Shogun is one of my favourite Trivium albums. And it wasn't until a few years ago that I realised that the album perfectly loops, with the melody of Shogun being the same as the one with Kirsute Gomen.

I remember trying to rip a copy of this song from Madden back in the day before this got released. That was back when Madden had a good variety of music and was actually a decent football game.

One of the biggest feeling that this album encapsulates to me is aggression. I really feel like you have to put more rasp and feeling into the vocals for any Shogun cover. This just sounds like a weak copy paste in terms of vocals. The guitar playing is 100% spot-on and amazing. This album means the world to me and I just want the same feeling to be showcased in the covers that the songs represent and are worthy of. That being said of course Matt created all of this so he can do it however he wants
One of the reasons why the vocals are so bad ass full of aggression on that album is that it’s literally coming from Matt’s throat. Very dangerous and painful, but sounds fucking awesome. That vocal style is what put him out of commission in 2014.
