The body style is very similar to the Rick 480 series, but that one is a solid body. I think they were available from the mid 1970’s to the mid 1980’s. Kind of rare.
I just wanted to thank you for all you do ....I gave bought several guitars based on your vidieos and very happy ...less expensive guitars are always good to own at a reasonable price ...Fender ,prs and many out of reach or budget for the masses ...Although all awesome guitars ...just out of range for the avg novice ...I toured this country for over 12 years ,50 weeks a year and have owned over 100 guitars ...everytown i played i hit the pawn shops and music store ....i went to the phone books for listings and score les pauls ,strats ...several pre cbbs for almost nothing ....had i held on to those rather than trade or give othervguitarist ... Id be stinking rich 😂😮😂👍💯I owned about 25 melody makers at an average price of 75$each old ones everycolor and pickup configuration , But its hard today to spend oner 300 today so anything uder 200 peaks my inteest ...so thank you for all the alerts ...I have and will take advantage of you channel 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍✌️💯💯💯💯💯💯thanks again
The Byrds I think made this guitar by Rickenbacher a household word back I the mid 6O’s with “Turn, Turn, Turn” and many others. The Beatles heard this sound by them and JUMPED at it and added it to quite a few of their tunes. I agree with you, “A.J.” If you can not afford the price of a legit Rickenbacker then IYV or H.B.. are not a bad second best. If it were me…I’d make this guitar a “Keeper”, for sure. (Watching that Jets/ Giants game was a real brain twister! Ugh!) Take care, brother!🥁🎸👍
Hey A.J., thanks for taking a chance on this IYV model! Like you and others have said, I've been watching this for several months but it's always out of stock. I was wondering how you could resist trying this baby out. Been wondering how close it comes to the feel and vibe of the original (not that I would know, bein' a poor boy), so I look forward to you follow-up video about that. Personally, I like the look of the other version (what you call "Version 2"), and if I could be guaranteed to get one of those, I'd probably order one. Thanks again for coming through with this purchase and review, Joe!
Went back already Rob! Sounds nothing like the chime and "ring" of a real "Ricky" (didn't expect it to). I sent it back because of rough finishing and build quality- afraid it wouldn't last too long... Sounded like a "cheap" electric guitar to my ears. Was a "fun" novelty , and curiosity got the best of me. Be well!
I've been eyeing one of these for awhile, but like you said, it's always out of stock. Glad you were able to snag one and look forward to your review of how it plays and sounds. It looks beautiful and I hope you enjoy it! It's always a good day, on new guitar day!
Cool vid, Joe. I am not really a Rickenbacker fan.... but I must say.... I kinda dig this one. I think I actually like what they did with this guitar. Pretty cool - and man... for that kind of cash.... fantastic. Excellent for those of us who like to have a lot of different kinds of things in their collections. What better way to lay down a few Beetles riffs, or other British Invasion type stuff.
Picked up one through amazon a few months back. Have other iyv guitars, Fret work was a little rough compared to others get a buzz in bridge pickup. Needs some work but knew if I sent back wouldn't get a replacement. So kept it, will rework it when get time. Also tailpiece was off center
Hey Joe, thanks for the heads up on this guitar. This style guitar has always been on my to buy list, but would never even consider buying a real one at the prices they are asking for them. This is a great alternative at a phenomenal price, for a really cool looking guitar. Thanks again brother!!
Jatoba Wood, Fretboard? I've never heard of that before, but it does look like rosewood. on the amazon picture. but looks a little different in the video. I hope it holds up well. It does Look lovely. I hope that you're happy with it. Peace.. Joe
hey AJ,
another great one.
best wishes, re
cant wait to hear it...

They were in stock on Amazon a couple of weeks ago and I ordered one. No real complaints although I’ll probably put replacement pickups on it later
Very similar to the 660 body
Nice!
