- The Colorado Avalanche crossed the ocean and made a signing Thursday when they inked Jere Innala from Finland. Innala is likely headed to play with the Colorado Eagles and if nothing else gives the Avalanche a player if / when he is needed.
The Avs also parted ways with their director of amateur scouting, Wade Klippenstein. A little odd with the draft so close? And will it have any impact come draft day? We will see.
We also give Nathan MacKinnon his season grade (spoiler: it's good), and we give our opinions on the temporary Utah Hockey Club uniforms which so many people seem to hate. But do we?

Stars Fan Here: I think McDavid is amazing. The stuff he does is unreal. BUT, MacKinnon I like more. I also think there's a real argument on who's better between to two. I know my team lost to Edmonton and beat Colorado. I feel the Stars ran out of gas and were playing higher level hockey against VGK & The Avs. That said, when MacKinnon hits the ice, I gotta hold my breath. The dude is that guy.
Also, I like Mac's attitude better than McDavids. Just a personnel side note. Good luck in the offseason Avs! Kinda wonder what it would have been like if one of our teams advanced instead of the Oilers. Maybe we dodged a bullet.
Chris is exactly right, these will be relics, collectors items one day.
Kyle just doesn't understand that it costs money to devote a lot of time on designing these things. As a designer, this is a budget play by Utah in my opinion. And they'll bank on the new jersey in a year like Chris said.
I don't know if Innala can make the 2nd line but if he can, it would be fun to see an all-Finn line 🇫🇮

Those Utah jerseys define "plain". Shaggy's right. Surprised they didn't use the font seen on generic products. Maybe have a UPC stamped on them.
Maybe this Finn kid will be the next Wyatt Johnson. Okay - I can dream.
The Avs employ Aric Parnass, noted analytics guru similar to Eric Tulsky. Plus a couple Data Analysts under him. Avs will be fine w/o Cap Friendly.

Nathan Mackinnon Grade:
A-
I know I'm in the minority with the minus, and that is only because I did not see the fight as we have seen in past years. Yes he had an AMAZING run, a shining moments. But there were a few games he was noticeably absent. Mackinnon deserves all of the accolades he has received and he better win the Hart. But if we are truly honest, he did not perform to his usual standards.
Still a good year. Just not top shelf.

The hate for the Utah HC jerseys makes no sense. As a huge Avs fan for over 20 years and living in Utah, I absolutely love the jerseys. Plus, this was always the plan, for it to be basic and just say UTAH on the front. I was expecting just a solid color with UTAH on the front, which Kyle things would be better for some reason, so these far exceeded my expectations. Lastly, if they did something more for season 1, they risk people liking it more than the final jerseys in season 2.
once the season starts, nobody will care about the jerseys. Personally, I like the diagonal lettering style & this sets up alternates once the full Yeti design is released. It gives them more time to get a great primary kit & also engages the fans like never before. I like the strategy from a Sales standpoint
The great thing about Innala is he's WAIVER EXEMPT via ELC! No risk in losing him to PHI & seeing him leave NA like Sedlak. He'll start in Loveland & get an early callup IMO.
If we're going to be honest, Mac's performance in the faceoff dot would be F minus. Otherwise, he's all-worldly.

Utah is said to be keeping the colors still haven't heard if the Jerseys are staying and just slapping the logo on it or changing the Jerseys completely . the Golden Knights where at first going to be the Black Knights then shorten to Knights a team in another league said no i think the Black Knight had to do with some kind of Arm forces and even with Golden Knight there was some push back at first . i do think the name maybe already picked and they are doing there home work and see if any leagues or other places will give them push back for the name they picked . hence not picking the name or having the logos for a year i am fine with that and i dont mine the Jerseys but going to wait to see them on the Ice to judge them and they are only for one season maybe .
Black Knights is West Point's team name. That's where the push back with Vegas came from.

I don't get the hate for Utah's one season only jersey. It's about as basic as the Rangers' or when Pitt used diagonal lettering. They couldn't risk crushing it out the gate then pooping the bed with the real thing later on. It looks professional enough for this upcoming season.

@@tophercabba 🤣 Dude- the “season” is an illusion & largely consists of playing marginal teams ( out of playoff contention) with mediocre talent, lots of PP’s, and 85-90% effort most nights. The “real “ season is the playoffs and what you do there- the ice shrinks, the intensity soars, and refs let more go.
