Been listening to Kelly for a while now that is the CDs that I have. Have not heard this song till now. This song has an organic, earthy feel just like the rest of his music. This guy is the real deal!
I saw a couple of guys in my home town exeter play an amazing set of kjp songs al worked out by ear at the turf locks. this guy is not easy to immitate. Fantastic guitarist. Come back to Exeter!
Used to see him every Sunday at Cafe Lena for free. I had to beg my friends to come, "Kelly Joe who??" Now, it's once every 5 years and its $20. Well, he still has the same effect as when I first heard him in 1994 at the Break & Ink Cafe on Hawthorne.
Me too, and also at Saturday Market and "Kelly's Olympian" downtown, where he would play in a crowded little bar. KJP has amazing talent, and he is one of a kind... Timeless music from deep inside his soul.
This is sooo nice. Does anyone know which tuning he's using here? My first guess is open D with capo on fifth, but I'm not sure bout that. I really love all the alternate tunings he's using for his music.
It's a sunrise magnetic, I've heard/seen him use a seymour duncan magmic too, he has a very light touch and plays with his fingers, not nails adding to that roundness in tone.
joe, man, come to bahia to play with me. my name is just luis daltro. i´ve seen one of his concerts when i lived in berkeley, come to brazil, dude, yes, just do it. we here love your f. musik. we have great virtuosis here. muita vida r avida
I don't think the pickup matters, it's not that special a sound for an acoustic, he's just playin' it sweet. Most of the problem with live acoustic guitar is that some sound guys don't know how to mix 'em, there's a definite art/skill to it...

Yeah I went & saw KJ at McCabe's in Santa Monica: less than 200 (?) people. Later that weekend U2 filled the Rose Bowl. I don't get it.
Hey Rupert. What are you guys known as collectively I've been trying to remember. That way I know how to look out for you.
