Nah they work overtime, the main reason most beekeepers dont sell honey in the comb is because its destructive and takes a long time to rebuild. Its more efficient to simply cut the caps off.

I absolutely hate sticky things on my hands. If I can't wash my hands at least 30 seconds after getting syrup or honey on them, I'll go crazy. I don't know how you do this

Sometimes you have to embrace it, let your feral self out and eat that last bit of honey (or syrup) with your hand, smear it on your bread (or any other food) with bare hands and devour it.
But yeah, usually i wash my hands the second something sticks on them or is oily. Even my glasses, if there is the tiniest thing i'll wash it, till it's completely clean and without marks.
Just feel the whole thing, be freed from yourself

A few years ago I found out I had a honey allergy. I was at school when we started talking about honey and I asked my friends if honey make their throat itchy too, I thought honey just made your throat itchy and irritated, then they looked at me like I was crazy. Then we looked up honey allergy symptoms and, sure enough itchy, irritation and sore throat was one of the symptoms.
