My girlfriend bought me a 3-month Shaker & Spoon subscription, and I have loved every one of them. They are outstanding! Cara, another potential sponsor you might try is Curiada, which I discovered through Tasting History with Max Miller! Love your show!
Love this! It’s an outstanding drink, I had a daiquiri night with some friends a few weeks ago contrasting this with the original and it really does benefit from the maraschino and grapefruit. Grapefruit is an under appreciated citrus in cocktails!
Can't wait to try this cocktail out this (U.S.) summer! For some reason the suggested video pop up at the end (last 20 seconds) is covering up the bottom left of the video, and I'm unable to see most of the specs at the end! I haven't noticed this before, so maybe this is a recent change from youtube? Not sure if this is an issue for anyone else. Good thing the specs are also in the description, but just a heads up! Cheers!
Excellent video, and yes, the Hemingway Daiquiri is one of my all-time favorite cocktails. My personal ratio is 2 ounces rum, 3/4 ounce lime juice, 1/2 ounce grapefruit juice, 1/2 ounce Luxardo maraschino liqueur and simple syrup to taste (usually 1 teaspoon, but can be more/less depending on the citrus and rum used). As for the rum, I personally prefer an aged blended silver rum that has some Jamaican rum in the blend. Denizen 3-year and Plantation 3-Star are favorites to my tastes in daiquiris.
So delicious Cara!! I am not a huge fan of sweet cocktails. This sounds wonderful!! I think Hemingway definitely loved strong cocktails. I have read he had Diabetes. Moms are the best!! Your mom has great taste in cocktails!! Love your videos!! Cheers!! :-)
Outstanding intro, nice done, quick, with the quaint music, simple, oh, the montage as well, Gosh, and you, nothing to add, nothing to take, nice haircut by the by
Yes, this is the best daiquiri there is. The first one always tastes a little odd (like your mom, I don’t use sugar) but after that, like you said, they can be consumed at a crazy rate because the tartness in the heat of the day is just so dang good. This is one drink I set a hard limit on though, because while I will never get to 16 of these, they are strong and can easily get away from you. Great video.
I tried to like maraschino liquor, tried it in several cocktails, but no go for me, too bitter and I don't like how it tastes. But I do like grapefruit daiquiri a lot. I use 1oz lime, 1 oz grapefruit, 0.75oz rich simple and 2oz white rum.
I do have a more tart and bitter tastepallette and do hate sweet drinks. Tiki will never be my thing but this Hemingway Daicuiri might do that without the added sugar.
I thought you posted Hemingway Daiquiri before! If not, you've posted another of Hemingways drinks! Would be better than too sweet! Cheers to your Mom!
I've been looking for a reason to buy and try the Luxardo liquor (I could eat a whole jar of their cherries in one sitting), and this looks like a great drink. I'm wondering though is the small dash of simple sugar really adds anything, given the sugar from the rum and citrus.
Small dash of sugar can work magically. A good example for that would be the Cosmopolitan. The recipe doesn't call for extra sugar, however at our bar in Germany we do it with a barspoon of simple since cranberry juice in Germany is not nearly as sweet as in the states and you can really taste the difference.
It’s a Japanese citrus fruit, it’s MASSIVE as a flavouring in Australia just now - sometimes forget how much closer we are to Asia than everywhere else haha
I can see why this is Mums favorite , and with it being UK Mothers day tomorrow ..so timely !!!
Great man was also very partial to a Southern Rhone rose, Tavel Lirac, cheers to mum
Your mom is a smart woman. I love them, my second favorite rum drink behind the mojito. Cheers
Another great video from Cara. The answer is YES! This IS the best Daiquiri. I won't make it any other way.
Always important to keep Mom happy ! Well done, Cara!

Oh good to know, I didn’t know think about that 🙈 will change for next time
I'm not usually one for rum drinks, but this one definitely seems worth trying.
I love the look :) The dress is perfect for making sweet fruity things. The recipe looks very interesting. Will test drive this weekend .
I like to use 1.5 oz White Rum and .5 oz Rhum Agricole which provides a nice counterpoint to the sweetness from the other ingredients.
your hair is looking great!!!
This looks really good. What a great way to use grapefruit!

Plantation 3 Star makes a great one!

I also find brandy often substitutes well into rum cocktails 😊
that sounds super refreshing! good use for marischino liquer too, cheers!
Great video, as always! Can't wait to try this out

@@BehindtheBar Got it, thanks! 👍😊
Is it a perspective thing, or do you have a bottle of Luxardo that's the sixe of a human torso?
It's because of the perspective, but it has a pretty thin and tall bottle, too.
Haha!
The Shaker & Spoon box looks perfect for me. Went to buy the 12 month subscription & it's USA only.
Is there anything similar here in Australia?
I haven’t seen anything quite this model - lots of cocktail delivery kits but not with the make it yourself aspect!
Cracks me up that no matter how old you are, mum "always knows best" 🤣

Sugar almost acts as the salt of the cocktail world - it enhances other flavours and adds texture 😊
Shaker & Spoon looks amazing, shame it is US only. Anyone knows if they will expand to EU or if there is similar things in EU?
I don’t know to be honest but fingers crossed!
Yum!!!
Yuzu? Hmm never heard of it. I’m intrigued.

Your mother should know. Your mother should know.
Based on another video, I knew her favorite drink wasn’t the Americano. 😄
