet new people.
You definitely don't meet the typical gay stereotype.... me either, I mean, I am not into sports, but I am not a flamer. I don't like the whole flamer thing, not into it. I enjoyed your video and the other videos that you have posted. I am glad for you that you have had the acceptance that you have found.
you're brave man. braver than me im to scared to come out to my family
aww don't troll him, he's so cute :)
Try listening to my preaching and stop responding to his comment... :)
LMAO this is exactly what I meant in my recent comment on EX-Gay. You totally avoid the interjection alltogether.
i was the first to break the gay straight barrier at my school in like 8th grade. And on top of it its in this rural ranching 4h type of community. so it's tough. Not only that, i seem to fall for all the guys that are definitely gay, but totally in denial. It's sad really an i just want to help them along. but all of this has it's own time frame . . . i see that (sorry that im ranting). i just fall so hard sometimes, and they dont want to catch me.
You sound exactly like the gay character in "six feet under". Great story though,glad it all worked out
Are you the youngest of your siblings?
@midevilmonkeyterd tell a really close friend that is open! youll feel really good.
@uraine7626 Who am I? A servant of Christ. I'm a pastor, a missionary, a chaplain (for two hospitals and the sheriff's department), I have a master's in theology, and am currently writing a book. When guys send their parents a letter or an email, I do not blame them at all. My parents were extremely anti-gay....to the point of actual mental and physical violence on me.
We will have to agree to disagree on that one.
@scheiSSkind77 very observant.
Thnx man.
You gay 2? Where ya from?
im out to like four people officially but alot of people think they know but luckily 3 of those people r good friends (ones kinda a boyfriend) and the others an ex girl friend so think of that wat u will lol
being gay is so normal, its a shame you had to make an announcement to the world . Straights don't have to worry about what others will think. Be proud of who you are.
@guy3911 same here
i love you
lol
Im sorry if this sounds ignorant, but usually i can tell if someones gay by how they dress and what their voice is like (especially the voice), but i wuldve nevr guessed ur gay. This also mite sound ignorant but ur voice really doesnt sound gay at all and you are they only gay person i know that doesnt hav that "gay" voice (i dont know what to call it but you know the voice im talkin about)
TheVideoGametuts the best way to tell if someone is gay is their friends; gays usually have more female friends, whether they’re effeminate or not
@big93scott
Ciao Bello!
Scott "Amico Mio" I know your great contribution to the "Coming Out" archive is getting on a bit here, but Bobby Griffiths' (Prayers for Bobby) old lover/boyfriend "Blaine" here, believes it's never too late to tell a friend just how fricken proud he is of him!

It thrills me to know that you will be able to lead an authentic life as
a gay man, and will even likely be able to marry the person whom you
love, if you so choose!
Yeah!!!!
May G-D Bless You!
