- Hi everybody. Before getting into the EVE Protocol, I wanted to give you a heads up. For weeks now, I’ve been trying to piece together what the protocol really was. Since the definition of a protocol states it is a system or a procedure with steps to follow, I wanted to really break everything down. I think I got it, but I wanted to let you know that 1 piece of information I found really holds everything together - the item description from the Beta Core. The Beta Core’s function plays an important role, which I’ll get to in this video. I did take a couple of small liberties to flesh things out, but as usual, I tried to back everything up with evidence. I hope you enjoy this one.
This video is a discussion of the EVE Protocol and what it means to me presented in a detailed recount of the history and events that play out in the Stellar Blade Universe.

Just want to echo what others are saying. The way you showcase the lore of this game really just elevates the discussion.
For all the drama, this was a game with rich lore, great gameplay, and top tier graphics.
Everyone discounts the lore/narrative, and you are doing it justice showing how wrong some people are.

Also, Shift Up did a lot for this game's look considering it was in Unreal 4. Here's to hoping we get more games (sequels) that could be developed in Unreal 5. That would make the graphical fidelity truly amazing. Glad to have you here :)
Fascinating as always! The EVE Protocol was the one aspect of the story I really didn't understand or pick up on, but this makes a lot more sense of it.

Insightful video. Your comments about Raven and her motivations made me think of the Fallen Angel side quest. The one where you find an Angel from the 4th Airborne Squadron incapacitated, in agony, and hooked up to her drop pod in the cave. The data log tied to the quest indicated that her squad was betrayed by one of their own. I wasn't sure if it was another wayward Angel or Raven. Now I certain it had to be Raven. More over, I think the fact she wasn't simply killed but left immobilized an in an agonizing state indicates that she may have been the "Eve" of the 4th Airborne Squad. To leave her that way and not simply kill her indicates great malice. Naytibas have the malice but not the intelligence to leave her that way. So that leaves Raven.
All Raven needs is a hug.
That is a pretty cool theory!
It makes me wonder if this is why Eve left Raven in a similar state after their final battle. Or if this is what Raven was referring to when she said killing her wouldn't be her first. (I suppose that could refer to Tachy, or the naytibas in general, but I always found that to be an odd line.)

But what if in the future sequel Raven somehow managed to find a way to fixed or healed herself, probably with the help of someone... wouldn't it be bad for Eve and the people of Xion?

I enjoyed this explanation of the Eve Protocol. I believe that if Tachy had survived; she could have served as a solution to Raphael Mark's vision since her skills were similar to Eve's. Tacky could also served as a great hindrance to Adam's plans of obtaining another Angel as an alternative to the psycho-Raven.
Honestly this is really good lore and fan theory. Please keep it up. I know this is not going to happen but I do hope they bring back organic humans and make one on Eve's crew just to get interesting conversations between the 2 of them!
Really appreciate your comment. It's also quite motivating. I agree about an organic human being. That would make for exposition and the backfill of history to be explained. Maybe the Humanity Liberation Front "froze" some humans or put them in hypersleep and one of them awakens in a potential sequel.
Also, would be nice if we could get to have a full crew that EVE can converse with in a ship of her own (or keep the tetrapod - but it seems kinda small).
@@unlistednaytiba That would be great reminds me of Mass Effect 1 in that regard. I love how Eve has conversations with other people and sometimes reveals thinks like with Digger how she became sentient after a few minutes. I also have to ask, how do children work in Stellar Blade? Everyone is synthetic but have smaller children running around. Please keep it up.
I just finished the game and really impressed of the story. Besides the game play, how the story unfold was really get me hooked into this game. Very much appreciated your content. I finally finished the game and watch all your content and get deeper analysis of the story and lore. Keep up the good work. Sub your channel after discovering the Stellar Blade content.

It would be interesting to see the lore of the Nanosuits and Exospines, especially Tachy since her suit looks like an upgraded version of the 2nd diving suit.
About Raven i think it's the opposite instead her lack of agency regarding the truth is the reason of her mental collapse, and her complete devotion to Adam basically meant Raven never bothered to think or choose for herself until she was a naytiba and the choices she did make only brought harm to everyone and herself.
Agree with what you said about Raven. As far as the nanosuits go, I do wanna explore that. You can actually come across "Galaxy" Adam - the creator of some of the suits - in the great dessert - or maybe it's the wasteland. I kinda forget.
Some thing that I always thought after finishing Stellar Blade was that mothers sphere more or less knew what was going to happen.
in the sense that the future is constantly change and she will change her actions to better support humanity. Like she saw a future where the perfect fusion of organic life and inorganic life took place so for the sake of humanity so push them to the point where they will evolve and then when that came to Past she would play her part.
Because in the end this is for the betterment of organic humans.
Agree. One thing I liked is how Raphael Marks / Adam / The Elder Naytiba stated that she needs to be stopped. I hope Shift Up can get green lit for a sequel and we can explore stopping MS.

Hopefully there will be parts 2 and 3 of that great game! But the feet of Eve in her fused form resembling those of an animal and would be akward in the future. There is a great potential to get rid of Mothers Sphere…maybe with the help of a secret other artificial intelligence hiding in arctic ice or something like that. Since Mothers Sphere didn‘t know about Abyss Leviore and so on. 😄
I kinda hope that Mother Sphere is redeemable. I don't know who the enemy would be in that case, but she doesn't strike me as an "evil" character. A lot of her decisions are not really her fault, as she was programmed to carry them out.

@@GreatRaijin Based entirely on her programming and built-in logic. Biological humans didn't help, as they reacted erratically to Andro-Eidos...confirming Mother Sphere's suspicions.

I think a lot of people don't realize that when Adam says "Mother Sphere is going to do the same thing over and over again" he doesn't just mean in the current situation.
The reality is that IF Mother Sphere creates a new human being that she thinks is superior, she will go full kill-kill mode against the andro-eidos, just like she did with the original humans. And this whole discussion of whether naytibas or androids are considered human is useless, because they are all disposable to Mother Sphere. It's an endless cycle of her broken code: develop a superior human race, eliminate the previous one.
Totally agree. Also, if you notice in the Cost of Lost Memories ending, Mother Sphere says, "Perhaps strange new beings will emerge. And be hastened deeper into the unknown." I think she means even if new beings emerge, they may be considered to take mantle of "humankind" and she may do what you're saying to the current humankind if she deems them inferior to whatever emerges.
Thank you very much for your videos. I have enjoyed Stellar Blade for its combat and characters, I did not read all the many documents spread all over the world. Watching your videos, not only makes me understand and appreciate a lot more the story, but also gives me that depth in understanding what was happening to the characters (Eve and Raven) . People who criticize the game for having a swallow story, are not aware of how rich the story is. This is a great game...! Thank you so much!

This is actually so cool EVE and the story. Stellar blade really kicked the ass of those critics with their early assumptions lol. Nowadays its really hard to write a story as good as this let alone make a game as awesome out of that story.
Yea I did not see this story coming. I thought it was the typical AI sci-fi trope of: humans create robots and are mean to them, so they try to take over the world and revolt against humans.

I enjoyed your analysis about the English text on the suits.
As I looked at the suits when playing I generally just considered the kanji since they are very large and easier to see. The character on Raven's arm, 消, is often used for erase or delete in Japanese, but I believe the kanji in Stellar Blade are meant to represent Chinese since there are a few I do not recognize.
Our very own Mother Sphere (Chat GPT 4o) tells me that 消 can also mean eliminate or extinguish in Chinese.
I always saw this kanji to have the more Chinese meaning or as being short for 消滅, which means annihilation or extinction, and it represented that Raven was there to erase the naytibas. But after hearing your thoughts I wonder if perhaps this is meant to hint that Raven will need to/should be eliminated? Could indeed be a case of Mother Sphere attempting to predict the future for the angel as you proposed.
For Eve's leg, the large kanji characters 超光速 mean faster than the speed of light (or superluminal). When I lived in Japan I learned in that culture adding English words to something was often popular in entertainment and even government slogans, though the writers did not always fully understand what they were adding. I am not sure if the same is true in Korea, but before your video I had always thought the "Devastating Like Lightning" was added as a loose approximation of 超光速 or a complimentary phrase. In this case the text felt more like flavor text from something like sportswear that Mother Sphere just put into the costume rather than something with deeper meaning.
Apologies if you know kanji and had already considered their meanings along with the English. And if not, hopefully this is of use in your analyses!
Off topic, I like your theory about one Eve per wave, but where does that leave Tachy? She seemed a lot more capable than Eve to me and felt more like the chosen one.
Tachy's purpose could be to protect EVE.

Heck yea. I was thrilled to see your long comment. I am half korean, but unfortunately my Korean side was super assimilated into American culture so I cannot speak or read Korean and know little of Korean culture. So cannot speak on any of that...
Thanks for breaking down the Kanji and giving your insight about Chinese characters. That's useful to know about the customs of Japanese slogans having English phrases added on. Perhaps that's just what it is.
If you read the Providence (mech suit) info it implies MS gives zero - F's about her angels and views them as completely disposable. However, in terms of Tachy, she crushed it in the simulators before diving to earth so she was given leadership of the 7th airborne squad. If you read the Stellar Blade comic, it shows Tachy and EVE have a relationship prior to their dive to earth, so perhaps each EVE is given a protector or 2 to help them succeed? Not really sure. Raven mentions Dannis and Ripley (I believe those are the names) when she starts her first legacy recording.
The game was great and Shift Up did an amazing job, but I really wish they fleshed out the Tachy / EVE relationship a bit more. That could have really helped the overall story and the impact of her 2nd death scene.
Can I ask you, are you still living in or have ties to Japan? How is this game being received over there and in the surrounding areas? Curious to hear, cause I cannot find much news about sales or reception in South Korea, Japan, and China (crucial video game markets and audiences).

Just throwing my 2cents in, I do have to note that Mothersphere seemingly cannot create new designs and can only improve the already existing designs while humanity was able to produce completely new and confounding designs which is probably a point of jealousy for mothersphere which is why she probably never tried to investigate if the elder could be reasoned with.

I can't help but wonder why EVE was the only member of the EVE protocol (that we know of) that was actually named EVE. I was confused when Raven had EVE written on all her gear.
Yes this was kinda hard to wrap my head around. Perhaps Mother Sphere new this wave's EVE was going to be successful with the EVE protocol and therefore did not provide it/her with a different name?
It's only my guess, but I think it has something to do with Mother Sphere prediction powers.

If the EVE Protocol was meant to supplement the the flaws of both humans & the Andro-Eidos, then the EDENN Protocol, as hinted at on the Black Wave nanosuit, will be a more concerted effort to radically transform Earth. The specifics behind that transformation are a mystery, but it's clear as day that the Colony Extinction was just a calculated, suppressive effort on Mother Sphere's behalf, and that devastation is potentially reversible. Eidos 7, Eidos 9, and Lily's Atelier are proof that nature will outlast humanity's machinations. Wherever EDENN refers to, Xion's existence will likely be threatened a second time.
Yes When I saw and heard about that, I was thinking all sorts of thoughts - your thought makes sense. I'm glad they hinted at this with this inclusion on that outfit. It looks like Shift Up at least has a rough idea of where they want this story to go.
Wow... this is one of the greatest stories ever told. Such an amazing insight of the truly great one-of-a-kind game of all time.
I agree. After watching the Shift Up behind the scenes documentary on Sony's YT channel, I am really impressed with Kim Hyung Tae. It's cool how he and the story team took his concept and turned it into this story. I really hope they can continue this franchise with further development of what they've established with this game.

Yeah not sure on that. I do believe there is a lot of symbolism and influences from Christianity in the game design from Shift Up - I think it could be as simple as Raven having that name because she is a black, fallen angel that looks like a raven or a harpy
Not sure if this is the right video to leave this particular comment, but I actually did enjoy the lore also when I was fighting against DemonCrawler I took some screenshots of the map that is infront of EVE and its not only the map of the world but also the location of the four spire towers. Which points to Mother Sphere dropping 3 out of the 4 towers possibly along with the modules from the colony.
Yes saw that too. Originally I thought we were going to be going to all these locations during gameplay. Perhaps we can explore the other orbit elevators in the potential sequels. Good eye for catching the map :)
@unlistednaytiba Thanks funny enough I caught the map on the second playthrough of the game. I also want to explore the other towers as well. Also I have a theory nothing too solid but I do belive the tutorial area the tower we see I do believe that is the third tower. Maybe near South Korea

I really think we could have gotten a lot more in flashback scenes. It seemed like flashbacks were going to be a thing early on in the game (EVE having a flashback to when Adam saved her from the Unlisted Naytiba on his hoverbike), but perhaps a lot was cut due to budget, as flashbacks weren't really used much at all after those in the beginning of the game. But yes, I agree, getting more on Adam / Raphael Marks would have helped serve the story much more.

Y'know what's been plaguing my mind? The mark on Adam's body, when he is revealed to be the elder, looks like porcelain or marble with gold underneath. Even his skeleton has gold lining the teeth. Could just be a design thing but it had me curious is all.
It could be that "look" of marble and gold is very elegant or "high class" and Raphael Marks used the Naytiba blood to evolve himself to incorporate this elegant look because he is pretty egotistical and may view himself that way. Also, I believe there is some marble and gold design elements in the orbit elevators, correct?
Most of the technology and infrastructure was build through mother sphere's reign when her andro-eidos were "humans", however there are some things that were built when organic humans still were the species she served. The underground subway system was created to help humans not add to the challenges of global warming and the orbit elevators existed in this time because there is a quote where Raphael Marks points out one of the orbit elevators. So we know that he could have had some influence on the design of the orbit elevators - maybe he designed the interiors - the interiors of the orbit elevators seem to have the same aesthetics of Adam's gold wings and skeletal structure..
@@unlistednaytibathe pattern on his arm looks more akin to fungus and slime mold, the gold on his bones could be a nod to Bone China, pottery that is made with biological material and is considered a strong kind of ceramic.

She's trying to eliminate all EVE from each squad so she's problematic to Adam's fusion plan.
I know that the fact that he's never going after Raven goes against my idea but given Adam personality, he might feel bad for her.
I believe "help" in the sense that she is devoted to him and while Adam is clearly using Raven, Raven may perceive it as helping him.
Admittedly, I found it a bit annoying for the game to use the name, Eve, for more than just the character we play as. Thought it would've been cleaner to use a different name other than Eve for the protocol or as other angels or airborne squadrons.
With that out of the way, thank you for talking about the EVE Protocol, and giving further insight on even the beta cores. Certainly goes into helping to explain Mother Sphere's reasoning and approach for capturing Adam.
Appreciate your feedback. The beta core thing was cool. I don't think any character mentions the name Blood Edge. It's only listed on the official webpage, so maybe EVE's blade could be explored more too in potential sequels.

Still haven't figured out why EVE is capitalized. THere is also an EDENN Protocol on the black wave suit.
i thought the elder naytiba was gonna terminate himself when he saved stellar blade from long overdue guilt, he was only one with human DNA left alive, however only one male DNA can repopulate the earth and not a female, a male DNA contains both one male and a female's. with a cloning tech and a molecular control synthesizer working possible... now what is the new transformed stellar blade 's DNA? is she female or male or a hermaphro?

Your comment made me think of what happened in comics when x-23 was cloned from Wolverine's DNA because the Y-chromosome of his blood was damaged and only had the X-chromosomes available to use. Not sure about your question of what EVE's Naytiba infused blood actually is tho.

Y damaged and only X-chromosomes available... which cant be done... written by a dumm scfi writer, you have trillions of X and Y chromosomes, another trillions including daily shedding for living, you can NOT damage all. you only need a hair follicle, if mitosis to meiosis tech is working. 20 years ago, one scientist claimed this to work, but it was a hoax. your DNAs are the same everywhere, but only proteins that coat them are different. if one female is alive, she can only repopulate the earth only by cloning, then they will all look the same. if one male is alive, then he can repopulate the earth naturally but with an extra difficulty tech molecular control. virus is also a key for a good evolution, all DNAs on earth are symbiotic with virus, virus changes our DNA so much we get diversified faster.. catching cold is not a bad idea in the long run.

i want to discuss about wing color, raven and tachy is black but adam and eve is white, i think it have some thruth behide my hypothesis is eve may be have some human DNA such a brain? Raven is going mad because knowing the truth about Mother Sphere's whole schemes. So she has black wings. (In her Unidentified Naytiba's form)
Tachy is a kindhearted angel, she got one winged black because Raven corrupted her with the contamination of alpha naytiba's blood. She later thank Eve for set her free. And Lily managed to extract Tachy skills to Eve.
Adam has Three white wings because he is the first perfected evolution of advanced human naytiba, with the sincerest meant for the greater good of humanity.
Finally, Eve become One Winged White Angel after the fusion with Adam. That shows that Eve has the most Heroic heart, the bravest, She wants both Andro eidos and humans to co-exist. Fair and Justice. All looks good to me 👍💖

People saying that the story is non-existent or bland clearly can't read. This is one of the best stories in a game I've heard and played in a while. There are some parts that I wish the game had gone into, but that's fine.
Agree. I feel like some content was cut for various reasons. For their first AAA game, I feel that Shift Up did an amazing job

Question. I don't have the game but heard the lore. Lily was on Earth for 5 years, but trapped in the tube for 2, but 1 year ago, Iberis fell into a coma. Am I wrong or what happened?
There is confusion around that because Lily is deceptive to Adam and Eve when she's found. She isn't fully honest about what truly happened to her. Lily only reveals everything if you fill her lore bar to 100%. Then you travel to Eidos 9 and she comes clean. It's more of lie of omission on her part. She doesn't say where she was for all that time, she just lets Adam fill in the blanks and doesn't correct him.

Lily never said she was trapped in the pod for 2 years, and she was never on Earth for 5 years.
After she is out of the pod and introduces herself, the cutscene cuts to black and we next see EVE, Lily, and Adam talking in the Tetrapod. Adam then says "So you were in that hideout for 2 years?" or something like that. Nobody ever mentions the pod. He's saying she hid in the atelier for two years. And then when you visit the atelier later in the game, that's when Lily reveals Iberis fell into a coma 1 year ago.
A LOT of players misunderstood that line to think she was trapped in the pod for two years when that was never stated.
@@AICW so I am confusion. First, I thought she was trapped in that pod for 2 years since she was from the 5th airborne squad, assuming each squad was sent 1 year apart. But at Eidos 9, we learned that she had been on earth long before that. So, was she originally on earth? And then sent to the colony, and then sent back to earth in the 5th squad? And how long did she actually got stuck in that pod?
@@rayvincyful1 Unlikely, she would've arrived with the rest of the 5th Airborne only to witness a similar degree of carnage that EVE experienced when deployed almost immediately. That year-long gap between deployments for each Airborne Squad means that the 6th Airborne bit the dust just as quickly, so it lines up closely with Lily having been hunkered down in the Eidos 9 atelier for two years by the time EVE arrives. In that span of time, Iberis must've been attacked, and Lily must've desperate to find something that could save her. How far Eidos 7 & 9 are is a mystery, but the reason behind her being in that drop pod is easier to explain. Gigas. She must've been scavenging for resources, only to realize that she was in Naytiba territory.

The story really is not appreciated enough. It is too bad some of the voice acting turned people away from looking into it more.
I agree. I imagine the direction for the voice actors was providing but it just didn't connect or carry over into the animation well. Take Adam for example. I'm guessing the direction given to the actor was something like, "make his voice sound strained, and remember that he feels guilty for his past actions." When listening to Adam, you can hear that tone and strain in his voice, but it wasn't the best overall. I definitely think Shift Up will iterate on things for the sequel tho.
@@unlistednaytiba What people from one language and dialect would consider intense another group might find it to be bland and a lifeless performance. I see a lot of delivery similarities from Adam's English voice actor to Samus Aran's voice actor from Metroid Other M. What Japan thought was a more stoic line delivery turned out to be taken as winy and weak from an English speaking standpoint.

Thanks a ton for this. On my 4th playthrough, I wanted to read more of everything but it was still hard to grasp the lore so this helps.

Story is alright and as much as i like Eve i think she is a bit lacking in development. I wish she had a romantic element with Adam to help flesh her character out a bit more. I was kind of surprised that there was no romance at all with the MC.
Honestly I'm glad they didn't take that route. It's just expected and predictable to do and they avoided it. I give them credit for just telling the story. It doesn't need romance.
@@derekosgood3230 Nah. As i said Eve was lacking in character development. A romantic element would have helped tremendously with that.
@@zackfair6791 I disagree. I think she developed fine without it and would have been ruined if they took that route. It's just played out.
Could possibly happen in the future (sequels). Now that she learned about love from Enya and Su, she could want this for herself.
Does Ev age at all?
Doesn't look like andro-edios or angels age. During Eidos 7, when EVE grabs that fusion cell from the hood of the car, she relates it to the previous generation of the infinity cell. If you watch the EVE music video by south korean singer BIBI, she holds a similar/smaller looking cell. I think that is the infinity cell, and I think these are placed within body frames. I believe these infinity cells, or something similar, powers the body frames and therefore gives them infinite "life."
