Ive got a open to public 60x60 rallycross track in oregon. I have rentals and drivers stand and all the amenities. I run a xv01 long damper spec. Sensored 13.5t 4pole and 120amp esc is best motor for this chassis. Come join us for a run sometime and give me a good run

Look forward to seeing it built back up and running just got one of these and building some tracks having trouble with mine suddenly spinning out in a drift think it's diffing out on front so back overtakes? 🤔 Not sure

It’s front engine and 4wd so is tail happy by nature. Less lock up on the rear diff will reduce tendencies to oversteer. A lighter oil in the diff or just a powdered graphite for lubricant should help.

After a bit more study into my own donuting issues, as well as blowing out gears.. I'm going with steel gear diffs in both ends, very light oil in both, and switching from aluminium wheels to plastic beadlocks. Any power added kind of needs a weight reduction or breakage increases. I'll be making a video this neext week about it.

If you have the direct drive or spool anywhere in the car front or back it will spin on loose surfaces and eat transmission gears. The front one way clutch does the same. It’s horrible and disappointing but the solution is installing the steel gear diff units in both diffs and stay above 13.5 turns on the motor. Otherwise the internal transmission gears will strip.

XV-01 is a great platform, yes a few issues but for me Tamiya hit a home run. I'm building number 2 and 3 at the moment, i loved my first xv (sold to a friend) personally think its the best Tamiya kit in decades, there is something special about that handling, think 17.5T is perfect, xv's become unreliable with to much power, also lose that scale appearance, almost need a scale rally class all of there own. anyway good content Dr Handpump, looking fwd to more xv content, subscribed. cheers and best wishes Fu.

Love this chassis, so much I'm in for 1500 at the moment lol. Moving to a 15.5 tamiya motor as the Castle is too much. It was best for me in stock trim with a Tamiya 16 turn. Thanks for the subscribe!

@@dr.handpumpstvtime9932 lol 1500, we have a house rule, when it comes to hobbies "everything costs a fiver" coz you cannot put a cost on a good healthy hobby. My new rally build is gonna be a scaler (Lancia Delta Intergrale), I've just finished working on cutting/melting/shaping a old DVD case into "T" shape to attach rear chassis for mud flaps to attach for multiple bodyshells, have made square "S" shape pieces that attach to front wheel arch covers for the front mud flaps, will be using the 10mm Insulation draft excluding foam to stick to sides of chassis to pad her out to the sides of the body (1 to stop dirt, 2 to stop body flex and look better) and extend the current wheel arch covers, will be Shoe goo and dry lining tape the body, which has Tamiya interior cockpit, styrene 5mm tubing roll cage, windscreen wipers, exhaust and aerials. I've gone this route as i agree with you this is a future classic, personally think this is the best Tamiya on/off road chassis, and I've had a few since my Tamiya Lancia Rallye in 1983, as for chassis mods, I've gone with metal geared Diffs, alloy diff covers, Shimmed my middle shafts to protect the Ider gears, XV01T (grey) softer wishbones as they flex a little and less prone to breaking , long damper carbon towers and CF-01 alloy shocks? (Tamiya blue and silver) titanium bolt kit, sway bars, and finally those alloy suspension parts. As for motor i won't be going to hot this one is more for nostalgia, with all the talk of modelers returning during lockdowns i hope we might see an interest in RC rallying racing take off. Cheers and best wishes Fu.

@@MrFu75 should absolutely be a rally class for more scale and less bash lol The TA-02 chassis is another legend in that area. Between the two chassis' you can get the handling differences of the real cars. The XV drives like the Delta did because its layout is front engine AWD, the TA02 is more mid engined and from my experience, my 037 Lancia looks and acts the same as the real deal even being 4wd instead of rear. Rally class should be a thing, check my earlier vids to see my track, more tracks might mean more rally!! Thanks for the shouts and I LOVE the description of your scaler, sounds epic to drive, all the extra detail should make it even better.
