In all these gold scrapping videos, nobody talks about what they do with all the remaining materials and acids once the gold is recovered. Gold is 0.0001% of e-waste, but it’s the only thing that everybody worries to recover. I’m worried about what happens with all the rest.

I love it when people assume that for this gold recovery you just mix a few buckets of nitric acid with a few buckets of hydrochloric acid (or whatever) and just let it boil for an hour and voila... It's a very dangerous process, acids need to be added little by little, in small increments, until all metal is dissolved. Using too much at once can result in dangerous and uncontrollable reactions. Using extra is pointless and a waste of chemicals. It's a fun to watch process and if you know what you're doing there's not going to be much contaminated liquid to deal with in the end anyway.

You strip the gold off the metal using a bath of cyonide sorry if I spelled it wrong. Then it leaves the gold as a mud like consistency. After you need a furnace to burn the gold .your supposed to add a salt like material idk what's it's called but during the burning process it turns the gold into a glass rock as well as turning the gold solid. Get a hammer break the glass off and you'll end up with a solid gold nuggett. Take some samples of the gold to test it's purity. Boom you got gold.

That´s not even gold, it´s just gilded, so first he has to melt the metal, find a way to extract the gold from it, and then he maybe gets a gram or two from 10-20 circuit boards, worth less than 100 Euro.. There is a reason why professional waste refurbishers have mountains of this shit lying around, waiting for someone to come up with a method that allows it to do this economically.

if they were plated you would have seen the metal underneath, the only other metal i saw in that jar was solder. also, gold plating is usually done on top of silver or copper, two other well paying metals. i guess the only way know for sure is melt them down.

A buddy of mine found about 50+(I forget exactly how many.) old motherboards. These were big server boards from a local company stupid enough to put them at the garbage bay. They were actually throwing them out. About 3 feet by 2.5 feet. I did my research and found an actual place that did the gold stripping process. Had to weed through the places that offered me $5 a board though. I drove up to the recycling plant about an hour away and met the guy I talked to on the phone. We stacked and counted them up on the dock and he came down with a check for about 1500.00. This was when gold was going for about 1500. So I gather they got more than an ounce out of them. Split the proceeds with my buddy. Pretty nice work for about 4 hours of time. My advice is to save up all those shaving until you get about a pound and see how much an actual gold recovery plant will give you for them. Then ship them. Lot easier than the risks with doing it yourself.

I will put my life on the fact that you have not, nor ever will be able to separate enough gold to pay the immensely high fines which will be applied to every single instance of illegal dumping of toxic waste.
A screenshot will be forwarded directly to the EPA headquarters in Washington DC along with the link to your youtube page. They tend to investigate very quickly so expect some visitors rather soon.
Worst case, you are full of lying shit and the EPA wastes a little time.

Think about it for one second. What child do you know of who knows the value of anything?
The computer is probably given to them without any chores to complete first.
And since gold is one of the most valuable substances on earth, their childhood math completes the equation even though half of the data is missing.
Outdated devices and components have more value than credit is given for. There are nostalgia freaks out there. They want the old and outdated.
I for one, have a 1997 Dell which is running Windows 98. I use it for electronic software. It can run calculations rather quickly due to the fact resources are not being used up by modern features.
Ahmed has a very valid point. Kids destroy things without gold just to see how they are made.
Give them the temptation of possible money to buy new games and the end result is inevitable.
Granted, not every child will, but I promise you, SOMEWHERE on Earth right this very second is yelling at their child after seeing the computer in pieces on the bedroom floor.

How do people remove the gold from old electronic devices?
Annually, Foley explained, the world produces more than 50 million tons of electronic waste per year; that amount is increasing rapidly due to non-stop innovation that shortens the life span of electronic devices.
Gold is in significant amounts that it is much higher compared with the natural ores of Au. So, recycling of the e-waste is becoming more of an important business in the process of Electronic Scrap Material Recycling. Most of the tech gadgets have the gold electroplating on them. Gold electroplating is the process of coating gold using the electrochemical process in the gadgets. Conductivity and protection of wires are the main reasons, of gold plating the gadgets. So, gold can be found in many electronic gadgets especially in the large circuit boards. To separate gold from the devices there are many exclusive methods, and there are many companies that deal with extracting the gold from the gold plated devices.

Metal Mercury. Metal Mercury would "eat" the gold, and then you have to use a torch, and burn the Metal Mercury, leaving 100% pure gold. You can do an experiment first, and see how it work. Metal Mercury is hard to find these days, I have seen people on Ebay selling it, from time to time. Or you can extract it from a mercury switch used on air conditioners or heaters.
