I am from the area and very much excited about this legacy project! This country keeps giving us opportunities to make it a better place for all.

This bridge is amazing. SANRAL can cross valleys to nowhere with 10 billion Rand. How much will it cost to build amazing brodges over the potholes on the non tolled roads?

I sincerly hope that the next project will be an extension to the wild coast N2 , will be from Port St John's via coffee bay on to East London . This would also reduce travelling time between KZN - East London

I doubt we'll see that in our life time.
I was ecstatic over 10 years ago when I first heard about this project, which was initiated in 1997.
I thought it would be constructed along our beautiful coastline to shorten the distance between Dbn and EL. To my surprise, it just goes back to Mthatha. I really can't understand it's purpose.

Modern thinking is to have roundabouts, instead of traffic lights. A roundabout keeps vehicles moving saving fuel. Roundabouts works even in load shedding. Roundabouts can not reset to some stupid factory setting. Roundabouts have very low maintenance. Roundabouts does not gets looted and vandalized like African traffic lights. If a drunk driver charges through a roundabout, the damage is usually far less than a drunk driver charging through a red light. Roundabouts is an automatic traffic calming item. Accidents at roundabouts usually happens at a much slower speed. Illegal street racing can not happen on a road with roundabouts. My question is, how many years before the Sanral engineers adapt to modern thinking?

I think this is more applicable to municipal and provincial roads since SANRAL is responsible for national roads

@@koenawamokone1445 National roads, as in trunk roads, are indeed the responsibility of SANRAL. But smaller SANRAL roads like the R44 can also benefit from roundabouts.

Depends on where the intersection is, sometimes traffic lights are better but roundabouts should definitely be built more

Yes we agree you create the jobs in estern cape but the problem you are not coming if we call you as a communities and your PLC structures are selling job to the people coming out of our communities that the projects is happening,,,,, we are not happy with Sandral because they are not care about people in communities the are care about business people
