  • India that is Bharat is the first book of Bharat trilogy authored by Advocate J Sai Deepak. The book explains the concept of coloniality and distinguishes coloniality from the other concepts such as colonialism.
    In the video, I have tried to make a case that how the scholars and elites in India’s freedom struggle were also prone to coloniality and had their minds fully entrenched in it.
    Sources that I’ve used in this video-
    India that is Bharat- By J sai Deepak (Pg-42)
    Poverty and Un-British Rule in India- By Dadabhai Naoroji (Introduction- pg xii & xiii)

    I am also reading this book, and every single paragraph is making me think to the core and re emphasize on what we have leart and what we aspire to be. It's opening every layers of coloniality from our thought to what we perceive and what notions we have set in our heads and actually where the definitions have come from, where does the context lie, all these and how everything is imported and imposed on us.. This reading has clearly opened our eyes and I am able to see what's happening around in our daily lives, at offices, at public places, at academics where we are heading to without realizing we are just fulfilling the end goals of the colonizer...

    The true genius of European Coloniser lay not in the brutal economic and political repression of the native, but in successfully projecting his way of life as the aspirational ideal. - JSD

    Aspirational ideal tha because there was no inequality such as in India, least superstitions, better scientific temper, constitutionalism and so on. Our society was in the gutter of superstitions, illiteracy, dogmatic religions, no scientific temper at all in those times.

    I can see what dadabhai naroji is frying to say here , i think he means that if Britain live up to its principals that it follows in england and applies it to the whole of the empire than it will do much good to the people around thr world....but as we know they didnt practised fairness , empathy , sympathy and their ideals in all of their colonies.

    Dadabhai naoroji was a member of British parliament,he new the British society from very close,the he perceived British society and administrative and then after doing comparative analysis of British administration in india which aim for welfare of brits not indians finds out huge contrast,so please don't misinterpret his words.he is a man of great aura.British rule in india was a blessing in disguise which United india as a political entity.

    • @Kahaani-en9gm
      @Kahaani-en9gm  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He was indeed a great intellectual, that does not mean he is infallible. He, along with other congress leaders of that time, used to think that ordinary Indians are incapable of fighting the British and for around 3 decades tried their best to confine battle with brits behind closed doors.
      In no way I intend to misinterpret his words, I just quoted what he said in his book. You can do your own scrutiny and tell everyone how fairplay and justice became “British Instincts”. And how it became the duty of the British anyway. Is this not the same Whiteman’s Burden ? An Indian asking britishers that it’s their duty to do justice to all Indians!
      Can’t say more.

    • @beinganonymous707
      @beinganonymous707 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Do you really think that divided indians at that time can defeat Britishers by force?.. There were many revolts in early 19th century which were easily suppressed by the brits, without social reform we couldn't have United the indian masses, so thanks to early social reformers and moderates who paved the way for nationalism.

    Read the second book accidently first...it is more vast than the first one....but the thought process changed entirely and couldn't resist picking up the First part....Let me quote a line from the book that is so apt and complete in itself , " Colonisation is the process, colonialism is the policy and coloniality is the mindset or the thought that underpins or drives colonialism"....mind boggling...

I also see a lot of cherry picking throughout. So not my favorite book but i would say cautiously embrace the good if shy and leave out all the bad, which is a lot.
