    Is Ruto Kenya's FDR.
Assuming the Presidency at the depth of the Great Depression, FDR helped the American people regain faith in the economy. He felt that govt intervention programs were needed to restore confidence in economic recovery and faith in people's lives. FDR did not institute austerity measures during these hard economic times as would have been the conventional thing to do, instead he unleashed the govts muscle by going all out on instituting programs, policies, legislative interventions targeted to all from the rich to the poor. These initiatives were popularly known as "The New Deal."
Similarly, soon after his swearing in, Ruto's first immediate act towards restoring faith in people's lives was to intervene in the removal from the Credit Rating Bureau of 4 million blacklisted loan defaulters who could now breathe a sigh of relief by reinstating their credit worthiness and participate in the economy.
Subsequently, other govt interventions followed, The Hustler Fund, Housing Fund, Investments in Agriculture (irrigation, 1000 Dams), manufacturing (County Aggregation Centers) , emphasis on Savings, planting of 15b trees; these Govt interventions are deliberately targeted towards the majority of Kenyans which mirror that of FDR.
A Close look at FDR's "The Great New Deal" vs Rutonomics you will see similarities in govt intervention tools used to restore the economy and people's faith in the economy in the shortest time possible but also have long term impacts.
For example, The Housing fund and Environmental recovery (planting 15b trees) both have short term and long-term impacts.
The short-term impacts of both housing fund and environmental restoration is to create jobs at the fastest time possible. Building thousands of houses and planting billions of trees will require a huge labor pool in all corners of the country plus the supporting services and industries these two activities will bring.
FDR created similar Housing and environmental programs.
    On housing
The New Deal legislation reflected the government’s recognition of adequate housing as an important societal need. FDR’s hope, that the law would also spur employment in the construction industry. He also hoped that the law would address the housing needs of the poor, including many African Americans living in slums. Facing strong resistance from some members of congress, FDR lent his full support to the Housing Act Led by senators Wagner’s efforts to make adequate and affordable housing a priority in his second term.
In his State of the Union Message of 1937 FDR spoke to congress:
“There are far-reaching problems still with us for which democracy must find solutions if it is to consider itself successful. For example, many millions of Americans still live in habitations which not only fail to provide the physical benefits of modern civilization but breed disease and impair the health of future generations. The menace exists not only in the slum areas of the very large cities, but in many smaller cities as well. I see one-third of a nation ill-housed, ill-clad, ill-nourished. . . . The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”
To Franklin Roosevelt, adequate housing was not just a need, but a right; that included the right of every family to a decent home.
Similarly, the Ruto housing Fund which is designed as a collective responsibility is meant to reduce the growth of slums by making housing affordable and making citizens live in dignity by asking those with abundance or means to assist in providing those who have little or nothing. Also, decent housing for all Kenyan citizens is a right envisaged in the Kenya constitution. So this Housing Fund goes a long way in curing this constitutional provision for decent housing for all and not just a provision on paper.
    On the Environment
FDR created the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC).
CCC focused on environmental conservation work. Thousands of Unemployed and unskilled youth planted two billion trees, constructed 13,000 miles of hiking trails, developed 800 new state parks, and slowed soil erosion on forty million acres of farmland. FDR's objective with CCC was mainly to create jobs for youth, unemployed and unskilled workers at an instant and today these areas are major tourist attractions. Many participants became deeply concerned about the preservation of nature, helping to create a new working-class constituency for environmental politics. Farmers became more aware of the effects of soil erosion and turned to best farming practices.
FDR long term goals with CCC besides creating jobs was meant to restore Americas parks, forests and natural cover for future generations which today are historical, recreational and tourists' sites visited by millions of Americans every year.
Similarly, Rutos plan to plant 15b trees is meant not only to create jobs but to restore degraded environments for long term environmental sustainability for future generations. By engaging all citizens to be the custodians of protecting, nurturing and creating more green spaces to mitigate the effects of climate change.
    On Food security
FDR's government created "The food Security ACT" FSA" It constructed monumental dams that controlled floods, helped irrigate crops and generated electricity.
Like wise, the Ruto govt envisaged the building of 1000 dams not only meant to create jobs but to capture water for irrigation meant to help farmers produce food sustainably even during drought which will enhance the nation's overall food security.
    Safety Net
FDR signed the Social Security Bill into law on August 14, 1935, only 14 months after sending a special message to Congress on June 8, 1934, that promised a plan for social insurance as a safeguard "against the hazards and vicissitudes of life." The Social Security fund, a social safety net funded by Employers and employees each paying 6.2 percent of wages ; every eomployer and working person contributed via deduction of wages to meet uncertainties brought on by unemployment, illness, disability, death and old age.
In the same breath, In his many speeches Ruto has constantly encouraged and emphasized to Kenyans on the importance of savings. In a clever way, Ruto embedded savings by way of deductions from the Hustler fund and Housing Fund deposits; these are mandatory savings meant to create an instant culture of savings by creating a social safety net to be tapped during times of hardship and also as a long-term goal of less external borrowing which leads to expensive debt servicing with flight of debt capital leaving the country.
Thus, it can be said that the Ruto govt, has deliberately used the powers and might of the govt to intervene by way of programs, policy and legislative interventions meant to cure short and long term social economic hardships facing the country similar to that of FDR.

I'm afraid you are very wrong. I've had the pleasure of reading the new deal and many other economic recovery strategies across the world. And write papers on them, both historical and economic papers. The truth is and every brilliant economist agrees including oweiss, that what actually help revive USA was the world war. Sounds funny and curious but that's the case. The impact of measures taken by Roosevelt and the fireplace talks he had have been termed as negligible. Well, I won't go into refuting your argument, in fact I appreciate that there is a Kenya who would labor this much to bring such an intuitive discussion. That said, I ask you to consider also what difficulty was the new deal overcoming; it was the great depression. You I assume knows what other measures taken during that time were.
Of course I've not even addressed your paper which is comparing the two; now ruto is not anything close and while there are agendas here and there that look strikingly similar, it's the usual agenda in every political manifesto because they are solutions to human problems which are universal and thus the universality of the measures which then deludes you into believing they are similar. The major way to tell how that they are not in any way similar is to understand where the money in each case is meant to flow. In rutonomics as you so brilliantly calls it, the govt is seeking first to fill it's coffers, to revive itself following the "broke government" they inherited. In the new deal however, the government was looking for intuitive ways to put quick money in people's pockets following the great depression. This renders ruto almost oblivious of the new deal in his rutonomics.
I challenge you however to study Singapore's economic agenda, and you'll see how it contrasts with rutonomics. While doing so keep in mind building dams, roads, electricity, education and such are human needs and suffice in all economic plans. It's misleading to take those and allude similarity. To finish of, since you are brilliant I'd like to bring to your attention that there are two things that all economies shake of before moving a foot towards progress. First is corruption, and second is political tolerance. Ruto hasn't addressed that and doesn't look like he will anytime soon. So even the Singapore one while being so close does not critically compare.
My opinion is that rutonomics are ingenious and autonomous measures, taking little precedent from any other economic blueprints. Whose aim I discern is to sustain his government by one, ensuring it is not defaulting it dues both to citizens and lenders. Second, by ensuring it remains politically relevant, which is improbable without enough in their coffers.
