It has become my go-to tool for background vocal busses. I had long gone to the 1073 for adding cut-through sizzle. The Vitamin allows for a little more control over subtle differences that can occur in vocal performances.
honestly, I'm checking this out because I saw a guy do a youtube series on a range of plugins that would help him "replace" this one. I'm like, damn, that plugin must be good if he has to search so far and wide to find a combo that would replace it...
They said upgrade this plugin so it keeps the output at the default level you choose (edit: you pick a default auto level, and every instance after it will keep that memory)
NIcolas, here in my monitoring system the tonal enhancement is clear, it's not about volume. However no magic evolved, just regular multiband compression with simple and objective interface, i think this plugin's approach is a few clicks for fast every-day treatment.
It turns out that the Punch parameter corresponds to the attack parameter on the compressor. And the input and output signal levels are identical with this regulator on the LA 2A compressor?
wasn't feeling it on the drum bus, i could hear the mix between the direct and the wet too much, sounded too offset. looks like it works well on the spot mics... but those stems do sound pretty sweet on their own before hand though?
@Josh Thompson He said he feels bad that they have to do that. He didn't say they didn't. As a T-Shirt printer I have to print some TERRIBLE artwork some times... I do it, but don't think I don't think it's terrible while I do it. Same thing... his comment can still exist and so can yours... his is actually just saying the same thing yours is.
I'm a long-time Vitamin owner/user. And appreciate it as a tone shaper and width-controller. But I truly can't hear much difference if I push all bands up and set the Punch to 0. A/B-ing (when level-matched) is almost indistinguishable, despite knowing what to listen for (harmonics). Any input on that, Waves? I'm very curious.
This tool really isn't redundant like some people might think. It really does add some things easier and quicker than what would otherwise take several plugins to achieve. But what I think hurt Waves in selling this thing is the ad for it all out cheese ball as fuck. And I'm sorry but this dude is not demoing things right. I get the exaggeration but damn man it doesn't make me think of the possibilities. It makes me think "does this guy really just throw shit up everywhere to excite the spectrum to achieve what can make others think this sounds good?" No man not everyone is a giddy start up mixing engineer that hears crap and buys it.
your input gain is to high. Also if you add some processing, your output will hit red everytime. So be kind with input gain. Maybe a better aproach is to lower your input signal, not output. Because if the output is red means the summing process is already burn. Make sense ?!
Not particularly impressed with this one- yet my buddy raves about it. Just seems there are already ways to achieve these sorts of results easily enough with existing conventional plug-ins. Maybe it's just me? Quite possible.
What is the best way to do this when mixing?? Just see what the db reaches with the plugin on then turn up the gain when the plugin is bypassed to match it?
@@inlovingmemoryofdouglasmul5216 Yes. Use your ears and your eyes. It doesn't have to be exactly the same volume, but close enough. One of the points of volume matching plugins, is so you aren't tricked into thinking a plugin makes your tracks sound better, just because it's louder. The second reason, is to maintain the overall headroom of your system, so you can achieve the loudest mixes possible.
I think this sounds phasy. I used this plugin for years, but i went away from it because of the audible phasing issues. This sounds much like if you use paralell compressor at the behringer xr18. In other words, the vitamin plugin ads audible latency between the dry and processed signal. Too bad, cause i like how the affected bands sound. To me there are some cons that make me choose other plugins from other brands. (1) The audible latency and (2) the waves update plan.
+11thdimensionoffical but better, you can only adjust the stereo image with izotope imager, with this you can change the balance and tone of the instrument along with the stereo imager
waves has been desperate with its pricing, this is on sale for 100$. still cant afford it though lol. analog what the pros use virtual is for the average joe. I think these developers just get some producers to indorse but probably never actually use the plugins, except maybe in demos or tutorials. Thats just my op-onion
today hardware is becoming less expensive than plug ins, what is cool, cause we are less dependent of updating software to finish by updating the computer cause the devise can´t handle the software updates
So a random guy on TH-cam thinks he knows better than one of the world's more respected mastering engineers who's been in the industry since the 80's. Sure, makes perfect sense.
what are you listening through? There's worlds of difference. Tons of harmonic content added, definition and stereo imagery. This is one of my favourite plug-ins to add some magic to tracks.
It has become my go-to tool for background vocal busses. I had long gone to the 1073 for adding cut-through sizzle. The Vitamin allows for a little more control over subtle differences that can occur in vocal performances.
One of my all time favorite plugs. Magical and versatile. Actually would be my desert island plug. Great job Waves.
a very useful video. Learnt a lot. thanks
Might be the best plug-in Waves has ever made. Really fast and magical tool!
once again Yoad another great tutorial you're a great teacher.
My main go to plug in love it!!
honestly, I'm checking this out because I saw a guy do a youtube series on a range of plugins that would help him "replace" this one. I'm like, damn, that plugin must be good if he has to search so far and wide to find a combo that would replace it...
That acoustic sound was nice.
Sweet sounding Acoustic Guitar! Amazing.
THX Yoad!! BTW: The song in "Lead Vocals" must be a cover of "Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag" hehe, listen to the melody ;)
great piece of kit!
why does he press the clip all the time, its not like it does anything, just makes it go away.
Ron Cohen Resets the counter.
Lmaooooo wow
They said upgrade this plugin so it keeps the output at the default level you choose (edit: you pick a default auto level, and every instance after it will keep that memory)
The active sound is louder than the bypassed so its not a fair comparison.
Always the same thing with big products and big names :)
its also not in the context of a mix but i can see its probably going to be very useful for most people.
Yes it looks like a useful tool.
thats why it has an input and an output... to be used my friend
NIcolas, here in my monitoring system the tonal enhancement is clear, it's not about volume. However no magic evolved, just regular multiband compression with simple and objective interface, i think this plugin's approach is a few clicks for fast every-day treatment.
I use it on my pre-master bus and it opens everything up. It's like removing the blanket off.
It turns out that the Punch parameter corresponds to the attack parameter on the compressor. And the input and output signal levels are identical with this regulator on the LA 2A compressor?
Super great video!
How is this a fair comparison if the levels are not the same? I can just make the drumkit louder and its better too
He changes the output gain to match when he hears the difference. It's a live video.
No he doesn't
The output is always cliping on the out
He level matched most of the time,i could here the difference other than just louder anyway.
Ummm you do know that you don't have to level match every single track after processing right?
@@225maine right
How is this either a Compressor or a saturator beside when its clipping? I'm so lost
So it's an eq but with volumes for each band? Can't you do that in most eqs? What's the difference
Should I use this in the mastering bus channel chain ?
Whats the difference between this Sonic Enhancer and Waves C6?
hey Yoad Nevo!!! i'm a fan!!!
Awesome tutorial
That talking over the vocals did my head in lol
Best Plugin!!!👍🏼
Finally something like this! :)
great tips, thanks for sharing.
Wow this is interesting. Thanks for the tutorial. So many good plugin I’m getting dizzy 😂
guyz i need help..i cant find vitamin enhacer on wave... my DAW is cubase
Very useful, thanks.
wasn't feeling it on the drum bus, i could hear the mix between the direct and the wet too much, sounded too offset. looks like it works well on the spot mics... but those stems do sound pretty sweet on their own before hand though?
I wish I could have an internship with this guy!
+Carlos Ramirez i bet you would ;)
Same
Same here
08:13 the overheads high enhancemend sounded like a lot phasing issues are created by pushing it...
Sounds more like high frequencies processed by TH-cam.
Can you guys make the plugins work with obs
I feel sorry for these world class engineers having to work on some of the worst songs i'e ever heard
EVERYONE PRAY FOR PEACE TO FOLLOW
Haha
They're not the worst, they are what mixing engineers are into.
I'd be more concerned with the fact that they just shill for these plug-ins that they probably NEVER use in real mixes. So sad. :(
Thank you.
I'm a long-time Vitamin owner/user. And appreciate it as a tone shaper and width-controller. But I truly can't hear much difference if I push all bands up and set the Punch to 0. A/B-ing (when level-matched) is almost indistinguishable, despite knowing what to listen for (harmonics).

is this mainly used for drums? what are you guys using it for?
nevermind... he just got to the bass section.

I can see myself getting into lots of trouble with this 😁
John Jones Haha. Yes. This is like the expensive version of Soundgoodizer.
This plug in will get me into a lot of trouble
Is this in parallel
Good tool!
how come i dot have the width control on mines???????
If you're in protools - when you select your plugin, click on multi-channel plugins, instead of multi-mono. I had the same issue, I hope this helps!
@@WhoIsJamesBougatti thanks!!
For sure brother NP!! @@etondabeat3528
This is nothing but the fruity maximus which is one of my favorite plugins ever
what kinda vitamins has Yoad Nevo been taking
Thx
How about adding some "vitamin" to the guy's voice?
Good.It is easy to get low latency and kill the EQ
your input gain is to high. Also if you add some processing, your output will hit red everytime. So be kind with input gain. Maybe a better aproach is to lower your input signal, not output. Because if the output is red means the summing process is already burn. Make sense ?!
Vitamin C i guess i never thought about it now i think day and night
Not particularly impressed with this one- yet my buddy raves about it.

Vic Demise I was thinking the same damn thing. Just didn't want to be the only one
dude... volume match your bypassed and active examples... smh
What is the best way to do this when mixing?? Just see what the db reaches with the plugin on then turn up the gain when the plugin is bypassed to match it?
Always been a little confused by make up gain and gain reduction and how to tell exactly. Any info would be greatly appreciated

He is clipping isnt that bad?
+Antonio Zaza if youre using a daw with 32 bit floating processing it doesnt make a difference.. you can adjust your levels post effect...
+Tyler Hinkelman exactly
+O J unless you in protools then clipping can only be preventing from the input
although, it may be a problem feeding an output so hot into a vst that isn't purposed for that specific incoming level

I agree with you. It sounds phasy and very unnatural. I don't like it at all.
i think they updated the plugin, this is from 9 years ago, i was using the plugin today on my drum bus and it didn't sound phasey at all.
What is the name of that recording program
program
Protools
Super
this plugin is very similar to izotopes stereo imager
+11thdimensionoffical but better, you can only adjust the stereo image with izotope imager, with this you can change the balance and tone of the instrument along with the stereo imager
13:30 you lost me.
hahahaha thought the same
dude looks ripped
Mr. Yoad looks so exhausted in the videos.
Suheti Lee Too much coke, man.
+Nat Funk It's called "working hard".
why not turn down the master out of the sound and using the fader in the actual session to get more "loudness"? maybe a beginner ;-)
seems like an Eq
The output is always cliping on the out
Yoad - what a LOW energy
He refers to energy as intention of playing not loudness.
Useless. The problem is not the plugins ,the problem is the shitty music that is produced everyday. Two decades ago these plugins would have been great.
+Geo Vag wat?
hahahahaaha
I swear, people were saying exactly the same thing 20 years ago.
can't watch. completely bored

I would pay 100$ just for the C4.Actually, I did...))) But that's my opinion.
He looks like being pissed off with this plugin.
Just make it support 192khz and we golden.
uhm ...
Lol this guy doesn't know that the trim button is above the red light. He's clipping constantly. Sick plugin though.
Rob Domos you don't know that the red light only indicates level above 0dbfs. Nothing is clipping here because of the 32bit float environment
