Problems with the External HDD may not be from the hub. There are reported problems with that feature even without an additional accessory. Something to keep in mind if you're looking into upgrading like this.
Consoles are just bad limited computers, which isn't even going into the fact that certain consoles don't have any good justifiable game exclusives, PlayStation. whereas Xbox has old halo games and Nintendo has an absolute shit load of games, although Xbox's halo is slowly transferring to PC making even Xbox irrelevant. at this point the only console worst dropping a dime over is Nintendo, which is funny considering it used to be a joke console for kids. Some will argue playStation exclusives are worth it but it's honestly not, PC is undeniably better at every turn.

I think that it's nice that you can plug in an external HDD to get more storage, but IMO that's a very temporary solution. It works in a pinch, but long term I'd like to not have a separate box. I really wish it were easier to expand the internal storage of the Xbox One.
MrEagle . Most external harddrives are meant for backups or people who don't know how to replace an internal one. In this case, however, I don't believe that the PS4 Pro will recognize an internal drive larger than 2TB.

PJnintendo actually it is pretty easy to change that backplate, so he could replace it with an aluminium backplate with a small hole which could improve a lot the dissipation. Plus he could change the thermal paste and improve with some fans and other things the dock
