- For various reasons, modern man has doubted the Star of Bethlehem, calling it a legend and folklore. As usual, the occult has adopted it. In any case, some sincere and misguided folk, using high power computers, have attempted to prove scientifically the star’s existence, showing how it was really a natural concurrence and retrograde motions of planets along with things like lining up with stars. Whether intended or not, this is an attack on the Scriptures and Tradition. Please do not misunderstand. I am not saying this phenomena of nature did not happen… I am saying the REAL STAR of Bethlehem was miraculous, something supernatural, causing wonder and awe!

@@kathyern861 thank you, l but in my message I never mentioned anything about the Magi being lead by the Star. I was reflecting on each one of us. The Star of David will Lead us to the Our Lord Jesus.
@@kathyern861 Matthew 2:9 is the ninth verse of the second chapter of the Gospel of Matthew in the New Testament. King Herod has dispatched the magi to Bethlehem to find the infant Jesus. In this verse they follow the Star of Bethlehem to find the infant.

I agree that the Star of Bethlehem was a one time thing, so miraculous for the Second Person of the Holy Trinity’s birth. It will never ever be repeated.

The retrograde documentary actually helped lead me back to a solid Christian faith, and came at a time when I needed it the most - like an answer to prayer. However, I now agree with this Priest, and see that it must have been entirely miraculous. I was not aware of what the Church Fathers said about it. I still think the retrograde documentary shows that God had designed within the celestial realm a way of telling the story of what was happening - but that it was separate from the actual Christmas Star. Even though I am grateful to the documentary still. I actually prefer it as a miracle. It brings back a greater childlike wonder within me. Now that I have a more solid Catholic faith, I don't really need some scientific explanation of the Xmas Star.
Iam 65 yrs old I have been a Catholic all my life I always heard that the end of age will be marked by a complete aligning of the planets and the and the Bethlehem star will be seen by all the people then Jesus Christ will bring a new reign of God that happens at the end of this year

Thank you for this sermon. I am rather surprised by what this priest said. I didn't hear that from anyone else, so it was rather intriguing to listen.
This video was interrupted three times with commercials-very tedious to watch. Other sermons might have ads at the start but never in the middle
That is not the fault of the authors. That is due to your choice. If you chose to use the the basic TH-cam without paying for the premium service. TH-cam slots the ads in. They are interrupting more and more like this in the hope that you get fed up and subscribe to the premium, ad free service.

Another effect of this search for the Star, is a further attack against the traditional dating of Christmas. The guy who said he figured it out, a Protestant, believed it was in spring.
God’s Providence can indeed work through natural phenomena and the confluence of events to send a message to those who have eyes to see.
God can also work wonders and miracles beyond the normal natural processes to send a glaring message.
The Star of Bethlehem is squarely in the latter category.

The dvd I believe you are referring to does say the star was miraculous.
so many Catholic's now days have little faith if any at all . I have had a Priest say things about Jesus feeding the 5 thousand , that because Jesus shared it made other people share , he looked at me and I was shaking my head NO , so he changed his homily . I now go to a Latin Mass we do so Love it !

If you watched Rick Larson's version of the Bethlehem star, you'd change your mind. What he discovers is verified in old and new testament scripture passages. When he explains that through retrograde motion, Jupiter (the King planet) circles Regulus (the King Star) of the constellation Leo, the lion, that is the symbol of Judea (the tribe from which the Messiah would come) things start becoming interesting. That's only part of this extensive riddle he unravels. When you do understand what God did in the sky to signal the arrival of his Son, you will be speechless for sure!

Thank you Father. Didn't St Augustine teach that Light in the beginning, the first day of creation, was the creation of angels? Did this good priest say the star seemed rational? The Star was light, it either was or hid those angels sent to Glory in God the Highest - is it possible that these same angels of light, whether as or with the Star, were the ones that appeared to the Shepherds?

I agree with the movie, and I don't see it as an attack, but an affirmation of scripture. However, that being said, I also believe they have grossly misinterpreted two major events in the movie.
The first is the interpretation of the heavenly display in September. If you also compare this event with other scripture about Zechariah, when the events are added up from the time he would have been in the temple offering his prayers and incense at the end of September, and was visited by the angel, to the months up until the birth of Jesus, ends around December 25th, which is when the Star stayed over Bethlehem.
So that leads us to ask what event could have happened in September that signified the Virgin planet's appearance. We celebrate the Blessed Mother's birthday on September 8th. I propose that this birthday was when she became of age to become betrothed to St. Joseph!
Then what could be the events in June when the bright Star of Bethlehem appeared. This could also explained by the other scripture when Mary returned from her cousin's home. St. Joseph was going to divorce her quietly because she was with child until he had a dream in which it was explained to him the origin of her child. That's when he accepted her into his home. He being a direct descendant of King David, accepted the role of father to the Messiah.
According to the movie, the star rested over Bethlehem right on December 25th. That is six months after Mary was taken into Joseph's home when she was in her third month of pregnancy.
All of this is
collaborated with scripture, and the ancient teaching of the Catholic Church.
I'm certain the movie misinterpreted these signs.
I'm sorry I got ahead of my thoughts trying to explain my ideas. I hope I've explained myself well enough to give a general idea of what I was trying to convey.
Also, many of the celestial signs mentioned in this movie is also tied to the celestial image on the mantle Mary is wearing in the Miraculous Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Faith is given by the creator God for the chosen/merited/saints for eternal life, whereas God the Father enable scientific theories for sinners and saints alike for their temporal needs and meant only to last for a few generations.

A best way to understand of anything and particularly of visible universe is that what we see is what we are allowed (by God) to observe. So in temporal life we normally see what we see. God let some to see heaven by ‘lifting the veil of firmament’, so that men can strive to end up in heaven at least upon their death.

The 'Star of Bethlehem' was not an astronomical or cosmological event. Joseph (Jesus' father) formed an alliance with Theudas, the Chief Therapeut. The 2 in warrior mode gave themselves titles drawn from an OT verse. Joseph was the 'Star' (of David) and Theudas was the 'Scepter'. The West Manassah Magi were a priestly caste of Samaritan philosophers founded in 44BC by Menahem and later led by Simon Zelotes. The Magians were Joseph's political associates. When they 'followed the star' they were agreeing with Joseph that a new Davidic king (Jesus) had been born. Because they recognized him as king, they were accepting him as legitimate. The Magi came to hail Jesus as a new member of the David dynasty to work with them in mission.

The problem with this channel is that they don't focus enough on what they're talking about but rather they're too busy talking about what's wrong with everything else. I'd rather hear the information about the Star of Bethlehem then hear about why scientists are wrong and violating the scriptures

Ignorance. God said in Genesis that the stars would be signs of times and seasons. It doesn't say phenomena would be the signs There's no historical record, in scripture or out of scripture that this was a one time phenomena.
