Hi Mitch, thanks for taking the time to make great content vids, I am an expat living in Canada, so I love to see cars from back in my day, loved the RS escort to mate, I recall my boss had a few when I was spraying cars late 70s early 80s, they were fast in their day, and rode on rails.
Love the vids you do -I like that you show a car then watch it go through the auction rather than show all the cars then do the auction bids at the end of the vid 👍🏼
I had the exact same car as that RS 2000 back in the day. Sierra beige with a tobacco vinyl roof . I paid £3000 for it 3 years old, & sold it 18 months later for £4000. Brings back great memories.
Have travelled to many auctions .Over 50 years bought some good ones .Bought some rubbish Didn't have such a good description of cars we have now .. ACA Are one of the best now
Hey Mitch, great video. You know how my heart bleeds when i see our S.A cars being bought here and sold there. It was obvious that the seller imported to sell, but yeah, i guess that's the way the cookie crumbles. FYI that Cortina pick up, the tailgate on it was customised in order to give it a "flush" look. Originally the work FORD is imbossed in it, just as you hoped for, and probably might be aware off. Top man. From S.A. 👍👍
Yes it’s unfortunate, lots getting imported! Do you really see that many on the road over there now? Glad to know the tailgate originally looked cool 😎
Hi Mitch, thanks for replying. No sir, they are relatively scarce here in Cape Town. A few here and there, but not as before. Most cars are up north in Johannesburg and Durban areas, but in general S.A don't have then runnung around as before.
A few nice clean Classics and a few surprises just show's to go last time i went to an auction i bought an 83 Granada 2.8 ghia X for £ 2500.00 in really nice condition today in as good condition probably looking £ 8000.00 + Crazy money I wish i kept it, I had a 77 Mk 1 3.0 Ghia before that Sweeney type same colour Lovely Cars.
I watched the auction live but its much better seeing these cars on your vlogs Mitch. Please go to Iconics next auction and cover the two RS500s going through. I would be bidding if I didnt live so far away in sunny Thailand. Love the channel brother, keep up the great content. 😁👍
Thank you for watching from Thailand, I’m glad to hear you enjoy the videos! Unfortunately I won’t be able to make the Iconic auction but I’ll be attending another auction very soon 👍🏻
My vote is the RS2000 - a sympathetic resto done right with the correct enthusiast. The standard 3 litre Essex V6 sound that came from the Cortina pickup from the RSA is something truly rare...
You have giving me an insight to an interesting market I do need to replace the car I have had for 38years .a mitsubishi colt 1988 glx still in daily use but being outside going rusty.
Love watching these truly brilliant (mostly 😂) classics sell . Always good to see what they make . I can't imagine this happening 15-30 years down the line with anything that is getting churned out today especially anything electric (if they last that long .....which they won't !!) Cheers 👊

I watched 'live' both days (online) and felt the cars that went through on Saturday sold way cheaper than those that went through on Sunday. I also felt there were some incredibly cheap cars to be had...Has the classic bubble burst?
Usually the cars that go through on the Saturday are the more affordable classics and the Sunday is for some real show winners! I don’t think the bubble has burst personally, still lots of cars making great money within their estimates 👍🏻
Mitch great video the car for me was the mk3 Cortina estate import from South Africa we did come and say hello Geoff from Yorkshire with the classic mk2 escorts Best Wishes
Metro with 5 owners with only 27k miles!! Seems weird a car could have 5 owners who prob just popped to church in it once a week. Great price for the mk3 cortina, i sold mine (my 1st car) to scrapyard for £15, in 1991 still got receipt ,it was a rare very under powered 1.3L, wish i still had it now..Great channel by the way!!
I remember the cars for sale section in the Hitchin comet back in the early 80s. 1976 3.0 ghia Capri: £250 ono 1973 escort 1.3L £175 ono 1972 cortina GLX £400 ono etc This is what you’d see from week to week
That Mk1 golf is the pick so far but for an everyday classic that mk2 was a steal ..you could have 2 golf's 1 vxr and something else vs 27 K for one rs2000 as nice as it was .
Bet it costs the same if not more to insure that Range Rover 😂. My favourite car of them all was the Nova. Worth every penny. The messed up Capris still fetched incredible money which is insane. Great video mate.
My old man had the only Cortina pickup in the UK in 78. He bought a ghia with a rear end shunt. And cut the back off. It was in a magazine when finished. It was in Dark brown.
my best m8s older brother had a mk11 capri with a mod custom kit on it and a 3,2 rebored engine in it back iin the 80s ,be worth a good price these days ,some prices are crazy,i had a alfa sud 15oo tc back in the 90s ,was not a rotten tin can ,only issue i had was a leaking gearbox on it ,couldnt find a good used gearbox so sold it ,not seen one one the road since
@mk2 Mitch - a couple of questions... How has the Saxo which was sold previously only had 1 owner from new? Also, you seem to miss loads of interesting (to me at least) other cars. what was the flat silver coloured thing in the first half of the vid? Why do you never feature Mercedes cars? I saw a few but no details. also the Mk1 Golf GTi next to the Saxo looks interesting. Anyway, thanks for the upload and I do like the format where you cut from the description to the actual sale of the car. Does anyone know why those accident damaged Capris sold for so much?
Hi, the Saxo has only got one pervious owner as they must’ve been a trader. If you are a trader you do not go down as a owner of the vehicle. If you’d like me to look around other classic cars please leave suggestions and I will try to feature some in the next auction video. Just remember there are over 200 lots in this auction and it’s very hard to decide what ones to record 😎 I’m glad you enjoyed the Mk1 Golf GTI, when you got to that part in the video 👍🏻
A proper engine for a 71 c3.My mates dad had one.I had a 5.7 in a 1978 one back in the late 90s.The yanky little phoney ones mitch loves only have 1.6 and 2 litre pintos in or even smaller 1.1 or 1.3 kent x flows lol...
The stand out car for me was 2.0S Capri, in my opinion I couldn't see that car being of any use, no parts left and beyond economical repair and the price shocked me. Other than that some real gems went through this time.
I agree, not too sure what people were seeing in the capris. Would certainly cost a lot more to restore, you might as well just buy a clean one outright!
There was a Mk2 cortina in this video! There’s also a Mk1 cortina in this video of mine too 😎 th-cam.com/video/JbLLIBCARUM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=VSXNP3RPHMkOGZKa
I know I'm sad but I want to but that Metro!!! It is the same as my first car, admittedly in 1997 I was 17 and back then it was a rust bucket!! It cost all of £350. 👍
I can only assume when they took the battery pack off it died. Meaning the battery was either very flat or the alternator was not charging the battery. Just like I said in the video 👍🏻
